We visited Brasteds for a special occasion with friends and the whole experience was magical. The venue is a hidden gem just outside of Norwich and the venue looked spectacular as we drew up to the restaurant. We were greeted by professional, welcoming staff and were not rushed to take our seats.
The evening started with some beautiful canopes over pre-dinner cocktails, where we were presented with both the wine list and the menu. Brasteds proprietor, Nick, who is a fantastic host, was a great help assisting us with his sommelier skills. The wine advice was perfect and the pairings provided throughout the meal were spot on and our red and white wines were extremely well priced.
We opted for a four-course dinner, which also came with a number of appetisers between courses that were unexpected and faultlessly delicious. My own meal included;
*Sautéed Norfolk Quail Breast, Chestnut Purée, Buffalo Curd, Mushroom Consommé & ‘Cheese on Toast’
*Lemon Scented Crevettes, Spiced Potato Caviar, Light Curry Velouté& Coriander Shoots.
*Acle Marshland Beef Fillet, Braised Ox Cheek Faggot, Onion Croquette & Bourguignon Sauce.
The delivery and presentation was impeccable and I simply could not fault any part of our meal. The pace of the evening was perfect, we were never rushed, nor did we feel that we had to wait between courses. The restaurant was busy with seven different parties and one of the most noticeable points of the evening being that the service was so slick, that at points during the night, I never even realise that our glasses had been refilled. It was great to see that the waiting staff were so discreet but very customer focused.
A really nice aspect to end the meal is that Brasteds have a tradition where diners can visit the after-dinner whisky & cognac shelf and choose their own bottles to be poured. The shelf is so well stocked that with great spirits, that I struggled to choose which drink to have.
I need to mention The Coffees... Served without cream should stay just as they are served. They don't need cream. It's the smoothest coffee I've ever tasted.
Nick works alongside his restaurant staff and is the most customer focused of restauranteurs. He made a point of speaking with every table during the evening and was the last person to thank us for dining at Brasteds when we departed.
The whole experience at Brasteds was stunning and I cannot recommend the restaurant enough. You really must experience it for yourselves! Thank you to all of the staff, front and back of house.......you are superb!!
We visited last night and had a lovely evening. The food was very good and the staff very friendly and attentive. Would recommend and if we are back in the area we would return.
Our favourite place for special occasions. Excellent service, amazing food and flavours. This restaurant ticks all the boxes and some. Every table full and rightly so.
If you’ve not been before, book and go, you won’t be disappointed!
We booked for a special occasion lunch having been meaning to visit the restaurant for some time. We were certainly not disappointed. Everything from the greeting on arrival to the time we left was 1st class including the venue itself, the staff, the choice of drinks and the excellent food.
We had booked a table for four to include on vegetarian and one person not eating carbs (me). A specially presented menu was given to me with carbohydrates
mostly eliminated. Impressed. Given that my experience was not necessarily the chefs vision, all of my food was very tasty and the venison was cooked beautifully. My fellow diners all enjoyed their selections. Drinks menu was wide ranging and my partner was a particular fan of the Royales. Service was attentive and not rushed. Very nice setting which was surprisingly closer to Norwich than we thought! We shall return
4 of us fined here - 2 of us visiting Norwich. First time and will certainly return. The level of service and food was fabulous and surroundings classy. It’s not your every week restaurant but certainly a great place for a special evening out. Vegetarian and vegan choices were well thought out as well
Brasted’s is my favourite place to eat in Norfolk and when we had the opportunity to have our wedding in their beautiful barn, I knew that we would be looked after and our guests would have an amazing time.
We had previously been to a friends wedding at Brasted’s, and it was one we fondly remembered for the food, location and overall enjoyment of the whole day. When we decided to get married August 2019, we were lucky that Brasted’s was available to host our reception.
Nick, Lisa and the whole team are a fantastic unit who worked so hard to make sure our day was perfect. Right from the first meeting we were made to feel at ease and as if nothing was too much trouble for them.
We selected our food options and invited our parents to a taster experience. Even the most hard to please father in law loved the food! In the run up to the wedding, I could ask endless questions and someone was always free to help me. The room was set up exactly how I had envisioned and on the day, everything went perfectly.
No glass was left unfilled, no guest went hungry.
I have genuinely had so many compliments about our day from it being the best wedding they’ve been to, to never being so drunk before a wedding breakfast! They even catered for my friends with specific dietary requests with no issues.
We stayed the night in the Lodge which was immaculate and beautiful, and in the morning treated to a wonderful full english.
Brasted’s is my favourite restaurant in Norfolk. It’s not just the food that has won my heart, but the hospitality that has outshone anywhere else I have been.
My husband and I look forward to many happy anniversary dinners at Brasted’s in the years to come.
Very professional set up , you are welcomed on arrival, where you can see the menu (the piano was playing) whilst we waited for our friends, we then had our chosen food , everything Beas perfect, the staff were very friendly, we will definitely be going again soon
I recommend Benedicts to anyone, Love the place, Excellent food, enjoyed it all keep it up Benedicts
Adored the new menu at Brasteds. Autumn inspired themes of game and rich, delicious sauces (though they called them something fancier!) as well as plenty of options for non-game lovers. It was hard to decide what to chose.
Both the attention to detail and the service set this place apart. We had a wonderful family celebration, made even more special by fireworks and a profiteroles tower for the birthday girl. I need to return soon, there are so many other dishes I need to try!
Saturday night dinner and all was excellent, as always. We love this place - great food, wine, ambience and service. Full restaurant with great vibe and speedy delivery of all courses.
Ignore all negative reviews and go enjoy the place.
I had a wonderful meal at Brasteds for my 40th. The front of house were outstanding and the fillet steak we had was amongst the best I have ever tasted. Some of my guests loved their discussions with the waitress about the wine selection and we found them attentive through the whole evening. We loved the relaxed atmosphere. My friends have asked when we're going back so we'll be paying a return visit soon. Also loved having a pianist playing throughout the evening.
Just another fabulous experience for dinner. We were treated so well and really taken care of. We sat early as my nephew was dining with us, and got to see all the other happy customers arriving. The fact that 2 of our party couldn’t make it at short notice didn’t fluster the staff at all. Ashley and his team always pull it out of the bag with special touches and attention to detail.
The food was second to none. So delicious and the salmon tartar amuse bouche was out of this world! Favourite dishes included the calves liver and the gorgeous beef, cooked to perfection and rich and succulent.
We return again and again because of the amazing service and quality food we get every time!
I was taken here last week, as part of my 50th birthday celebrations. The staff were so attentive, happy and friendly. The restaurant itself was small, about 12 tables altogether. Nice and intimate with a lovely ambience. Also a live pianist added to the wonderful atmosphere.
The food was impeccably presented, tasted amazing, so full of flavours. A seven course meal, each dish more delicious than the last. The type of meal, where every mouthful needs to be savoured. The staff brought out a stack of profiteroles with a sparkler attached as a surprise for my father, who was celebrating his 75th birthday. He was amazed and very touched. We all dressed up for the occasion and were treated like royalty. Could not have asked for a better meal in such beautiful surroundings. Big congratulations to the hardworking staff and very talented chefs. No wonder this has 2 Michelin stars.
Visited Brasted's for the third time for my wife's birthday.
Yet again the service was impeccable, the food and wine were delicious and locally sourced which is great.
It was also nice to have Carrie playing the piano throughout the evening.
I couldn't recommend Nick and his team and Brasted's any more.
First time and we will be going again. All food fantastic and not a bad thing to say about service or food.
Not cheap but fantastic value. Feels opulent but not at all stuffy. Friendly and efficient great choice for a special night out.
