Went for food at lunch time and got the mexican wraps.
Great portion size and fast service. Quality is also good, but some room for improvement with the sauces. Overall highly recommend this pub.
Came here for 2 nights for food whilst staying locally to climb.
Service was very friendly from everyone and itโs a lovely setting with a warm, old style pub feel with an open fireplace.
The food was great and opted for the pork belly both nights because it was so good! The burger and the steak pi
We stopped here for food after a day on the fells, the food was beautifully presented and as tasty as it looked. Service was perfect and the place is very well maintained. If you like whiskey, you'll love this pub as they have all you dreamed of and more
Loved my stay here, run by friendly welcoming people. The bar was cosy for a February evening, can imagine it is beautiful in the summer with the outdoor area. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast, early service at 7am was great as it gave me the chance to have an early breakfast before leaving fo
Great place after a long wet walk. They stoked the fire to dry us and our dog and gave us a nice welcome. Brilliant pint of Guiness too!
Such a wonderful location woth lovely staff and the most excellent evening food menu. We will be staying there again!
Lovely location and setting. Its a nice building and well kept for its age. Breakfast I had was delicious also. No hot water, though, so I couldn't have a shower or bath :(
Me and my wife stayed here recently. Had a really good time. A one night break as we have children. The views were great and the people were better. Very welcoming and topped off with a nice breakfast. The staff were very good aswel very helpful.
Character inn with small but comfortable rooms, great food and friendly staff. Stayed there to be relatively close to the Wast Water mountains (within easy driving distance)

Lovely warm room excellent walk in shower. Very clean and tidy. Enjoyed the coal roaring fire . Food and service was good.
The location is outstanding and our room has a double aspect allowing us to enjoy the surroundings. Now the important bit. The beer is superb. The Loweswater Gold is peerless. Food is also excellent. As is the service.
Lovely pub, staff very welcoming & friendly, food was great with good veggie options! ๐
Quite simply the best pub in the Lake District, if not the world.
Great beer, great food. fantastic staff. Marshy, John and the rest of the team make you so welcome and look after you every time.
Don't pass by, come in for a pint and a warm welcome!
Cracking place - stayed here before doing Scafell Pike the next day. They have great (well-conditioned) ales, tasty food (steak and ale pie fantastic), nice atmosphere in the bar, and decent rooms too. What marked this place out was the staff - who uphold a standard of customer service you don't get
Had a lovely meal here during our honeymoon. Great service, hearty food and dogs welcomed. Lovely end to our trip on the Lake District x
Visited on our last night of a camping trip for a meal and a drink. Beautiful setting; lovely old pub with very well maintained garden and activities. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. There was LOTS of food on our plates but I would have preferred higher quality and less.
We stayed in a BnB opposite and visited every evening, having food twice. The steak and ale pie might be the best pie I've ever eaten, huge portion and loaded with meat! The beer options were great and staff helpful, would thoroughly recommend.
Fantastic food, great service. Very clean and well maintained Inn with a lovely ambience. The food was delicious and very generous portions. We both had King Prawns in a chilli and garlic dressing served on sour dough for starters...yummy. I had Chicken, Ham and Leek Pie for main, which was cracking
