Wow, had an amazing meal this evening via a Travelzoo voucher bought as a present for our anniversary. Fantastic food (enormous portions!!) in a relaxed environment, lovely staff who couldn’t do enough for us. Will definately be returning to this little gem hidden away in Farley
An excellent meal, great service, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, and a fantastic range of beers and wine....
We visited the Hook on our trip down from Leeds. We were here on a Friday early evening and as soon as we walked in we were welcomed into such a friendly atmosphere, as if we were locals. It is incredibly dog friendly. The food was lovely with good hearty portions and local veg!
The best bit was the staff! We didn’t get their names, but the gent and lady there were so bloody lovely. Thank you!
Great country side pub! The sunday roast was good, big portions; well cooked veggie, chicken was juicy and the beef was delicious (my partner said it was the best beef he has tried in a sunday roast). Rollo cheesecake with ice cream was really tasty.
The waiter (probaby he was the owner) couldn't be nicer and helpful. Definitely a place to come back and recommend
Wonderful. Go, drink great beer and eat lovely food. Welcoming staff and friendly locals, what more could you want? Shame Lobster Night is sold out, we'll keep watching for the next one.
So we stopped off for dinner and they were very accommodating especially getting me in with my wheelchair. The lady explained what's in the food and we ordered the game pie and the chicken ham and leek pies. Both pies are think deep and full. Very tasty and pastry perfectly cooked crisp chunky chips. And season veg to top it off absolutely lovely and full of taste. Lemon tarte and maltesser cheesecake both full of. Flavour and good sized.
My only little issue was the runny gravy with the pie tasty but didn't coat the pie or the chips. And the chicken ham and leek pie would be better served with a cheese sauce maybe?? Anyway still lovely place and food
Booked a table after reflecting on old times, it had been 18 or so years since last here. On arrival we were greeted with a smile and offered a table of our choice. Menu's (during covid time) were adequate but the star here was the Hunter game pie.
Oh my days, this was a plate to die for. More broad beans than I grew all last year and the medley of colours to the carrots out shone the huge offering of chunky chips and blooms of broccoli. However the splendid selection of vegetables did not prepare me for the wow factor that came with the pie. A robust pastry held together a plethora of tastes and textures of hearty meats, filled up with gravy and carrot.
I was not going to let the chef down, however the chips had to come second best, the plate beat me.
I will be back for more.
After a pleasant wander around Bentley Wood stumbled across this wonderful pub. Some of the best Pub food I've had in a long while. Highly recommended.
Really lovely service, beautiful garden and fabulous food. My mum was so pleased with her fish and chips...and she never compliments!!! Highly recommended.
What an amazing meal. It was honestly the best fish and chips I'd ever had and the Mars cheesecake and the lemon pie were to die for.
The pub welcomed our 2 greyhounds with dog treats and the staff were so lovely.
I'd definitely recommend going there.
We will be back very soon.
Fabulous country pub with great food, amazing service and a brilliant atmosphere! Came for lunch for husbands birthday and had just the very best time! Will definitely be back!!!
Great village pub with superb food. A very friendly welcome with excellent beer and a good menu. What more could you ask for of a country pub. I’ll be back.
