I love Kastari – it’s got amazing decor, really friendly staff and amazing Indian food.
I would recommend the set menu if it’s your first time as it lets you try a range of different dishes. To start you can have a mix of kebabs, pakora and various fish dishes. As a palate cleanse then your given sorbet. We then followed this with Lamb Bhuna, Chicken Tikka, Prawn Karahi with rice and garlic nan bread. My favourite dish was definitely the Lamb Bhuna as it was very tasty and full of flavour. For dessert you were served ice cream. The starters and main courses were both delicious – dessert was a bit disappointing but desserts in Indians never tend to be that great.
It’s really reasonable priced and I will definitely be back. If you don’t order off the set menu then definitely try the Aubergine Pakora as it is very tasty.
I've had my starter, which was good. Service ok, laid back but prompt and not obtrusive. Waiting for main course...Lamb Karahi, portion not huge but very tasty.
The staff is not very friendly but the food is good...
The food here at this restraunt was very enjoyable. One thing I particularly enjoyed was the curry and the salad, the salad was fresh and went well with the curry as a side dish, the service at the restaurant made me feel like I was at home and they were very friendly towards me. However the portion size of the food was quite small, I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family.
Walked all the way from Edinburgh castle to Kasturi restaurant. It was worth the time. Food was good and service was quick. Luckily there were not many people. The ambience is great. They have a nice bar. A little overpriced though.
Good indian food, but staff is quite unfriendly. They do not make you feel welcome. A simple smile when receiving the order would actually make a world of a difference
Was there with my family and friends on Tuesday 15th March for Dinner. The vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes were fantastic. The manager was very helpful and accommodating to my requests.
The breads (Naan, Tandoor Roti and Pilaf) were very well done. My guests especially loved the starter which was a platter of fish, chicken and prawn tandoori items.
The ambience was also cosy. Will definitely go back to Kasturi when I fly to Edinburgh.
I must say , if you are a connoisseur like me and in Edinburgh , looking forward for delicious Indian/Bangladeshi food and drinks @ economical rate then Kasturi restaurant is the must place to visit . Especially , I should say the 4 course business lunch menu is perfect and indeed its value for money .
@ Manager : Looking forward for more varieties in side dishes/Mains ;) .
Right from Starters to desserts everything I find here is very delicious . Ambience out here will make you feel energetic and hospitality is really appreciable . Recommended place for Indian cuisine in Edinburgh city center .
Had a lovely meal here last night. I had chicken pathia and my partner had the bhuna. The naan breads are spot on also! Would recommend if visiting Edinburgh like we are. Good location too!
Great value for money. Lamb curry was hearty and good size portion.
Music... no playlist, just each song played individually.
We went there in May 2015, Food was fine albeit a bit expensive as compared to other Edinburgh Indian restaurants. The place was spacious, clean and overall a pleasant experience. Worth a visit.
Very good food, I enjoyed the curry a lot and the service was very good. Especially the salad tasted fresh and was very appetising, the only thing that could be better is the portions
