Went with colleagues for a leaving do dinner. Beside Epsom General Hospital. Has bar area and outside covered garden. Parking limited to a number of cars. Toilets maintained and spot clean. Ambience is really good. Live music. Staff accommodating. Depends on what food you like, but most of us tried the rib eye steak with peppercorn sauce and sweet potato on the side. I had it medium rare. It was alright for me but most of my colleagues had some issues with it. I guess its the quality of meat they use. Drinks and cocktails price affordable. They love the pina colladašŸ¹! Thumbs up for that šŸ‘. Ended up to try the lava chocolate bomb and creme brulee. It was good. Overall recommended. Will be back again.

This is a premium restaurant with smart casual dress code in the evenings. In summary, great food but you can tell it's new as there are still some teething problems, hence the 4 stars. We were very impressed with the quality of the food. Some of it is a bit pricey (I didn't order the stuffed aubergine as it's £18) including the chocolate lava dessert pictured which felt a bit gimmicky as the chocolate ball only contained a tiny piece of brownie and mini fudge pieces (for £9). But I really enjoyed the ricotta pasta which was fresh and rich. It's signature dishes are grilled, spiced meats. As a vegetarian, I was disappointed that items were not labelled properly in the menu as veggie or not (though they do have some nice veggie options). They seem to label vegan only. There was also confusion from the waitress about what was vegan vs vegetarian - we were originally told that none of the desserts were vegetarian and subsequently told that all of them were. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food and staff made an effort to provide a high standard of service. Parking is available and there was plenty on Sunday afternoon. I'd suggest finding some more tasks for the idle waiting staff (like drying the men's bathroom floor rather than leaving a wet floor sign) and remind them to take their aprons off when smoking outside. I wish them well in perfecting their offering here as there is great potential and the food deserves to be enjoyed. Give it a go on a special occasion!

Lovely place for a date or to go with friends, the place has a nice decor and the staff were very friendly. They do have a limit on the amount of time you can sit and eat which is unusual but it is clearly labled on their website and we did not feel rushed in there. I was a little disappointed that we went on a night that there was meant to be live music ( the whole reason for booking ) to find out upon arrival they had changed the day but hadn't felt it appropriate to phone all their bookings and tell them this ( a little un professional ) however the guy was apologetic and maybe they will learn from this. The food is at the higher end of the price point yet was well worth it as the flavour was spot on and all the food was full of flavour and was delicious. The drinks were great and had a nice selection. I would recommend this place as it has a lovely setting and food and decor make this stand out.

We had a large Christmas work dinner for around 18 people. Firstly, as soon as you walk into the restaurant, you know that this place means business. It is beautifully designed, with an amazing outdoor area, which I will definitely be using in summer. The food is of the highest quality and presented with finesse. All of our party members were thoroughly impressed with all 3 courses. The staff were attentive and kind, with a special mention to the manager who was overseeing all aspects of his restaurant to ensure everyone was having a great time. 10/10 would recommend...this one is worth travelling for!

When I heard the government guidance to ā€˜eat out to help out’ I didn’t need telling twice. ā€˜Hang on’ said my darling wife. ā€˜Boris means we need to start going to restaurants.’ Again, I didn’t need telling twice. The economy isn’t going to kick start itself you know. We settled on the Lava Lounge, a bar and restaurant, situated in the no man’s land between Epsom and Ashtead by the hospital. There’s plenty of parking and a chap at the door keeps things COVID-compatible with a temperature check. The magma management actually have three areas here - a stylish bar, an outside garden, and the restaurant. This is definitely a high-energy locale with the music playing in the restaurant too. It’s not overly loud at all, but this is definitely not the place for a quiet, intimate meal. This is a spicy venue for an upbeat night out. The drinks selection is very impressive with a huge selection of gins, whiskies, cocktails, and mocktails for the puritanical partier. We ordered two dishes - the lobster and the Lava mixed grill. The lobster was a bearnaise beast, slathered in sauce and served whole. The mixed grill had their signature marinated chicken and lamb chops with their own ā€˜Lava Sauce.’ Both were beautifully cooked and full of flavour. We went for pudding too with cinnamon churros and creme brulee. I would have taken a photo of these too, but we are too greedy and forgot. All in all a lively delicious dinner that blasted the cobwebs of COVID lockdown out the door. Minor criticisms would be the upbeat atmosphere won’t be for all, and many of the patrons were a Donald Trump-esque intense shade of orange, but hey - who cares. I thoroughly recommend you visit this energetic eatery. I was pleased to see the place packed. The place probably had about 15 people working. That’s 15 people in jobs during this wretched downturn. Independent places like the LL depend on us. So - eat out to help out!

Fantastic steak and good deserts. Food is really good and the decor is great. Not too fussed about the style of music for a sunday afternoon though... a bit too up tempo for me. I'm being picky now in that it would have been nice if our table between courses had been cleaned. Overall though one of the best places to eat in Epsom and I plan to go back and explore the menu.

Lava Lounge has to be my favourite local restaurant! I’ve been there a few times over the last weeks as they’ve had great lunch and dinner deals on, on top of that the food is first class and the cocktails never disappoint! The staff are friendly and chatty and the atmosphere is always fab. If you haven’t been already I highly recommend you go soon…

My daughter bought me here for really my first night out after 6 months being sick. Not gonna lie I loved every min of it. The staff were amazing especially the owner’s daughter who was an absolute delight food was delicious. My steak came out over done but was fixed straight away. Bar man James was lovely too. I would say it was expensive but to be fair it’s a lovely looking place and the food was good quality would definitely come back.

What a fabulous experience on Sat at my bottomless lunch….we had the best fun, I can’t believe it lasted almost 10hrs…..awesome!! The atmosphere, live sax player, food, attentiveness and friendliness of the staff was wonderful and of course the DJ topped off a perfect fun day. Even the gorgeous man on the door made us feel special from the moment we arrived…everybody in the group loved it from start to finish….we can’t wait to visit again soon.

The food is amazing here! The service is also great! Only thing I would recommend is checking the beer on tap as two of them definitely did not taste right! Myself and my partner go to various pubs and one of our favourites was on tap. But had a very odd taste to it! Otherwise had a lovely evening!
