Review Folly - Emersons Green

The food was delicious and we were seated quite soon after arriving. Decor was good but the toilets need redoing. They didn’t go with the styling of the rest of the pub and looked a bit tired. The only downside was the food took quite a long time but when it did come it was all lovely and we had a very responsive waitress.

Upon arrival the young lady behind the bar was very accommodating and informed myself that they were still serving food for lunch. Julie - the waitress that looked after us - was extremely friendly and polite. She was particularly engaging with my elderly grandparents and nothing was too much trouble for her. The food was excellent too! Very happy with the service at the Folly and will be returning in the near future.

A great local pub with an excellent selection of draught beers and ciders, wines and spirits. They were very accommodating and welcoming given how many of us there were, and the food that arrived was hot and fresh. There was an excellent selection for people who prefer veggie or vegan offerings, although service was a touch slow. That being said, I'd definitely give this place a try again, and would recommend to anyone.

The food and service was good and value for money. It appeared that you could do with more staff. There several occasions when there were long waits. The staff were all working hard and doing what they could. We had a long wait to be shown to our table. We did book and was told to wait until someone was free to book us in. We did notice that a couple who did not book and came in after us went to bar and was shown to a table. As I said the staff that were on were working hard and trying their best. But you are only good as customers last visit.

Sunday roast was amazing, desserts not so great. There was a trio of roasts for the brave! Service was on the slower side so leave yourselves enough time. It was busy so there was a good atmosphere and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Waitress Julie was wonderful, so friendly and welcoming. Wasn’t a fan of the rude lady who was at the door and sat us down! But Julie was great and the food was good value

Mostly a good experience. Efficient service, didn't have to wait long. Food was good quality and tasty but presentation could be improved. Basically all the veg were piled up together with the meat on top and swamped with gravy. This meant the roast potatoes, which should be crispy, were rather soggy. And we weren't asked if it was okay, which seems to be standard practuce these days. Apart from that it was enjoyable. We will come again.

Very nice Sunday roast. Booked a table in the bar for a more relaxed atmosphere but the music was a bit too loud. The beef was very nice and tender. I was disappointed that the lamb was not available (booked an early lunch to make sure I could get it) and was told by two members of staff that it’s being removed from the menu altogether (nothing on the menu to suggest this) Friendly service and a friendly staff (bar staff and and waitress) was very helpful and quick with extra condiments. It’s not cheap, but it’s very good food and a nice treat (not your pile it high rubbish) This was nicely cooked and plated spot on. Would definitely go back - Thanks to all at “The Folly”

My previous visit was horrific, over an hour delay on food and a shortage of staff, I had vowed never to return however this visit was chosen by a family member. We had a really nice time, the food came out on time and all six of us enjoyed our dishes, the only grumble was the length of time it took to get served at the bar (the bar wasn't that busy either). All in all a good experience, thank you!

The pub as a whole is very nice but we had a roast turkey dinner which we were not impressed with. The Yorkshire pud was rock hard and most of the veg was too hard. You couldn't even get a knife through them. Couple big potatoes were not cooked enough. We have had better roasts in the past.

2nd visit as previously had a good experience. This time definitely not. We were a party of 3 ,my sister in law had finished her meal before we were served. My husband ordered hunters chicken, it was tough and overcooked. I had chicken strips were very tasty but served with extremely crispy chip sticks. Not a lot of food. The pudding was pretty good ,I had the crumble. Was going to complain but 1 of our party was not well, so we left.

Love this pub. Food is slightly expensive but really tasty and fresh. Large glass of Red wine was £8.25 but you pay for the experience of a nice pub restaurant too, so this isn't a real moan. The attention of the waiting staff is very good and the feeling and atmosphere is exactly what you want from a pub/restaurant. We are fans and will definitely return more frequently. It stands out from others in the area.

Our first time here this evening as a family of 6 we all enjoyed our meals 3 of us had chicken tikka one had sausage and mash and the other burger and chips kids chicken dippers. Hubby moaned a little about the portion size of his burger and fries but it was tasty. Other then that good price good service lovely atmosphere will defo be going back 👌

Nice to be shown to our table. Server came promptly with menus. Good selection and a 2 course special lunch menu. Got busy quite quickly. Starter was served quickly, but had quite a wait for mains. Food hot and tasty. Good portion sizes. Server attentive and polite. Nice coffee. Good experience, will visit again soon.

Would not recommend this place for eating outside , they have a lovely garden but if your eating you must sit on the patio area next to the loud extractor fan from the kitchen not a very nice experience. Food presentation 1 Food taste -nice but dry , we had Brie bacon focaccia the bacon was very char grilled and very dry and no garlic mayo dip. Bbq chicken melt -very dry One drink and food and we are out of here, would return to sit outside for food .

The staff were friendly and cheerful and the food was good. They had a separate ngci (no gluten containing ingredients) menu but although it said steak and chips was an option it seems the chips were fried in the same oil as the battered fish so was not gluten free. No problem though as steak could be served with new potatoes or a jacket instead. Ice cream dessert was served with a wafer biscuit Would still go back again but would make more of a point of need for Gluten free diet.

Could not fault the staff, however the food had gone down hill. Last week and last night was not good. Would call in for a drink, but would not eat in this pub again.

Spoilt with choice of food but since I had a tooth taken out recently I was limited to eating soft food so I had risotto which was really nice and had red velvet cheesecake for afters and other was a big portion and I really enjoyed it

Arrived at the folly and it was a fairly quiet evening. We waited to be seated for about 5 minuets whilst staff were talking amongst themselves. Once we were seated our drink order was taken, we then waited 10 minutes for them to arrive! The waitress left without taking our food order. It was around 15 minutes before anyone had been to see us whilst more people were being seated. My daughter even had to go up to the bar to get more drinks. Our food order was eventually taken 20 minutes after we were seated. we waited 25 minutes for the food to arrive and disappointed was an understatement! we ordered the gluten free bread and butter, which came toasted and no butter. The food was extremely dry and warm with no sauce in the burger or coleslaw and MOULDY lettuce which had blackened around the edge. There was no check back on our food for us to be able tell a waitress it was wrong. I used to be a regular here and it's safe to say I will not return.

This pub should be a little goldmine on the edge of a new housing development. Went yesterday for drink and a sandwich. Was greeted by the most unhelpful man ever. Then when ordered food wasn't allowed to eat in garden had to eat on patio area when the table either side of me were eating. It doesn't state anywhere that there are designated areas to be eat. My son went and got another drink and asked for a blackthorn and a thatchers haze and the man who was in a green shirt and quite stocky said have the same cos I can't be bothered to go the other end of he bar!!!!! When my baguette was served I asked for sauces and the same mae said there at the bar you need to get them!!!!!Whilst we were eating a lady on crutches was telling the customers to queue properly and then with her crutch flew open the outside door. When speaking to other customer it turns out she was management!!!!! The waiting staff were amazing but the management well seriously Marston Inns you need to sort them out. No customer care at all. I won't be going back to this pub in a hurry disgusting 😡😡

I visited the Folly tonight, really warm welcome. Ordered Blackthorn which was served immediately. Decided I was a bit peckish and ordered food, served within 20 seconds!!!! I opened my bag of Mini Cheddar Branston Pickle flavour - they were fresh and tasted delicious, thoroughly recommended.

I just love this place, always manage to get a table, staff very friendly and wait for food never to long. I always go for the sirloin steak and sweet potato chips only thing I would say is it's a shame they don't put party's of 5 or more in the same area as it can get abit noisy if there is just 2or4 of you for a quiet meal and chat. But that's a chance you take anywhere. Would recommend the Folly

My sisters and I enjoyed our food but the poor waitress was rushed off her feet!Howeversheremained very cheerful and was happy to help. I hope all the tips are retained by the waiting staff because they thoroughly deserve them.

My favourite pub in the area. Nearly always the food is lovely Staff are friendly, but need more of them as we waited 10 minuets to be served and only two of us waiting!! They definitely need extra staff especially this time of year .Bit love it there.happy Christmas to you all.x

Friendly staff, nice food though Turkey was dry. Would return again, especially for lunch during the week.
