Visited the Cask and barrel on a recommendation and I wasn’t disappointed. Great choice of real ales and my favorite was on, Timothy Taylor’s Landlord. Quite busy for a tea time which shows how good the beer is. I will be back when visiting Edinburgh

Great local pub. Staff always greets as you enter, plenty of local and otherwise brews. Perfect lunch menu, simple and in house made. Comfortable environment, roomy, TVs all over to view a match.

Friendly staff that greet you as you enter. Plenty of beers to choose from local and otherwise. As tourists we found it to be a perfect spot for a drink, lunch, and chatting with the staff. We came all three days we were in Edinburgh.
3£ lunch steak pie yes please!

Always been a go-to when in the outskirts of the city centre, great feel to this pub. I was on the irn bru and still managed to trip over a bollard outside. Great pub, Edinburgh Council however, I could have tripped into a car, so sort your roads out haha. But I survive to hopefully get a beer the next time 😂😂

Popped in for a beer with friends. Never known such an unwelcoming place. A YouTube clip being played on an iPhone was designated as being too loud by long haired barman who then decided not to serve us because if it's volume , on an iphone, in a pub ??? Really?? No wonder it was empty. Scottish Tourism Industry at its worst , find another job don, your not cut out for it

I watched the Hearts v Hibs game AND the Rugby in here, yesterday. A 'mixed' crowd but very friendly. It's my new favourite pub in Edinburgh, to watch sporting events on TV, in. Loads of types of nice beer, good banter and easy to get served, even though it was packed. Quite cheap as well.

This used to be my local 20 years ago when I lived in Edinburgh- love the pub and the beer. Great to see there is still a great selection of good quality beers . Only main difference is no one smokes inside now unlike the old days.

Nice bar let down by SOME of the staff ( pony tails )
& A stupid no dog rule excuse? It's because they serve food! absolute rubbish, only bar or restaurant in street with that policy MAD.
Paul Ellis
Good array of real ales, staff ok, always pop in when in town as I like to watch the sport.
