Dog friendly traditional pub. Tasty food (large portions ) and a wide ranging menu. Visited for an evening meal whilst camping locally. Friendly staff and locals made it a very pleasant visit. Full marks for the young waiter, Stanley😁👍

Lovely stop on the way back from a walk. The tables were all reserved but the barman was very helpful, giving us one of the reserved tables on the condition that we would finish before that reservation. Propper pub food and a good pint. I had steak and ale pie and a pint of bitter.

Went up for a weekend in mid January. Nice open fire and friendly staff. Restricted menu, but totally understand due to the time of the year.

Rooms recently totally renovated. Very clean and comfortable in a great location. Beer is good and the food is well prepared. Portions are large. Don't expect fine dining but the prices are very good. Great atmosphere in and outside the pub.

Good food and welcome drinks after a hot day. We were a group of 3 families with 5 young children, The staff were amazing, got some paw patrol on to keep the kids happy and plates were cleared. Couldn't ask for anything more.

Dropped by on the way to Hawkshead from Boot Pool. A few years ago, but that’s my red MGB and the pub was named Tattegarth. Great beer and pub food!! The photo with the MGB is posted separately! Can’t add here!!

A traditional pub I would daresay in a very amazing / central location, which offers accommodation as well (which we came to know later). The food was amazing and my 6 year kid enjoyed the pizza and fries. The chicken burger portions were massive and especially after a long walk, the food here will be enough to bring your energy back. The pub has a lot of history, evident from the photos displayed, that were taken almost 100 years old. The hosts are ever accommodating, and I would definitely ask you to try their pizza or burgers. There are tables on the back and on outside for a sunny day. Pool table is also available

We ate a couple of times here, both times it was welcoming and they even fitted us in without a booking on a Friday evening (very thankful for that one), the food is excellent, good portion size and reasonably priced too, the Steak and Ale pie was outstanding, how do they make it so good in Cumbria??, we left full up and happy and will return another time in the future. All in all a lovely experience and deserving of 5 stars.

Lovely food. Veg stew delish. Great selection of local beer and cider. And if you're camping locally, it's dry and has a real roof. Yay.
