Stumbled across this quaint little cafe on my way to the botanical gardens. It is a lovely place to sit and read a nice book while enjoying a nice hearty brunch. The china tea pot and cups were so cute, and they have a fresh rose on every table! Staff was friendly as well and I had a lovely time there.

Very cute cafe, with excellent coffee beverages and fresh-baked goods made right in store. The atmosphere is also excellent, cheery and cozy and perfect for a sit down.

Fresh, delicious and quick. Went for breakfast while our clothes were washed at the nearby laundry. The croissant with mashed avocado and fried halloumi was delicious. Would highly recommend.

The soup, sandwich, and toasties were fantastic. Lovely coffee shop next to a creek, the atmosphere is welcoming and cozy. The juice is freshly squeezed!

We had the most delicious breakfast here on our Sunday stroll toward Stockbridge. I came here with the expectation of tasting a delicious Scottish breakfast and was absolutely not disappointed. Coffee was delicious too. Staff was lovely and it was a very pleasant experience to be sit in this lovely and delicious cafe right next to Water Lieth (which you can admire from the window).

Super cute little place; my wife and I commented that "this would be the sort of place we'd have, of we ever opened a restaurant." Tea served in vintage china cups. The flat white was fine; I'd say they could use a little more barista training. The full Scottish was yummy even if it didn't have haggis (which was sorely missed). The bread was quite good. The woman serving us was pleasant enough.

Betty and George is brand new and it cannot be easy opening up during lockdown restrictions. Despite that, I've been here several times already and never had a bad experience. I think that speaks for itself. The low point? Once my soup arrived before my coffee did, which had been briefly forgotten about. I've been here for sit down meals and staff have always been pleasant, quick with table service and to bring hot food to the table. When I've had questions; they've had answers. Tip; ask for a dessert recommendation as sometimes not all the goodies are on display. Whereas the food has always been good, it's the large, open and clean cafe that first lured me in. It keeps me coming back too. I like walking here knowing that I'll likely get a table, that it'll be clean and I can trust the food. It's a good location too, connecting Granton and Ferry Road area, into the Botanics, Canonmills and Stockbridge. You can see the Water of Leith as this is a cafe by the bridge. Tip; if you need a coffee takeaway and a little space to get sorted then Betty and George is ideal. Not only can you order a takeaway from the counter by the door, there's a seating area nearby that's sperate from the main cafe. If you need to faff around with bags, headphones or gloves while your coffee is made, it's ideal. I fully expect to make this a regular stop in my irregular schedule. [2022 July update - still popping back, it's better with age, more experienced] [2023 April update - pleasing to see B&G doing so well, busy but coping. There's a real risk you won't get a seat!]

Everything I've ever eaten in B&G is homemade and absolutely wonderful - scones, cakes, savoury tarts, salads, sourdough loaves, soup, even the jam for the scone is made here 💗 It's the perfect cafe to go to at any time of day !

Popped in for lunch with a friend and were lucky that a table had just come available. The food was good. I had ciabatta with goats cheese and grilled peppers (because they were out of bagels). The ciabata was better than expected and the filing was tasty. There were also some interesting flavours in the side salads, which is always a bonus in a little cafe (where you usually just get bagged salad). One of the salads was past its best though. The coffee was fine - just what you'd expect in a cafe. Nothing to write home about, but certainly no complaints. The service was a mixture of very friendly and vacantly disinterested, so it's hard to score! They started out taking our food to the wrong table, and didn't bring us any cutlery until asked, but the girl who took our order was friendly and helpful. All in all, I'd visit again.

I believe that 5 star rating is unfair when comes to this place!!!! You order meal and they deliver pure heaven to your table. My 4 years old boy smashed his brioche with high quality bacon and sausage. He wanted more ( first time he begged for more). My lentil soup was beyond everything I ever had to eat. Simple toast with avocado, cherry tomatoes and smoked salmon was magical. Nothing is ordinary ( bread, soups, avocado paste made from scratch, meat highest quality). When comes to pay I was in shock that beautiful place 5 minutes from city centre with gorgeous food is CHEAP!!!! Unfortunately I realised to late that I should make pictures earlier. But managed do this half way.
