Review only for Chow Kueh Teow aka Char Kway Teow aka Char Kuay Teow: Pros: Fish cake! standard part of dish Tasty fish cake! Service was quick and prompt; rather than courteous, more like familial straightforwardness, which I like as well They use wide flat noodles by default (non Pad Thai style) Balanced taste! Cons: Supposed to be with shrimp and squids (according to menu) but actually comes standard with shrimp and fish cakes I ordered the CKT with pork to be added, but the chef misheard perhaps and substituted the shrimp with the pork, or perhaps because the chef felt the shrimp and pork are a bad combo...either way, I didn't get a single piece of shrimp No red Chinese sausage No black/extra dark soy sauce Had to ask for pork to be added No shrimp No complementary Chinese tea Mild reaction to medium level preservative Cash only FYI: Medium-large portion size Not so wide kway teow, though double width of pad thai Chinese tea (complimentary?) served on request Fish cake is circular Rating (only for CKT): 6/10 Ambience: 5/10 Overall rating: 6/10 (because of not having shrimp in the dish)

I think the reason why this place has low ratings is because its truly an authentic no frills malaysian restaurant. Food is GREAT and CHEAP! It's no frills but service is actually okay. Better if you speak cantonese lol! Got my favorite malaysian hokkien mee. Stir fried with lard. YUMMY! Free tea the moment you sit down. Cute outdoor dining area too.

I\My family and I loves it Rice Roll with a mixtures of stuff minced fish paste into various types of vegs. like the eggplants, fresh soft tofu, bitter melon, fried tofu, fish ball, cuttlefish ball and many other ingredients. You could asked for it to be cook dry with the option of dipping it into a sweet bean paste sauce or their awesome Sambal Balacan a chilies paste of the shrimp paste made from Msia. It pretty spicy which I am now a fan of it I always like the ones that I made myself but got to salute them for being quite close to my liking as I am pretty good at cooking all type of food from Spore and Msia. Especially Curry and Sambal types and most types of Peranakan food. But watch out for the curry soup and the clear soup it contains too much MSG in which I am not a fan. You will know that its too much MSG if you find that after an hour or less of eating food that is cooked with too much MSG, it will makes you so thirsty that no amount of water could stop that side effect of thirst in your throat. I cooked all my food without the used of MSG that dreadful stuff not only does you harm as well as in area in your body that you can not see nor feel. All Asian restaurants here add MSG to their food as it saves them having to add too much of the real stuff it will cost them a more money but they will try to be as authentic as possible. I cooked my curry without coconut milk as I am not supposed to eat anything that is High in Potassium as well as saturated fats for medical reason so I cooked them without the use of it and my food tasted fabulous too.

I have been going here for many years. While the kitchen has difficulty accommodating dietary restrictions such as vegetarian alternatives, the staff make an honest effort and are successful in delivering authentic Malaysian cuisine and prompt service. Their curry is amazing.

Whenever I’m craving for Malaysian and lots of flavor, I find myself here. The restaurant isn’t fancy but the food great. The roti is doughy which is perfect to scoop up curry. The noodles and soups are packed with delicious spicy and heat. You won’t go wrong ordering the prawn mee, asam laksa, curry mee, chow kueh or seafood chow fun egg sauce.

The lunch box special here is cheap and delicious. It's also popular so there's a line for it. The serving lady is nice and reminds me of the maternal cafeteria ladies when I was in school who always took care of you. I always like getting lunches here.

Unassuming and decir could use a spruce up, but the food and service were very good. We had the soft roti, and we're told the sauce that came with that was not a spicy. It was delicious but it was still a little too spicy for our kids. The coffee spare ribs were very good but be careful because the ribs are cut up and the bones are kind of small. The house special pork cutlet was delicious as was the shrimp fried rice. We had this sizzling beef platter which came with lots of vegetables in a brown sauce and that was okay. It seems like it's an authentic restaurant in Flushing and keeps a busy pace of customers coming in and out. The prices were very reasonable. A huge plate of shrimp fried rice was only $7.50. They don't have a liquor license but allowed us to bring a bottle of wine in.

What can I say about dim sum that hasn't already been said? Every Saturday used to be family dim sum day, but as I grew older the tradition began to dwindle away. Every so often, I walk with my grandparents over to Lake Pavilion for dim sum. It's incredibly packed and loud, but the dim sum has never been disappointing. I like the variety of dim sum and the freshness of it all. If I had to rate, it would be 4.5/5 for dim sum and the deduction is due to the noise level and crowdedness. On to the dinner side: one of my favorite places for dinner is at Lake Pavilion. I used to frequent Tung Yi Fung in Flushing, but my family now prefers the closer Lake Pavilion. I love their veggies (watercress with garlic and tofu/mushroom dish), seafood selection (prawns and fish that I never know the English name to), and salmon fried rice. Oh yeah, soup is pretty hearty as well! Yum. Dinner time isn't as noisy as dim sum -- you actually hear what people are saying! I'd definitely recommend coming for dinner. The portions are decent for the price and I have found the food to be consistently delicious.
