Read an article about the best roasts in Herts and this place was listed - it didn’t disappoint! Took my boyfriend for his birthday, then we brought the rest of family for my lunch. Amazing food and great service. It’s also excellent value for money.

Great pub and restaurant. I was there last night for my partner's 70th Birthday. Although it was a Saturday night there was only the 6 of us and another table of 2. Such a shame as the menu is good and the food is cooked to order. Would definately recommend

Dinner, Saturday. We loved our date night meal at Rose & Crown. Full of stunning flavour and presented in elegant and charming ways - each dish has its own charm and leaves you wanting more! Lovely cocktails and great service too! We’ll be back ☺️

If you’re looking for a traditional village pub, then this place has moved on a lot! It apparently reopened in August 2021 following a major refurbishment, and now has the service and feel of a restaurant. Came here for Sunday lunch on the King’s Coronation weekend and the food was faultless. At £48 for 3 courses (plus 12.5% service charge) this is more expensive than most gastropubs, but the food quality is also much better. Service was friendly & attentive, and the modern dining room had a light & airy feel. Would most definitely recommend eating here, but would go elsewhere for a casual pint!

Wow - delightful! Lovely refined cooking packed with flavour. The base produce also feels excellent (we ate fish and everything was great). I assume the same produce is used for the bar menu - which makes that a very interesting proposition also.

There is not a thing we would change about our experience tonight. My partner and I have not stopped talking about how incredible the food was. We came to this unassuming pub on a whim and will be returning as soon as we can. Absolutely perfect!

Delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere in a beautiful village. Slightly on the expensive side but a lot of the food is homemade and fresh so it's definitely worth a visit!

Visited here on a whim for the first time in a good few years. Most impressed - the food exceeded my expectations. Many pubs and restaurants in the area like to think they serve ‘gastro pub’ quality food, when they serve average pub grub at best. This places delivers on the food quality without question and for the same price that you get mediocre chain pub food elsewhere. Staff are great too, clearly put their heart and soul into it.

We stopped to have lunch and we were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked through the door. Our pet pooch was offered a bowl of water which was very much appreciated due to the warm weather. We would definitely recommend and also revisit in the near future.

WOW! I used to come here with my family years ago and was thrilled to hear it had reopened after being renovated. We went with our children and my husbands family. Everyone was so impressed. The food really was exceptional and even my father in law who did a lot of entertaining in London said you’d struggle to find better in the west end. Small menu perfectly done. Even the children’s food was so tasty. Presentation was wonderful and the desserts were exquisite. You could tell everything was super fresh and cooked to order. Debbie the owner was so personable and lovely and clearly takes much pride in her beautiful pub. The decor amazing too as we’re the toilets! Lovely garden doe the children to run round and had a good view of it from our table too. Cannot wait to go back again.

I'm lucky enough to live reasonably local to the Rose and Crown; what a treat it is. We had a great meal last week, hard to fault one thing. The food was outstanding and so were the staff. Tasting menu had something for everyone; dessert was amazing. Nice, well priced, and wine. You can also have posh pub food in the bar. I believe the menu is changing soon, so check that out first. Well worth a visit, we have booked again. Cocktails were brilliant. This is London quality, food and drinks, in a Rural location. Bar was also lovely.

One of the best restaurant experiences of my life. They would deserve more than 5 stars, maybe a Michelin as well.

Outstanding, the menu is deliberately kept small albeit perfectly adequate, the quality and presentation of the food is exquisite. Don't confuse the name with a pub, this is a first class restaurant as good as Auberge Du Lac in its pomp. Alex Parker, the head chef, is a rare find and a very talented young man.

Excellent pub we stopped at during a walk. I had the homemade sausage roll, which I have to say was the best sausage roll ever, with a mixed salad. Service excellent. Will definitely return.

Came here for a lovely dinner on a Friday evening where we had the tasting menu... It was absolutely faultless. It was so good that we booked ourselves in for a Sunday lunch! Sunday lunch was amazing too! So happy we found this gem; we’re looking forward to coming back :)
