Visited the Bower last night. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere is excellent. The food was the best I have had in years! If you are looking for a perfect "pub" in the lakes then this is the place for you!!! Cannot recommend this place enough!
The perfect place for a meal to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. A warm and friendly welcome, great menu, freshly prepared food which tasted delicious and good service. It's great to find somewhere with quality vegetarian options too. Thank you very much for helping to make our anniversary so special.
Just home from a fab weekend, stayed in The flat, which has a twin and a double room, bathroom, kitchen, lounge, outside balcony and a porch. It was much more than I expected, lovely and clean and comfortable, excellent value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had our evening meal in the pub which was good pub grub and had a full English for breaky. No complaints from me, I will def be coming back :-)
We had a fantastic Hallowe'en evening Sat 27th, the bonfire and firework display was great, free food outside, we had a lovely meal inside. Beer was great, staff very friendly. Well worth a visit if you're in the area. We were staying at Banklands in Eskdale Green.
A lovely place with great staff
- The rooms were comfy and clean
- the pub was cosy and the food was amazing!
- the staff were friendly and a lot of fun
We have spent there two nights during bank holiday weekend. Room was nice, people friendly and food was just amazing!! Hunters chicken burger was really tasty. There is also few vegetarian options in the menu so if you are not meat eater you will still find something delicious for yourself. Well done Bower House Inn. See you next time ! :)
The Bowerhouse couldn’t do enough to accommodate my party of 6 (including 6 horses). Rooms great, food great, staff great. Thank you for a fab stay.
Last night off our 4 night stay . Had a good stay originally put in the outbuilding but changed us to a room inside the Inn when the wife asked. Food really good with generous potions also breakfast good with a varied selection . Been before and would definately return . Good base for walking etc .
Fantastic pub. Great atmosphere. The locals are friendly and welcoming. Food is 1st class and reasonably priced and staff are great. Thoroughly recommend this pub. A++++

Had lunch here with my husband, meal was gorgeous, can honestly say best fish & chips we've had for a long time, massive compliment that coming from my hubby who usually never eats the chips, staff were brill, very friendly and helpful, gardens are absolutely gorgeous, lovely spot
A warm and friendly welcome from all the staff. Food was delicious rooms clean and very comfortable. Had a great view from the Buttermere room. Thank you to staff who serenaded us and helped us celebrate our anniversary. We are already planning our next visit x
Great pub and accommodation. We stayed for 5 nights whilst walking in the fells around Wasdale, the double room was spotlessly clean with fabulous views, good choice for breakfast, pub meals in evening delicious. Staff friendly and helpful. Will definitely be visiting again!!
Enjoyed lovely pub grub after exhausting Scafell Pike climb. Staff were accommodating and friendly as were fellow diners. All accompanied by a roaring fire. Great pub. Highly recommended.
We turned up just after 5, on our way back from Coniston Water towards Wast Water. Although fully booked later in the evening, we got a table that had been reserved for later. The welcome, the atmosphere, the fire, the food, the tunes (at just the right level), all perfect! Well done, and thanks!
Went for food at lunch time and got the mexican wraps.
Great portion size and fast service. Quality is also good, but some room for improvement with the sauces. Overall highly recommend this pub.
Came here for 2 nights for food whilst staying locally to climb.
Service was very friendly from everyone and it’s a lovely setting with a warm, old style pub feel with an open fireplace.
The food was great and opted for the pork belly both nights because it was so good! The burger and the steak pie were also good choices from my friend.
We stopped here for food after a day on the fells, the food was beautifully presented and as tasty as it looked. Service was perfect and the place is very well maintained. If you like whiskey, you'll love this pub as they have all you dreamed of and more
Loved my stay here, run by friendly welcoming people. The bar was cosy for a February evening, can imagine it is beautiful in the summer with the outdoor area. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast, early service at 7am was great as it gave me the chance to have an early breakfast before leaving for work. The single room I stayed in had everything I needed, was warm and the bed comfortable. Thanks
Great place after a long wet walk. They stoked the fire to dry us and our dog and gave us a nice welcome. Brilliant pint of Guiness too!

Such a wonderful location woth lovely staff and the most excellent evening food menu. We will be staying there again!
Lovely location and setting. Its a nice building and well kept for its age. Breakfast I had was delicious also. No hot water, though, so I couldn't have a shower or bath :(
Me and my wife stayed here recently. Had a really good time. A one night break as we have children. The views were great and the people were better. Very welcoming and topped off with a nice breakfast. The staff were very good aswel very helpful.
Character inn with small but comfortable rooms, great food and friendly staff. Stayed there to be relatively close to the Wast Water mountains (within easy driving distance)
1st time sat had a meal really nice pub
Really nice food
Really reasonable price
Lovely warm room excellent walk in shower. Very clean and tidy. Enjoyed the coal roaring fire . Food and service was good.
The location is outstanding and our room has a double aspect allowing us to enjoy the surroundings. Now the important bit. The beer is superb. The Loweswater Gold is peerless. Food is also excellent. As is the service.
Lovely pub, staff very welcoming & friendly, food was great with good veggie options! 😊

Quite simply the best pub in the Lake District, if not the world.
Great beer, great food. fantastic staff. Marshy, John and the rest of the team make you so welcome and look after you every time.
Don't pass by, come in for a pint and a warm welcome!
Cracking place - stayed here before doing Scafell Pike the next day. They have great (well-conditioned) ales, tasty food (steak and ale pie fantastic), nice atmosphere in the bar, and decent rooms too. What marked this place out was the staff - who uphold a standard of customer service you don't get in many places. The chap behind the bar, James, greeted us warmly before pulling a selection of excellent (locally brewed) pints. Thoroughly recommend.
Had a lovely meal here during our honeymoon. Great service, hearty food and dogs welcomed. Lovely end to our trip on the Lake District x
Visited on our last night of a camping trip for a meal and a drink. Beautiful setting; lovely old pub with very well maintained garden and activities. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. There was LOTS of food on our plates but I would have preferred higher quality and less.
We stayed in a BnB opposite and visited every evening, having food twice. The steak and ale pie might be the best pie I've ever eaten, huge portion and loaded with meat! The beer options were great and staff helpful, would thoroughly recommend.
Fantastic food, great service. Very clean and well maintained Inn with a lovely ambience. The food was delicious and very generous portions. We both had King Prawns in a chilli and garlic dressing served on sour dough for starters...yummy. I had Chicken, Ham and Leek Pie for main, which was cracking whilst my wife had Belly Pork and she loved it. Will definitely visit again.
