Review The Retreat Cafe - England

We visited here this morning myself and my daughter. After it was recommended by a work colleague. We got in nice and early. Extreamly clean welcoming staff with a upstairs also. We loved the fact we could see into the kitchen which I would like to say was spotless. Amazing HOT chocolate cream and marshmallows yummy 10/10 my daughter had a pot of tea with the cutest milk jug ever. She also had crossiant with butter and jam. Fabulous 👌 Other food coming out looked amazing and we're definitely be visiting again. Thank you to the lovely staff

A true gem of a breakfast treat. So good we went again the next day. Quality ingredients that were really tasty along with the friendliest staff. If you are in Newport treat yourself. You won't regret it

A once very popular cafe recently taken over by new owners. The decor has been slightly updated and the menu stripped down. It wasn't that busy but it took a surprising amount of time for my order to be taken, and the service was functional....a nice hello and how was your sandwich would have improved things. The sandwich and salad was quite good.

We booked a table for lunch and it was just as well as the place was full upstairs which is our prefered area. Service is never spanking quick here but once they start it rolls along nicely. The food is lovely and cheaper than most pubs. The tip dish is downstairs on the counter where you pay, I'm not sure if you can pay at the table.

We have been a number of times when we are in Newport, this week was the first time since closedowns. What a wonderful place to return to lovely choice of food, very friendly members of staff and very comfortable place to eat. The reason for stopping was we were doing a treasure trail which brought us to Scarrots Lane so being there it would have been rude not to stop, a member of staff mention that other customers also doing the trail had stop there for a break " Great minds" she said she was interested in the trail, so we was pleased to assist in helping plus it meant us returning a few days later, again to enjoy your wonderful food. Total joy to visit The Retreat Cafe - Tom & Carol

Lovely place to eat. The staff are all very friendly and I love the way the girls have a little sing song at the counter along to the music playing . Great friendly atmosphere . Nothing is any trouble and NOW they do a lovely vegetarian breakfast 😍

Lovely cosy cafe with really friendly staff, unbelievably fast service even during a busy lunchtime...Excellent value for money, all cooked to order with nice side salads and home made coleslaw. Very clean. Tucked away but still very popular!

Absolutely love this cafe, my wife and I always come here for lunch on our days off, such a great atmosphere, great service and yummy food really couldn't ask for much more. Keep up the fantastic work guys/girls :)

Hidden in Scarrots Lane Newport this establishment is often missed by tourists and non locals whom seem to favour the chains of Starbucks and Costa. Walk off the main streets and partake in a drink or meal here and you won't be disappointed. I recommend the 'Classic' Breakfast to start your day off with. It offers value for money and fills a hole nicely. For that and a latte you will get change out of £10.
