The most scrumptious Sunday dinner I've had in a long time. Free home made soup to start with and you could tell from that first mouthful that you were in for a treat. The generous portion of lamb was so tender, the mash sublime. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and overall a lovely place. Obviously popular, so you may need to book but we were very lucky that they had a cancellation. Would definitely recommend!
We had heard many a great thing about Copperfields but never tried it until this weekend. All the great things you have heard..... All completely true. The cafe itself is very unassuming and it's almost a blink and you miss it sort of place (which is a good thing which I'll explain below) inside it's like being back your mum's house or your favourite persons house to eat. Its warm, tidy, exceptionally clean and very welcoming with various sayings on the walls and interesting items dotted about. The menu gives a nice selection of options plus a few specials and deserts on blackboards on the wall. The prices... Less than £9 for an adult meal and less than £7 for a child's meal and in a moment you will see why not only is it already a bargain but becomes even more so. We ordered the goats cheese tart and steak pie for adult meals and then chicken nuggets and ham and egg for the kids. All freshly cooked to perfection. Some of the best chips I've ever had, proper home cooked chips. They came really quick too did the main meals. We ate the lot, it was too good not to. The portion size was great, not over faced and not tiny either. It was the perfect amount all round... Then the even better bit. The dessert was included in the meal price... You read that correctly the desserts were included in the meal price . So we had choc fudge cake and rubharb crumble, all home made and again were treated to some exceptional home made delights. The service was friendly and efficient and they were so entertaining and engaging with our kids. The bill, for 4 people to eat with dessert and a total of 5 drinks... £34. £34, probably couldn't do McDonald's for that price for the amount of food and drinks and certainly wouldn't be as nice as it was here. So I hope you all continue to pass it by and not pop in for food as it means there is more space for us to go and eat in there more regularly, however if you do want to go in and you really should, then PLEASE book in advance soooo many were unlucky on the day as it was so busy and couldn't get in for a table. Absolutely outstanding work by the owners/staff, we can't wait to come in again!
One of the best eating experiences I've had, it was five star food, home cooked delicious and plenty of it!!! lovely staff ready with a smile and a joke, lovely background music to suit most tastes, and an excellent price, we will definitely go back!!!
we spent 7 days in nth Yorkshire and this was by far the best breakfast . We has the full english and feel it was under priced at £7.95, well worth a couple of pounds more. service was excellent friendly staff nice clean and homely. Will recommend to all.
Great food home cooking at its best. Home made steak pie was very tasty as was the gravy, had rhubarb crumble with custard which was stunning.Lovely friendly owners, spotlessly clean. Would definitely recommend and will be going again. Would advise booking a table Best meal out I have had whilst we have been here.
Two courses, Home cooked for under £10. Tasty and plenty. But book ahead!
Fantastic food ( couldn't believe the portion size) really tasty homemade food. Lovely staff, warm and welcoming. Dog friendly, brilliant music. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Plenty of friendly people already enjoying lunch, friendly service, eat in or take out including doggy bags.
Absolutely fantastic meal definitely earned 5 stars, went with my friend Debs. Owners made us feel very welcome, lovely banter. All food homemade, definitely going back next time we meet up.
A sign on the door advises you to book to avoid disappointment. The reason soon became clear as this is a small cozy restaurant and the quality of the food is second to none. Great choice of delicious home cooked meals. The food is prepared fresh and there is plenty of it. The place is spotlessly clean and full of charm and character. Two of us enjoyed a substantial two course meal with soft drinks for just over £20. Which, all things considered, is very reasonable.
The best recommendation I can give is to say that I shall be returning often.
