Overall a decent visit.
Firstly the architecture/decor. The building itself is really old so navigating the narrow flights of stairs can be a challenge to the elderly or those with walking issues. That being said, the decor is amazing and feels really cosy with the various ornaments, furniture, lighting and benches. Variety of seating options both indoor and outdoor across the 4 floors making great use of the space available.
Props to the staff, friendly service and somehow never sounding out of breath despite carrying stuff up and down stairs all shift!
Food was good. Quite expensive but also served with good portion sizes. Some of the starters are the price of a main at other restaurants but again the quality and portion size was good. It's not the best I have tasted hence 4/5 but still a very good meal enjoyed by all in our group.
Next time I would like to try some of the balcony seating or some shisha if the weather permits.

Such a great place when you’re with a group with varied dietary and ethical requirements. We were one vegetarian, one vegan, and one who can’t eat gluten. We shared almost everything we ordered and loved all of it! Very well marked menu, with lots of option. the flavours and variety are something you just can’t recreate at home. Good value (we were all very full for £20-25 each). Really great and attentive service, easy to access location.

I recently dined at Al-Farid, and it was an exquisite experience from start to finish. The Lamb Tagine is an absolute must-try, and it's a dish I'd happily return for. The staff were not only friendly but also attentive, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The manager's warm greeting made me feel like a valued guest. This restaurant is a true gem for those who appreciate delicious Moroccan cuisine and exceptional hospitality. I can't wait to go back!
I highly recommend them.
Thanks for a wonderful experience.

I really loved this place.
It's sat right on Cathedral square, in view of the Cathedral itself.
A tiny frontage to the building deceives you into thinking its a small place as inside the tardis effect happens.
You are met with a heavily decorated reception lounge and its beautiful. Moroccan and Lebanese lanterns and ceiling shades everywhere. It's was quite romantic and cosy.
We were taken to our table very quickly and serviced within minutes. Our order taken, polite banter with the waiter achieved, and pronunciation of the dishes fumbled with style.
Our meal was perfect. Duck and Prawn dishes were chosen, and they didn't let us down with presentation and taste.
Compliments to the chef as it was delightful.

Chef amd staff are a mix of Iranian, Afghan and Arab, cafe style Moroccan/North African. Casablanca vibes. Nostalgic ambience - choc full of bric-a-brac. Servings are adequate enough - the starter was a meal in itself! Halal! Should be on any foodie list when visiting Exeter.

Located at the Cathedral, right opposite to the Ivy, Al Farid specialises in Lebanese and Moroccan cuisine. I visited this place a few days ago, and I must say that you should always book a table beforehand because the place is extremely crowded and you’ll have to wait for a long time if you haven’t booked anything in advance. We had to wait for a long time until we were seated and then we had to wait again for quite some time before we could place our order.
The prices are a little high here with main course starting from £18 and above, but the quantity is good and the taste is phenomenal. We ordered a kebab shish platter for £42 and a joleh soltan chicken meal for £21. The platter was huge and consisted of khuboos, lamb and chicken kebabs, potato dolma and some chickpeas. The lamb kebab was one of the juiciest I’ve had but the chicken kebab was extremely dry. The rice here is cooked beautifully so that was a joy to enjoy.
Overall, I’d recommend this place.

Delicious food, we had the meze and had vegetarian options, they were all delicious. Mushrooms with barberries had so much flavour. pearl cous cous salad is cold, but refreshing. Stuffed peppers warm and cheeses, the vineleaves were incredible, so soft and tasty, as were the beetroot Falafel lovely crispy outside. The hummous with the hot red pepper is spicy so be warned! Still very delicious. All meze comes with pitta bread in the middle. We had the deal for 6 dishes which you save yourself £2.70 on. There is a deal with a bottle of wine too. Though we weren't drinking. Quite sweet option's for soft drinks. Next time I want to try the fresh mint tea or orange blossom tea. We had the spur cherry pistachio cake abd a chocolate pudding for dessert. Bith very yummy. Highly recommend visiting. The staff are very attentive and incredibly quick serving and paying for the bill. We will be back. Thank you.

The food was so authentic and delicious. The staff were lovely to the customers and somehow very attentive even though they were spread between 4 floors! The price was high but very reasonable for the high quality of food and service. The shisha lounge was very cosy. The staff working that area were really friendly and helpful when explaining the hookah. Absolutely would recommend for a great evening out!

Our 2nd visit to this lovely little restaurant. The first time was early eve a year ago and we were lucky to get a table, so this time we booked, which was a good job as it was very busy. The first time we ate the meze but this time went down the main course route. Both times the food has been excellent, the service is very good with helpful advice about the authentic menu choices.

Popped in after 8pm on a Saturday night on the off chance for a table of two. Obviously they were full but asked to take a seat and they would see what they could do. Ordered two bottles of Moroccan lager which was fab, far to drinkable and given menus to check out. Waited maybe 10 minutes then told they had a table for us. Chose dishes off the meze menu including fig and cheese parcels which were fab and one of the best houmous I have tasted. Great service in a fantastic atmosphere, would happily eat here again and again. Thank you guys
