Just had a lovely meal in here with all the family - and I can highly recommend it. Beautiful decor, lovely staff and a menu that's a little bit different. It can be quite hard to find somewhere that suits all 5 of us (age range 11 to 45). I was impressed with the menu, and everyone in our party really enjoyed their meal (even the hard-to-please-vegetarian!). Well done to everyone involved - nice to see something new and different on the high street.

The best restaurant in Fort William. Cajun chicken strips with lime mayo, and Haggis croquettes with caramelized red onions to start. Venison, mushroom and juniper berry stew, + beef and blackpudding pie for main course. Meat didn't need a knife to cut, it just melted in the mouth. Absolutely wonderful. No room for pudding We'll be back for a Xmas meal in December.

Great place to eat in Fort William, locally caught mussels were DELICIOUS! Great staff, service and atmosphere. Wish I’d have had room for dessert... but they were generous enough to give me the recipe which was very kind... I’ll post a photo once I’ve had a go at making it.

I really enjoyed my meal here! Delicious mussels in a garlic butter with skinny fries and salad. Staff were friendly and attentive and I liked the decor. The menu is really interesting, good to have something a bit different. I will be back!

If you miss your country food or home cook or just finished the long walk, running or biking. Here you are, you will find a suitable food (South American taste, european taste, Asian taste, Highland taste++) for yourself & families. Nice, simple & healthy food always Highly recommend.

Paid a short visit to Fort William today from Glasgow, as my partner and I had a few days holiday. The highlight of our visit was a beautiful lunch at The Geographer. We both opted for the two course lunch. Soup of the day for starters, followed by veggie chilli and rice for my partner, and Cajun chicken strips for myself. To say that the dishes were delicious is honestly an understatement, stunning presentation and stunning flavours that that were perfection to our tastebuds. The wonderful friendly service further enhanced our dining experience in the very comfortable, beautifully designed, and welcoming ambience of The Geographer. We will certainly be back soon on our future travels, I cant recommend this establishment highly enough. Thank you and well done.

We went for our work Christmas night out last night and had a lovely meal. Between us we had a few different choices from the menu and everyone said they it was delicious and that they would return again. Service was very good and staff friendly and helpful. Will definitely be coming back with my husband.

This is a great place. Do not let the line outside scare you as the service is fast in a non rushed pace. We did have an opportunity with our food at the table but after talking with the chef he overcorrected the situation to make us very happy. I only wish I lived closer so I would come back here more often.

We were up in Fort William for the weekend and heard great things about The Geographer from friends and bloggers online, so tried phoning ahead of time to book a table but unfortunately they are walk in only. We left it a little later on around 7:30pm but still had a slight cue outside which did pass quickly with people finishing there meals and leaving. It is such a lovely restaurant inside with a world theming, it is small & quirky but don't let this put you off. They have something for every taste and believe me it is all fantastic, served within no time at all and with some of the food being served in a basket, it really did peak on top! Staff are brilliant and really do go above and beyond to make your meal one to remember. Pricing is a little costly due to the tourist location but the quality of the food and portion size is second to none, highly recommend a visit if you're in the area!

Had the venison stew and it was one of the best I had. Very tender meat, very savory! Though the addition of the sweet potatoes throws the meal a little off but overall still nice. Also had the buttermilk strips of chicken which was okay but I would have ordered the fish/salmon. The soup was okay as well, above average but skippable if you are on a budget.

So pleased to have found this gem in Fort William. The Geographer serves elevated comfort food in a cozy, unpretentious and eclectically decorated setting. The service is impeccable and both my wife and I commented it was one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. No wonder there are lines out the door every night! A gentleman quipped to us "well worth the wait" as he left and we shivered in the queue, and he was definitely right. The food was on point and each dish impressed us more than the last. We tried the sweet potato and garlic soup du jour, mussels with garlic butter, mac and cheese, and fish and chips. For dessert we had the Banana sponge and it was delectable. We will certainly be back for another dinner this week!

The atmosphere was nice and I appreciated the decorations. The staff were friendly as well. I came here as a solo traveler and ended up grouping up with another group of two and another solo traveler (by choice) as the restaurant was closing soon and there was a long line of people waiting to get in. It was an enjoyable environment to eat and chat with new people. The calamari was good- the breading was nice and crisp and I was starving after hiking. The fries were also cooked perfectly; they were fresh and crispy. I had asked for the burger to be cooked pink, but unfortunately it came out well done and I really didn’t like it (sorry!). The staff person was quite friendly and explained to me that meat has typically been cooked well done in Scotland and it’s been a difficult mental barrier for the cooks to make it pink. I understand that, I don’t think I could ever cook chicken to ‘medium rare’- yuck! I was a bit disappointed with the burger, but I wasn’t made to pay for it, so I think that was fair. I felt bad for the waste of food, though.

What an amazing restaurant! Food and service here are both fantastic! So good that we came here two nights in a row! Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Fort William! There may be a queue if you arrive after 5pm (when they open for dinner) but the food here definitely worths the wait!

A very cosy atmosphere, the seabass was delicious. Good service, you can tell it’s very popular with people queuing outside for a table (no option to reserve), so there also feels like there’s a little pressure from staff to make up your mind and order and then leave as soon as you’re finished. Still a very nice experience. We pain 45 GBP for two main courses and two teas and left a customary 10% service charge.

The best fish and chips I have had so far 😍 We went there for lunch just in time to get seats. It got so crowded in just a few minutes! The interior is really pretty. The soup of the day was with zucchini and mustard. It was the perfect food in that cold windy weather.

Trust the reviews here!!! We ordered the fish and chips, mussels and steak, and tried their in house beer as well. The fish and chips were actually crispy to the last bite, batter so light and not too oily? Like how did they even achieve that?? Awesome awesome. Mussels were sooo fresh and the steak was cooked exactly to how my friend liked it. Best meal in general that we've had in Scotland honestly. The beer recommended was exactly as I wanted it's character to be. Honestly what a pleasant experience and end to the day. We came at 510pm on a Monday and a queue started forming by 540, highly recommend to come early so you don't have to queue! We left at 610-ish and you can such a queue forming already.
