Lovely classic Scottish pub with a positive and friendly atmosphere. Service very kind, nice and rapid. Food was great and very quick done even in busy Friday afternoon. We had Scottish Lentil soup - very delicious and fish and chips - outstanding with homemade Tatar sauce. The price of the beer and food was fair for Edinburgh and area as it is on Royal Mail. Vegetarian and Vegan option available and dogs friendly pub. I would definitely recommend to pop in.

Had late dinner here. It has the scottish delicacies like cullen skink and the scottish dessert.. also ordered some halloumi and fish chips ... all good just the service could have been better (dessert not available but we learned it at a later time)

This pub was heaving, but as it was the last week of fringe, it is to be expected. They were able to seat us (party of 2) after 20 mins. Then they forgot about us and were not able to order for another half hour. We ordered burgers and a few drinks, which were brought to the table rather quickly. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The drinks were as well. Unfortunately, we were forgotten about again and had to go the bar for additional drinks. The pub was exceptionally busy so didn't mind that the service wasn't the best. However, we were surprised to have a service charge included in the bill (for a party of 2!), when we had effectively been ignored for much of the time we were there. We paid it but did leave an additional tip, which we would have been happy to do if we hadn't been forced to pay an unwarranted service charge.

Ate here on a busy night during the Fringe, and we were quickly looked after. We ordered food and drinks which were served quickly, drinks first followed by food. Our meal was good, and we had a variety of the menu dishes, fish and chips, steak pie and a haggis stack, followed by a cranachan dessert. These were all tasty, and set us up for further Fringe fun.

We were a party of four coming to grab a quick bite to eat after a very busy day exploring the beautiful city. Friendly service, very comfortable and relaxed environment. Overall the food was really good! The reason so much was spent per person (£30-40) was only because we were enjoying the atmosphere so much so we stayed for a couple of drinks!

Stopped in here for a quick bite to eat and a drink or two before tackling the rest of the "Royal Mile". Its a nice pub with a great, friendly staff. Food is better than good and they have a few local beers to sample.

While staying in Edinburgh we ate here twice. The food was great as was the service. I opted to try the haggis tower, which was so good! We also tried the fish and chips which were great as well!

Gorgeous fish and chips! They accommodated to my husbands gluten allergy really well. I would definitely recommend them!

We went pub for our breakfast. This pub is located at the royal mile. We ordered vegetarian breakfast. The breakfast was good and we enjoyed the food. I liked the vegetable sausages. These were not Quorn sausages but were made of potatoes and other vegetables. Tattie scone was also good. Just the portion could have been larger. The tea was weak, could have been stronger. The service was quick and nice.
