Extensive menu.
Recommend the dim sum.. flavour and the attention to detail on the shape.
6 of us were absolutely stuffed for around £20 a head.

Excellent service and very tasty food. The service was prompt and efficient throughout. We were grateful for the AC on what was a very warm evening! Spring rolls were crispy and well filled and the crispy chicken with chilli sauce was very tasty.

Definitely a very welcoming and authentic place. You walk in and feel like you’re in the dining room of a wedding.
To start, the waiter (can’t remember his name but he was Malaysian) had a great personality and was very friendly, as were the other waiters.
To start, I tried the shrimp dim sum which was the first time I try dim sum, and they were perfect. Paired with their secret chili sauce (which they wouldn’t sell me), it was a magnificent combination.
For the main course, I had the duck and pancakes. Now let me tell you, this is not the portion of half a duck you would get elsewhere, this is a portion which will definitely fill you up, filled with every piece of the duck including delicious crispy skin. So far I couldn’t find any fault.
The only fault was, that I don’t go there everyday.
Overall I would definitely recommend everyone to try this place for authentic Chinese food.

Call to reserve table on busy days to avoid disappointment.

We got a takeaway, the girl at the front desk was very efficient and politely friendly, said it would only take 10 minutes! I waited at the front, standing in the corner and this older gentleman came up to me and pulled out a seat for me, assuring me I could wait there. Felt welcomed even though we weren't hanging around. Good workers and good food, it was delicious when we took it back

This is the best dimsum in Edinburgh, so crowded. All dimsum were delicious.

One of the best chinese restaurants in Edinburgh. I recommend trying out their Dim Sum starters, they are amazing. Main portions are quite generous, but keep in mind that sides (rice) are ordered extra. For drinks you can choose from a wine list (mostly french wines), bottled beer or a few standard soft drinks.

Authentic Cantonese / Hong Kong style cuisine and dim sum that are not easily found elsewhere in Edinburgh.
My favourites are the stir-fried ho fun dishes - beef ho fun & roasted pork belly with ho fun were both great, and I like the texture of ho fun in the UK, more chewy and thicker than that I used to have in Hong Kong.
There is a range of quality dim sum available as well. We particularly love the egg tart (airy crunchy puff pastry and smooth egg custard) and stir fry turnip cake (complimented by slightly chilly XO sauce).
An excellent place to enjoy comfort food.

Delicious...
An amazing experience, excellent place to go if looking for something different to eat, without expending a fortune.
Perfect for a group sharing the experience.
I'll definitely visit again.

Have to say, some of the most delicious Dim Sum that I’ve eaten, & I’ve lived in London for 20+yr. restaurant is not full of frills and fancy but the food an ambiance are what I’m there for. Highly recommended.

Visited a couple of times for lunch now and been delighted each time. Amazing food, great service and such a choice. More than 75% of diners were Chinese families so you know the food must be good.

They offered the best choice of dim sum I’ve seen outside Londons China Town including chickens feet , tripe , frogs and all the familiar ones too.

The £9:95 3 course lunch was excellent value and did not eat til next morning.

Can’t wait to visit again and try something else .

The rumour I tried something of everyone else’s dishes are unfounded

This place has been on the wish list for quite a while but as it’s not in the city centre it always got bumped down the list. However, we made a concerted effort to go and I am glad we did (and we were foolish to have waited so long). We arrived and were seated at a table for two but many of the tables here are set up for larger groups. The place was very busy for a Sunday lunchtime and many families had chosen to dine here. We had specifically come here to try the dim sum, although other Chinese cuisine is available. We had a handy order sheet so we just crossed off the boxes against the things we wanted. We opted for the dim sum combo platter for two, char siu buns and spare ribs in black bean sauce.

Being hung up on a telephone booking
I don't know why on earth I have to take this worst service I have ever had! What have I done to deserve this! Just tried to book a table over the phone and below is the conversation, I included Chinese so Chinese potential customers can read too:

Waiter: Imperial Palace

Me: Hi, do you speak Cantonese?

Waiter: 咩事?(What?) (Intead of "how can I help you" maybe?)

Me: 我想訂枱。(I want to book a table)

Waiter: 咩枱?訂咩枱?(What table? Book what table?) (I started to get confused here, because usually their service is good and it's not my first time calling to book a table)

Me: 呢度係唔係帝皇(豪)酒家?(It's this imperial palace?)

Waiter: 係,你係唔係旅行社?(Yes. Are you a travel agent?)

Me: 唔係。(No.)

Waiter: 訂幾時?(When is your booking?)

Me: 19號。(on 19th)

Waiter: 幾時19號?今個月19?下個月19?幾時?(Which 19th? 19th this month? 19th next month? When?)

Me: 你態度好差喎。(Your attitude is really bad.)

Waiter: 我態度差?我同你講嘢你都唔應我!(My attitude is bad? I talked to you, you don't even respond to me!

Then he hung up on me! The whole conversation I feel like being interrogated!

My mum’s favourite, the char sui chow mein, is something that we have to order whether we’re having rice or not.

There's something about this place, maybe it's the decor or the very traditional layout and style of this restaurant, that makes me feel right at home. It's like stepping in to a Tea House for Yum Cha (dim sum) in Hong Kong. The pink sheets, white table covers, fish tank, and comfy seats.

The staff here are really nice. They look after you, and are quick to re-fill your teapot when it's low or empty, and that's the attention to detail you want in a large place, especially when you have 6-9 people eating and tea just goes!

I've been here for an occasion, a wedding dinner, sunday Dim Sum Yum Cha, normal dinner, min afternoon lunch.. and every time, every service, every dish is so consistently good you can't fail coming here. So much gooooood choice and their egg tarts are only on weekends, mostly Sundays!

Size portions matches their price, some dim sum dishes only contains 3 or 4 bits, so it's great to nibble around the menu without over spending.

My family and I really enjoy going and don't think we'll stop anytime soon. :D

A good Chinese restaurant which offers a lot more traditional Chinese food - as long as you can read and speak Cantonese at least.

Having visited here on three occasions with my ex-girlfriend and her family for lunch, I made the baffling discovery that there was indeed a separate menu from which all of our food was ordered. It was a surreal experience, but also a pleasant surprise which introduced me into new territory of a much trodden cuisine in Scotland.

I remember waiting anxiously for the food to arrive and not knowing what to expect and what did come was very good food. True to Chinese dining standards the food came out as it was ready. The standout for myself were the Chicken Feet, which were just like eating ribs. The rest of the food was pretty unspectacular, but a nice experience.

Quite why there was a different menu in Cantonese I will never know, but the food offered was unique and a good experience to have had.
