Such a pleasant vibe to the cafe. Great food that you don’t often experience this side of the world. The owner is so nice and genuine. Definitely recommend the Cuban sandwich. The Latin croque monsieur was very filling and warming. Coffee was very nice and well brewed.

After walking around Edinburgh and visiting the castle my parents and I decided to pop in for some food. It was amazing to say the least. The vibes were immaculate and the food was and explosion on the taste buds. The drinks were expertly made and couldn’t of wished of a better place. I highly recommend the nachos, Dominican bowl and chai latte. The owner, Indira, was super nice and created great vibes, music and conversation. I wish her all the best and thanks so much for having us!

Guajira it’s a very cozy place located in a very central and touristic area. Indira, the owner, is very friendly. I had a coffee and got to know the story behind the place. If you like good and strong coffee, definitely it’s a stop by :)) All the best Indi.

An absolute gem! Was so chuffed to have hearty Caribbean food served with the best flat white I’ve had in a long time. Indira is so lovely and creates a cosy friendly atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back

The owner Indira’s food was extremely comforting to me as someone who moved to the UK from a more diverse country, when I was struggling to find flavor in the food of other restaurants in Edinburgh. I became drawn to Guajira Cafe as soon as I ate there and realized that the food had enough salt, spice, even tanginess and sweetness. It feels very much like home comfort food that nourishes you during a day of hard work. I was also struggling to find restaurants serving vegetables in the UK other than potatoes — Guajira is my go to cafe when I need something with nutrients without needing to cook. As you can see from my photos, my favorite thing to order is the soup of the day, which is always changing and always delicious and filling. I’ve had carrot, pea, leek and potato, lentil, and many other vegetable soups in the times I’ve come to Guajira. She also has amazing sandwiches, toasts, and salads packed with flavor. Indira also makes one of the best coffees in town. The size of the drink is pretty large and the quality of coffee beans is high. You can tell Indira cares about the quality of her coffee and ingredients. The atmosphere including Indira’s charming personality is the best part of the cafe. Even if you only get a coffee or slice of cake, you can enjoy the charming space filled with local art, listen to amazing lively music, study or work using the free Wi-Fi or just chat and share stories with the owner, or even with other customers. It seems like being in this cafe makes everyone happy and relaxed. Indira has even helped me with travel suggestions when I want nice places to visit outside of Edinburgh which led to a charming trip to South Queensferry. Guajira is a treasure of the community and you shouldn’t hesitate to try it!

On the first day of my two-week research trip, I met Indira, the owner of Guajira. She smiled as she passed me a flyer menu outside her charming cafe. I didn't feel pressured to come in and noted the quiet confidence of someone who knew their food would speak for itself. I went in to eat and returned every day until I left Edinburgh. The food is fresh and flavourful. I tried soups and creatively plated sandwiches that Indira made with care. She and I had lovely conversations while I sipped a delicious cappuccino. I always left with a happy stomach and heart. I highly recommend Guajira to every one who enjoys excellent food at a reasonable price made by a fantastic chef.

TASTE BUD EXPLOSION!!!! Seriously there is some very delicious food here, all made by the owner who is a very passionate young woman. I had the cuban sandwhich and it tasted good. But...my wife had the Mexican Croque Monsieur and it was the best thing our taste buds have tasted in a looooong time. We had a mango and almond pie for dessert, the mango was just sweet enough and the almond added a very nice crunch. The atmosphere is awesome and the lively music makes the experience amazing. Seriously this place is a hidden gem, come here if you want a little flavor for your food.

My favourite place in Edinburgh, and easily one of my favourite cafés in Scotland. It is very conveniently placed, but it offer a great escape from busyness and crowds of the royal mile. It has fantastic atmosphere, amazing food and coffees, (and at reasonable prices), and the service is exceptionally friendly and truly excellent. In short, this place is a credit to Edinburgh, and you owe it to yourself to visit it.
