Stopped for lunch ahead of the countryside walk - really, really lovely pub & totally awesome burgers. One burger was beef, and the other one - vegetarian. Both plates were empty at the end of the meal! Definitely recommend.

Looking for somewhere to eat on the first night of our holiday and found this pub. So glad we did, lovely warm welcome from Charlotte when we arrived. We were only going to have a main meal but saw potted shrimps on the menu for a starter and had to have them. We have never seen them on a menu where we live. They were devine.Main course excellent and lovely and hot. The locals, staff and landlady were so friendly. We have booked again and hope to have room for dessert next time. If you are in the area pop in you won't be disappointed. Update; Went back for second visit and yet another wonderful meal. Fish and chips (lovely thick piece of cod with beautiful batter) hubby had the pan fried pork with cider gravy which he loved and he could not stop talking about the wonderful gravy. Had dessert this time homemade apple pie and custard (yummy) and sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce and ice cream which was the best sticky toffee pudding I have ever eaten and I have eaten quite a few during my 64 years. Ended the evening with a tia maria coffee which was served in a beautiful coffee cup. Will be back for sure to this excellent friendly pub.

My friends & I visited here on 18/5/23 for the first time & were impressed with the fantastic & friendly service we received from Jane. The food was beautiful & freshly cooked by André, I believe (not sure of spelling). The prices were very reasonable. Jane explained they don't open every day as there isn't the call for it - they are open Thurs to Sunday & on Bank Holidays. We will definitely be returning 👍🏻

Jane is so friendly and proffessional, qmazing service. And the food was really special, we had a Sunday roast, the meat was just right Lamb and Beef, lots of vegetables, the selection of starters and suites just right. Cant wait to go again. All this and well priced £60 for 2x3 courses with wine.

We had our second meal here last night and it was as good as the first one. We were spoilt for choice, there being different things to try as well as firm favourites. The friendly service from both Jayne and Andre is second to none. Nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely be going there again. Their music night last week was good as well. It’s worth a visit.

Called in on the off chance it would still be open (last visit well before COVID). Absolutely delighted it was open still with Jane and Andre Burnley at the realm. Had the scallops which were succulent and beautifully cooked just how I had remembered them. Had a lovely chat with Jane and Andre which was very special to me. I had made a detour from Monmouth on my way home to Derbyshire doing a journey I had made with my late husband whom Jane had remembered, quite amazing since we had only been there twice before. I hope that I have the opportunity to eat there again.

I found this friendly location extremely welcoming, happy to help, I was able to get a delightful snack and an ice cold drink which was most welcome as the outside air temperature was around 30+
