This place is a hidden gem! Lovely place to spend an afternoon. Delicious food and beautiful views. Highly recommend the Jack Daniels coated chicken sandwiches and the cherry bakewell scones. My little girl, loved the new black forest milkshake.
What a lovely place. We chanced upon this during one of our drives into the country and were so pleased. The place was lovely, nestled on the side of the canal with plenty of outdoor seating and a play area for children. The food menu wasn't huge but what was on it was great. Homemade cakes and desserts, yummy, homemade soups wow, baskets of handmade chips with sandwiches, fresh scones - cheese, raspberry or sultana, lovely, and a wide range of teas and coffee.
The staff were pleasant and we were so pleased we stopped.
Thank you Hettys.
Beautiful location, lovely setting and a stunning building. The cakes, coffees and service are also second to none! I would recommend this place to anyone - a true hidden gem in Staffordshire.
Fantastic coffee shop in beautiful surroundings. Been today with a friend and sat for hours chatting and devouring the tea and cake! Lovely friendly staff too and even got chatting to 2 regular customers! Definitely recommend and I will most definitely return again soon!
Wow!!!.... what a fabulous little place we found!!
Yes it was very busy,
Yes they'd ran out of a couple of things( it was late lunchtime when we arrived),
Yes we had to wait a few minutes to order, but that's because of its popularity.
We had lovely sandwiches and gorgeous freshly made cakes and scones, the staff were efficient and very friendly,
Would definitely recommend!!
We are already planning our next outing there... very soon!!!!!
Hettys is a great discovery. A lovely little tea shop with excellent cake an very friendly staff, set in a great location for a walk up the canal or off on one of the routed paths! Ideal to burn a few calories before one off Hettys wonderful homemade scones!!
This place is a little piece of heaven in this hectic world. So peaceful, lovely setting, beautiful food , good service. Worth a visit again and again .
Been here a few times .. breakfast is lovely with all fresh produce..
Cakes to die for again all very fresh and today i rang ahead for my sandwich order and it was just as good as a take a way as dining in.. great place .. love it...
Our fourth visit and still really happy with the food and service. A lovely place to walk followed by a really nice cake/cob/meal - what's not to like!
Getting to be a bit of a habit!
Couldn’t fault Hetty’s tea rooms. Great food, lovely friendly staff and all in blissful surroundings. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you.
First time visiting on Father’s Day with young family. Very busy at the time but couldn’t have felt more welcomed by the staff. Amazing food in beautiful surroundings. 5*
yes lovely place food great real good day recommend it to anyone xxxx
A really nice, quiet little canalside tea shop. We sat out the back on the canal, plenty of outdoor seating at the front too. Big car park, which is also used by walkers so if it looks really busy, there’s probably still space for you. Toilets (public) are in a separate building across the road. Food was great and drink were too. Service was friendly and average prices.
Lovely staff & food, but a little to pricey for certain foods. But understandable as it gets overly busy at peak times. The area is peaceful despite the amount of people, lots to explore.
If you order anything.. please try the Oat milk Latte... It's delicious.
Creamy but leaves a clean fresh feeling with each sip :)
What a great place first time here food was really good went for lunch party of 7 had a small room to our self which was good can sit in or outside was a bit busy had to wait for our meal sign of a good place will be back for definitely
Really lovely atmosphere!! Lovely food and the staff were lovely and attentive! we had the pre booked afternoon tea for my bridal party and would definitely book again!!
The room was decorated so lovely and in the privacy of our own space by being upstairs! Thank you so much for everything!!
Visited here the other week for afternoon tea, and I can honestly say it is the best one. I've had fabulous food, fantastic attentive staff, and a lovely atmosphere beautifully decorated on the Alice in wonderland theme and lovely area it's situated at only downside is its a bit off the beaten track but we found it, one of our party couldn't attend so they made up a lovely tray of the food like we had for them would highly recommend to all.
We had a lovely visit today.
Unfortunately, there were no seats downstairs and my grandad struggles to walk upstairs and has dementia, but the lady that served us (I didn’t get her name) was so helpful and offered to help him upstairs, I told her that we’d be ok, and instead she carried the tray up for us, and took the time to lead us upstairs (as you have to go back outside)
She couldn’t do enough for us.
The food was lovely and the service was incredible.
I’d like to say a huge thank you to this lady, she’s a credit to your team.
A great little pit-stop for the local Froghall Wharf Walk routes. Charming, inside and out, with a good selection of savoury and sweet fayre; however, £3 for a can of Diet Coke … 😳
That said, the food is tasty and the portions are generous.
Free Parking is an added benefit!
Will definitely be going again.
Lovely tea shop excellent breakfast, cream teas & meals. Easy parking covered areas & outside dog friendly (would be even better if they allowed well behaved dogs inside). Great shaded canal walks from cafe, lots of wildlife & unspoilt. Could be a lovely easy walk from Kingsley & Froghall Railway Station, Churnet Valley Railway
Wonderful breakfast today at Hettys Tea Shop, location was nice we sat outside by the canal as dogs are not allowed inside.
I had oatcakes which were amazing. Just was a shame that outside they serve your food in bags not plates.
Lots of free parking and your can combined a visit to Hettys with a walk along the canal.
Would have scored it a 5 but none of the staff knew how to smile and having food in paper bags and trays wasn’t great.
Would come again for the location and great food.
This is a lovely little tea shop, but the service is woeful! Not from the girls, they're lovely, but the set up. Each person is doing individual orders, then making drinks etc which makes for such a long queue. Wouldn't it be more beneficial to have one person making all the drinks and one doing cakes etc to keep the queue short, there are plenty of staff to do this I noticed? Maybe I'll return on a less busy day
