Everything was fantastic. We stumbled upon it by chance while exploring the area. The staff is very courteous. It's a very clean place, and the music is quite nice. The portion sizes of the dishes are great. taste really good. It would be nice if they provided extra butter for the rice :) but I will definitely go again. It deserves 5 stars.
Wow! Just WOW! One of the best restaurants I've visited. The food was delicious. The service without par. The value for money unequal. Be mindful though of the portions of food served. They are simply HUGE! You may struggle to complete one dish. No exaggeration.
This place is just near to Egham town centre. I just love their way to serving most of the food. I just love kebab and their chicken and mutton ones were exceptionally good. I have ordered a Persian tea as well, it was okay not too bad but the way it was served was actually intriguing. Do try their saffron beer they taste really really good. I would definitely want to go again as the staff there they were so humble and polite, they do help you in ordering and suggesting.
Awesome Persian restaurant, exceeding my expectations which were pretty high considering all reviews.
We’ve been here tonight for the first time to celebrate my wife’s birthday with 10 people, 4 of whom born in Iran and all of whom used to eat Persian food, and everyone loved the food, the service and the place.
It’s definitely our favourite Persian restaurant in the UK so far, and we’re looking forward to getting back here for our next Persian dinner.
Absolutely love this gem in Egham! Very easy to access from the train station and the food is fantastic. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. The ambience inside is very warm and a clear celebration of Persian culture, from the art on the walls to the Iranian artists featured in the music.
Every time I’ve been to Polow, I’ve been well taken care of, and food has come out hot and fresh. This review will cover my most recent visit with my family. Our server was Milad who was fantastic at providing advice to make sure we had the best variety of Persian food. He was very attentive and answered all our questions with a smile.
We got four starters: Torshi Makhloot (assorted pickles), Nan and Paneer Sabzi, and two aubergine-based dips called Kashke Bademjan and Mirza Ghasemi. Everything was delicious, but I particularly loved the dips which had a lovely depth of flavour that complimented the warm naan bread.
For our mains, Milad suggested getting a mix of kebab and stews. We ordered the Chelo-Kebab-Momtaz which comes with one chicken kebab and one minced lamb. They were both delicious and flavoursome, but I particularly enjoyed the chicken which was exceptionally moist and tender. The stews we ordered were Khoresht Ghormeh Sabzi (a lamb stew) and Fesenjan (a chicken stew). These were excellent as well with a good mix of flavours. We got our mains with saffron rice which was a perfect accompaniment, acting as a great base for the stews.
We ordered two desserts: Faloodeh and Persian saffron ice cream. Milad explained that these were both traditional Persian desserts that would be hard to find at other restaurants, so we were really excited to try them. The Faloodeh was unlike anything I’ve ever tried. It is made with noodles mixed with a frozen element that reminded me of a lemon slush. Very yummy. Loved the Persian saffron ice cream as well. Thicker and creamier than your standard ice cream, it almost reminded me of a thick set custard. As a finisher, we had Persian tea with saffron sugar which was a perfect end to the meal.
Tl;dr – Polow is a fab restaurant with great food, friendly staff, and a welcoming atmosphere. Would highly recommend!
Amazing restaurant, service was immaculate and the food was splendid. Try anything!
On a work visit to Egham we came across this little gem and we were not disappointed at all! This place is amazing, Ali the owner was really genuine and down to earth. The mocktail was really refreshing and the mint seemed home as it hand an intense smell that was not over powering a good cooler in the 28 degree heat.
The garlic bread for £2.50 was incredible value for money and the grean dish was cooked aubergines with nuts, garlic, fried onions and yoghurt eaten with the garlic bread it was delicious.
On to the kobeda (or however it is spelt) this was memorising looking at the pictures I can just taste it! I got mine with saffron rice which were cooked to perfection and the taste of the rich saffron was perfect but the star of the show the lamb kobeda WOW! Dripping with juice which when paired with the rice took it to a whole new level, soft tender marinated to perfection smelt amazing and tasted even better.
By far the best kobeda I have ever had.
Also tried my friends chicken and that too was oozing with juice, tender and cooked to perfection and marinated just right.
Possibly the best restaurant food in Egham I’ve eaten in recent times.
Perfectly cooked, beautifully presented and every mouthful a gastronomic delight.
We started with the Mirza Ghasemi – grilled aubergine, fried onion, garlic and chopped tomato blended together. Accompanied by the freshly made traditional Persian Naan bread.
I had the Kebab Momtaz for my main meal. A skewer of marinated boneless chicken breast cubes and a skewer of minced lamb, served with saffron rice. My friend had the Khoresht Fesenjan stew – a sweet and sour chicken stew made with pomegranate paste and ground walnuts.
The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. A family run business that deserves to thrive and prosper.
We were amazed to find this authentic and lovely Persian cuisine restaurant- Polow. The food was delicious and well cooked with a perfect blend of herbs and spices all cooked to perfection. The customer service was top notch. Milat, helped us with recommendations we loved. The Naz-Khatoon, Mirza Ghasemi, Khoresht Ghormeh Sabzi and the traditional naan was totally worth it. We wrapped our meal with Persian baklava and saffron flower tea. An unforgettable experience and will be coming back again for sure.
Great food and service. Will be visiting again very soon.
