This is certainly my most favorite Indian dining place in Exeter. The price is very cheap for the quantity they give and the food is extremely flavourful. I really like their different rice varieties such as keema rice and vegetable pulao. Even their chicken main dishes are very good. My favourite is Chicken Madras and Chicken Dopiaza. Really tasty food at excellent prices.
Initially a little concerned; staff stood around talking behind a takeaway looking counter with no effort at making customers welcome and we were the only two diners.. but it was worth taking the risk!
As soon as the food came out, our worries were over, our dishes were very well presented and tasted even better. Plenty of flavour, tender chunks of chicken and spice filled sauces.
Will definitely visit again when I fancy a tasty treat!
After months of walking by since it’s opening saying, “we need to try this place” my husband and I finally did and were very pleased with our entire experience! Between the truly yummy food, reasonable prices, and proximity to our home, Spice Aroma is a new favourite and I could see us becoming regulars.
Consistently good, I get takeaways from here fairly regularly and have tried quite a few of their different curries and all have been great. You can tell just by looking that they're well made, the sauces are thick and full of plenty of diced and chopped ingredients rather than just thin and watery. All the dishes are full of flavour and portion sizes are pretty decent too.
It my new favourite Indian restaurant in Exeter. They have a good variety of vegetarian dishes and starters at affordable prices. The portions are good too. My favourite are Aloo tiki Chana chat and special rice. I also enjoy Punjabi samosa chat and saag aloo. Will be getting our food from here often and would definitely recommend it. It is located in the heart of the city and they deliver or you can dine-in.
I was worried about the McDonald's style food boards outside but the food came out much better than spice magic and denley's combined.
Highly recommended and will be back for more.
Restaurant was full of Indian/Asians which is a very good sign when choosing an authentic Restaurant.
I ate here two days in a row and was impressed with the food each time. I've been looking for high quality food in Exeter for a while and Spice Aroma does not disappoint. They use quality ingredients and their experienced chefs create dishes that feel like home. I particularly enjoyed the Sylhet Gost, Tandoori Chicken and Lamb Sheesh Kebab. It is clear that a lot of care and effort has been put into every dish. I am excited to return and try more dishes on the menu. The staff and friendly and helpful and will adjust the dishes as per your preferences.
Update: I ate at Spice Aroma yet again! Thoroughly enjoyed the salmon jalfry and aaloo tikki chaat. Tasty as always.
I started with Samosa with channa which is best for the starters with really good taste and best chicken tikka I ever had in Exeter, mint sauce should be spicy to give a maximum taste of the grill things and it also gives the touch of Indian food with spices.
I recently ordered a takeaway meal from Spicy Aroma and it was exceptional! The staff were courteous and attentive when taking my order.
The lamb vindaloo was cooked to perfection with tender, flavorful lamb and the right level of spice. The sauce was rich and delicious. The peshwari naan bread was equally impressive, freshly baked with a fluffy texture and a delightful coconut and raisin filling.
10/10 would recommend Spicy Aroma
Friendly staff, clean premises, fresh decor, good portion sizes, and food tasted amazing at a great price! Really hit the spot when we were starving at around 7pm, just walked in, sat down and ordered, no faff. They warmed the plates and food came out of the kitchen fast. My husband and I eat lots of Indian/Pakistani food and we can genuinely say that the food quality here is superb. He's been wanting to visit for ages as he knew they were newly opened and it was definitely worth the wait.
Very nice Paneer Tikka masala with Pilau rice. Food was delivered quickly, good portion sizes and decent value for money. Curry was delicious so will definitely be back.
Wow! What a curry... I've been looking for a local place with authentic Indian food since arriving in Exeter from Birmingham.
Had the biriyani and it was a portion enough for two.

Spice Aroma is easily the best South Asian dining experience I've had in Exeter. The staff are kind, friendly, amicable, and full of character. Their service thankfully does away with the theatrical pretentiousness of fine dining style outlets, but they are still top class and the food is second to none when compared with other local Indian options. The menu is diverse and ranges from classic British Indian favourites to more authentic dishes from across the Subcontinent thereby catering to all kinds of customers, but be sure to specify what kind of preparation you prefer if typical British Indian fare is not what you're after. The kitchen staff have heaps of experience between them and they'll surely be able to match, if not surpass, your expectations.
My recommendation for future customers are the samosa chaat, tandoori chicken and the lamb mince kebab, but the entire menu is worth testing out, one visit at a time!
Lovely staff, attentive and efficient. Delicious meals, the only reason I am not giving a 5* is because of a mix up with what my partner requested. He is fussy and doesn't like what he refers to as "veg" in his food so requested it to come without. Unfortunately for him, it came with makes of onion and other bits which he couldn't eat so we swapped. I loved it.
