outdoor seating was lovely & the cakes were good altho pricey (5.95!) Service was extremely slow (took 30 minutes to even get the menu... actually I ended up going to get it myself...) The food wasn't too bad but wasn't great either - really needs work... they served cake without a spoon and breakfast without a knife lol.... I'm usually not fussy but it was pretty bad. Loved the outdoor space & the cheesecake especially but they probably need to hire more staff and train them as well

What a lovely cafe! We were very lucky a few weeks back in the garden. We loved this cafe so much that we went back later that night for cake. Shared 3 and all were amazing.

Really enjoyed having tea and cake here. It wasn't busy at all at the time. The interior has a lovely relaxed vibe, with soft music, some comfy seating & beautiful carved wooden table & chair sets. There was a good amount of food and drink choices. The staff were very welcoming, professional & friendly. The disabled loo was out of action at the time I was there, so the ladies & gents were downstairs, they were clean but I did feel a little uncomfortable downstairs like was in someone's personal basement or something haha... I'm sure most would be perfectly fine with this though. Would definitely dine here again, probably trying the outdoor space next time.

I live in north London right in the middle of the Turkish community, so I'm surrounded by great Turkish restaurants all the time. Because of that, we weren't very interested in trying this place and were looking for something different during our stay in Edinburgh. I'm so glad we changed our minds and gave it a try though: the food is amazing (you HAVE to try their lentil soup, the best I've ever had!) and the staff is so nice and friendly. They have a lovely secret garden in the back too, if you're vising during Summer. I really recommend this place! :)

So glad we found this place. Hands down one of the best breakfasts I have had. The french toast is unbelievable. Treat yourself to a visit. You will not be disappointed.

We ha lovely time here enjoying our breakfast. We ordered traditional Scottish breakfast. It was a combination of many dishes. Will recommend only of you are very hungry in the morning as the plate comes full of atleast 4-5 variety of dish. It was our first time trying the Scottish breakfast. Chocolate cake was very delicious. On our request they had replaced omelette with boiled eggs with toast. Great place to have breakfast and start the vacation in Edinburgh.

This now seems to be called Mary’s Cafe Bistro, hope I am reviewing the right place! We had a lunch of delicious and filling mezze appealingly served, and were lucky enough with the weather to have been able to eat in the quiet back garden. Service was friendly and efficient.

The service was good, as was the decor. The food was great and filling. Dog friendly, and they have a little outdoor area out back.

Nice small cafe just off the Royal Mile. Great service and lovely breakfast. I had the muesli bowl which was much bigger than expected and was very tasty. My wife tried the French toast which was also very good. Seemed a little quieter than other nearby breakfast places and with food and service both very good it was a great choice to start our day in Edinburgh.
