A really welcoming and pleasant pub to have lunch in. The staff were friendly and took us to our table. We ordered drinks and it arrived promptly! We took a bit of time to peruse the menu as we were chatting, but once we ordered, the food came shortly after. It was delicious and hot!! We didn’t feel rushed and had a good catch up in between the food. There’s plenty of parking and the complex is well signposted.

We stayed at the parsonage for three nights and ate here on two evenings (would have been all three but had other plans) the food was delicious, the staff were very freindly and a lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely meal at that Fat Abbott. My friend and I both had fish and chips the fish was the size of a Whale. The meal was hot and tasty with good service and nice staff. I have been here many times and never been disappointed.

That was one of the best Mixed Grill's I've ever had in my life. Fantastic produce, no cheap rubbish. Compliments to the Chef and all the staff at the Fat Abbott. Thanks guys. Incredible food and service.👌👌👌 X

Food was really good quality and amazing value. We were staying in the area and liked that you could book a table online. Pleased we visited as one of our favourite meals since staying in York.

One of our favourite go to eat restaurants. Always good food, great atmosphere without being crowded and the staff always helpful and patient. We travel more than an hour to eat here, so that should tell you something.

Staying at the hotel right next to the pub and had a really lovely evening meal. The staff were so lovely. I had the ham hock terrine starter which was so tasty & then I got the beef bourguignon as my main. My main was perfect. SO delicious. I have never eaten kale before but I ate the whole lot! The beef was perfect; mash & the dumpling were incredible. If this was my local, I’d be back here very quickly.

Lovely place for Sunday dinner. Basic food but done really well, the staff are very helpful, and food is served tardily and plates cleared up quickly after. Simple but effective.

Amazing place for an evening meal. The food was tasty. The staff were very welcoming and were great in the way they interacted with our young grandson. The chocolate brownies were amazing!

Great atmosphere, lovely staff, comfortable, warm, friendly. The food was delicious. Between us we had chicken liver pate, ham hock terrine and chicken skewers with a very hot sauce. All very nice. The PAYE could do with an extra slice of bread as there was so much. ( But we could have asked) Fish, chips and crushed peas (the best chips) ox cheek, very good, melted in the mouth. Beef bourguignon. With a chive dumpling, very chivey. But lovely. Delicious sticky toffee pudding. And Eton mess rhubarb and custard. Definitely return. Very good.

Fully reccomend this gastro pub! We walked in on spec after visiting York for the day and it was on wsy back to Hollicarrs Holiday Park. Food was very nice: prawn cocktail, salmon bites, ox cheek & duck break all very yummy meals! So thank you for accommodating us at short notice. Servers were also friendly & gent behinf the bar was great for advising us on a taxi to get back. Cheers 🍻

The food here was excellent! I had the ox cheek with mash - meat was so tender and very tasty. The side of seasonal greens was generous, enough for two to share. The creme brulee was delicious, perfect crispy top, silky smooth texture, served with shortbread still warm from the oven. My dining companions were also very happy. Service was great, waiting staff were friendly and efficient. This was my first visit, but would definitely go back again, and highly recommend going

First time visit but on my online booking I'd made an error and arrived a week early. They still fitted us in and the food was amazing. Came for the roast beef and stayed for the sticky toffee pudding. Keeping my original booking and going back next week!
