Went on - Tuesday. Food was served hot and fresh! Waiter was friendly and waiting times where low. Only thing that let them down was the curry had alot of salt! Apart from that amazing food and amazing staff. Thank you guys!!!

We enjoyed a great meal at Jinnah York. A friendly team with fast service and wonderful decor. Highly recommended, with just the one drawback, the carpets were in dire need of replacing or a VERY deep clean.

Really good food. Mixed sizzler starter, Handi curry for main, with rice & a shard family plain naan. All really tasty. Excellent service. Clean toilets. Was not busy when we were there, so cannot really comment on the atmosphere. Would recommend.

Stopped by enroute from York to Snainton where we were camping. Wasnt sure what to expect but wasnt disappointed. Ok, the place does look like it needs a refurb and you can tell they have started on the bar/waiting area and toilets. The food though, you cant fault, really tasty, good portion size, all great! It doesnt look that appealing from the outside and you maybe tempted to drive past but i would genuinely recommend calling in. Lastly, the staff were all friendly and more than helpful. I had a couple of small issues - i had the first pint after a barrel chnage and it didnt taste right, swapped for a botte of Cobra straight away, no issues. My daughter was sharing the main meal with my wife and she didnt like the Massala (too coconut-y) but getting a new dish for her was quick and arrived in a few mins so we could continue eating together.

Lovely food! Came this evening for the buffet. The interior decor is beautiful. The staff are all in authentic clothing and very friendly. Lovely atmosphere and no pressure to hurry up and eat. The buffet had numerous dishes from very mild to hot. Certainly didn't leave hungry and will definitely be returning.

It’s not often we get all the family together but when we do we often end up at the Jinnah, the staff are friendly and incredibly helpful, the restaurant is clean and tidy and the food is spot on! My family have continued to visit this restaurant since I was a young girl and it’s always reached its expectations

Visited on a Saturday night and found plenty of parking and a real nice looking restaurant. Very clean and really well decorated. The Lady who met us was very friendly and welcoming and the food was excellent. Highly recommended 👌

Just love this place, the host was pleasant and just the right out of friendly. The service was flawless, the food delicious and decor comfortable and clean. Will definitely be revisiting next time we are in York area.

Always a pleasure to eat here! Great food! Great friendly staff! Buffet is super value for money! Al-a-cart available too fully equipped bar etc (cash only at the moment as at may 2018 due to card machine been broken) small notice on door that's easy to miss and not informed at table so be warned! Possibly fixed when you visit but ask the staff if your not sure but don't let it put you off it's a great meal

We visit here 10-12 times a year, that speaks volumes as we like to try different places. The service is excellent and I have to wonder how they manage to remember what drinks we order! Even when we haven't been for a few months. Farooq is our favourite waiter, and it is always a pleasure to chat with him. The food is always good and the buffet represent excellent value.

I love Jinnah, my fiance loves Jinnah, our 3 kids all love Jinnah. It's the bomb. Great food but more exceptionally they have excellent service. They're great with the kids, attentive and understanding to a 3 year olds mess even in such lovely surrounding. An all round pleasureable dining experience with nothing ever being too much trouble for the staff. We bypassed Jinnah once to try the Aagrah on the way home and drove straight past because we knew we'd made a mistake. Darned fools we are. There used to be a Jinnah in Leeds near my friends and that was awesome too.

As has already been said, this restaurant is a cut above your average Indian restaurant. If you wish to be picky it's actually a Pakistani restaurant. But that aside the food is incredibly flavoursome and there is a huge selection on offer. Many that are unfamiliar to regular Indian food junkies. The premises are special, unique I would say. Large and spacious with good quality décor. You know that you are in for a treat as soon as you see the size of the place and the number of cars in the car park. Bearing in mind it's odd location you just think to yourself people must have travelled miles to get here. So it must be good and it is.

This restaurant is superb. We have been there many times and never been disappointed. An excellent menu. Only bad point is location out of York.

up date there is a sister restaurant in york itself! and dare i say tastier!!! i cannot find address but its near the opera house . after a a period away from qype i finally found a place i want to rave about!! my senitments are exactly as for those that have reviewed before me! though it is expensive, but bare in mind, the grandeur of the place, table cloths, an linen napkins. the number of staff per area, its worth the little extra!! also all the ladies left with a rose, though gimmicky, was a very nice touch. they have a buffet which we will definately try at some point! (ring for times) we had the a la carte menu, of nepalese chicken, can't remember the lamb dish hubs had, an cannot find fault with any thing, the lamb was lean and melted in the mouth. (no fatty or grissly bits) the spice level just so. the menu offers a choice of spice levels an love the terminology they use to discribe the dishes, ie for the weaker palette, etc its an extensive menu, with the normal rogan josh, korma dishes (about similar pricing as other indian restaurants, its the specialty dishes that cost more) an some that i've not seen before. but we both tried out new dishes, an both were superb an tasted different from each other. mushroom rice, peshwari nan, takka dahl (this had a touch of coconut in it, which was perfect for the spicier dishes we had) an a sag ponier, excellent! not forgetting the poppadoms an pickle tray! and for once a choice of two onion salads! as we both adore onion salad, theres always a fight for the last scoop! in fact there was enough left for a doggy bag, an the left overs were placed in plastic containers, an did very nicely for, my poor son who had to stay at home! and even he enjoyed the lamb dish! as he normally wont eat lamb as he finds the meat fatty. the atmosphere is relaxed, but attentive, so no hovering as you eat! so you never feel rushed. its a large restaurant, but the seating plan an lay out, gives you a sense its smaller then it is an adds a cosy feel to the place. there is a large comfortable lounge area you can sit in after your meal or while you wait for a table, price for drinks as you would expect, nothing made me gasp an think i'll have a small one or water please. the ladies toilets, very clean! through out, even in the corners! in fact i found it hard to spot gathering of dust anywhere in the restaurant! also the car park is a nice size an all bays well marked. so why travel into york, pay for car parking??

We were staying along the road from this restaurant and after reading good reviews online we decided to visit for the Thursday night buffet. The restaurant was busy, including a whole section reserved off for a large party. I thought this was a good sign. The first problem I had was with the service. I explained we had booked a table, the gentleman showing us to our table looked extremely confused and said booked? It wasn't a good first sign! We then had 2 Al La Carte menus dumped onto the table infront of us and the waiter walked off. No mention of the buffet. We sat waiting until he came back and we asked about the buffet: Oh yes I forgot, here you go and we were handed a tatty piece of A4 paper about the buffet. As part of this buffet we received poppadoms and pickles, then a selection of starters which consisted of random pieces of meat and no explanation from our server as to what they were. I noted the meat was all cheap cuts for example, the chicken tikka was tiny drumsticks. I was willing to let this pass. We were then waited on by several different people who all kept asking if we were having the buffet, if we had had our starters yet, what stage of the buffet we were at, had we had our pickles etc. we got tired of repeating ourselves! There were some regulars coming into the restaurant receving warm service and the staff took time to stand and chat to them. Would have been nice if they treat new customers this way too! Finally it came to the main buffet. We wandered over and realised there were no serving spoons. A waiter quickly came running around with serving spoons apologising. We then noticed signs all over the buffet. If you leave food on your plate you receive a £2 surcharge on the bill which they strictly reinforce! So much for sampling dishes you've never tried before (as per the buffet menu) because if you don't like it and leave it, then you pay extra. I stuck to my favourite, Chicken Tikka Masala for the main which was described as mild. Myself and my partner aren't ones for spicy hot curries but my partner opted for the Chef's Special which was described as Medium. The buffet sheet had stated we could have a choice from a selection of Nan's but we didn't get given a choice, it was only a plain nan left on our table. I started tucking into my curry (Tikka Masala) and immediately I noticed the complete lack of taste to it. I've honestly never tasted something so completely tasteless in my life. I didn't mention it to my partner at the time as we were hear for his birthday and I didn't want to make a fuss. I knew I had to force it all down me though as I remembered the £2 surcharge. It wasn't nice to eat at all. The chicken was completely disgusting it was so clearly tiny chunks of extremely cheap cuts of meat. My partner then suddenly mentioned that for a Medium dish his curry had no taste what so ever, nevermind spice, he said, it just doesn't taste of anything! I should point out that myself and my partner are not fussy eaters in the slightest, nor do we have sensitive stomachs. We've ate from buffet's in the desert in Egypt to sidewalk carts in New York and never been ill. I have never came away from a meal so disappointed. My partner finished his Medium curry (like me he also had to force it down!) and decided to go back for a Hot rated curry. He was wary, I mentioned before we don't like very spicy foods, so only put a small amount on his plate. It wasn't much of a surprise to find again there was absolutely no taste to this curry. I can't understand how on earth they managed to make such tasteless food! I sampled this hot curry and there was nothing even remotely hot or spicy about it. It just simply didn't taste of anything at all. I am honestly not exaggerating here. I was wondering if it was just us thinking this, and when a table next to us went to the buffet I wanted to see their reaction. The party of 5 all sat down with their buffet curries and there was no comments about the food at all (none of the usual oh isn't this nice etc.) they just all went silent as they ate, Being British we were probably too polite. I've never ever had to complain in a restaurant before and I was worried about the reaction of the servers to be honest, as I stated before we didn't recieve great service anyway. We paid up and left. Last night my partner (who ate more from the buffet than me!) started to complain of a funny tummy. I developed a slight one but my partner is still ill today. This has completely ruined his birthday. I'm writing this to warn others to completely avoid this restaurant at all costs! The cuts of meat are clearly very cheap and nasty. The curries managed to have NO TASTE to them at all, and the service was poor! I must say I am confused about all the positive reviews on here.
