What a lovely pub. We stopped off, while traveling, for something to eat. The staff were friendly and polite. They told us they were busy and food might take a little longer to come out, but it wasn't very long at all. The menu had a good range of food and not too expensive. The food was lovely, I had the steak and ale pie with chips. The pie was lovely, plenty of taste and the meat was tender. The chips were perfect, crunchy on the outside but light and fluffy inside. My family enjoyed their meals as well and we all had the right amount of food. If The Bell was local to me then I would be going there for food regularly!

Great welcome and delicious carvery. Very short wait despite being busy. Very friendly staff.

THE BEST NUT ROAST EVER! We have been vegetarian for over 7 years and this is the best carvery and nut roast we have had. Great cauliflower cheese too. The roast potatoes will not disappoint, flavourful and crispy. A lovely setting with a pleasant beer garden and dog friendly too.

It was a family lunch for my husbands birthday. It was lovely . Great atmosphere beautiful food and they even bought some ice cream with a candle in it. Highly recommended. Will be back soon. Thank you for making his day special.

The Bell is a country pub on the outskirts of Warminster north of it in a village called Standerwick. It is a quaint country pub just off the A36. Plenty of parking was available in a well lit car park.
The pub recently has undergone new management. Entering the pub, you cannot hear any of the noise outside and we was greeted promptly by the host. A nice warm atmosphere inside was waiting. We were shown to the table and provided menus accordingly. The host also let us know what the special dish of the day was and items that were not available before ordering. The pub was clean and tidy throughout and had a modern look to it. The pub has a carvery deck on Sundays and offers a main menu the rest of the week.
All the food we had today was excellent quality. They were well presented on the plates and there was a good portion size for the price paid. I feel that the desserts are overpriced and the waffle and pie were a little soggy and stodgy at times. It had the appearance and temperature that they had been microwaved through so was piping hot when we had received it. I loved the use of the star plate for the cherry bakewell pudding. The steak was cooked rare to perfection. The chicken schnitzel was lightly battered and rich in flavour. The mushroom linguini also had plenty of mushrooms and wholesomeness to it.
In terms of service, staff were very attentive but did forget to bring my guests drink when we had ordered it 15 minutes prior so we had to remind the team to get their order. The team were all friendly in their manner however.
The toilets for the females were refurbished and modern on one end but out of order at the bar end. The male toilets were dated and not that well lit given there is no lighting where the urinals were. The window was open here so it was very cold.
Overall I would give it a 8/10 and would visit and consider recommending this pub given the minor issues we came across today. Overal it was good value for money.

Just had my favourite meal here and not for the first time. Their curry dish is excellent, its beautifully presented and you feel awful destroying a work of art. However it's delious.

Was passing through when we noticed The Bell with a carvery. So went in with no booking they were fully booked but said we could have the carvery in the beer garden. Nothing was to much trouble and the food is excellent. Apart from collecting our carvery we had table service even in the garden.
It is a shame we are not local or we would use them again.
I would recommend them 100%

Great local country pub, with home-cooked food. Staff are very friendly and food was lovely. So glad I stumbled onto this place when staying close-by for a holiday.

Lovely pub, friendly and helpful staff, with a good selection of food choices. They have a seperate vegetarian menu (just ask for this) which has a few options that can be adapted to a vegan diet. The waffle dessert was so good! The pub is also dog friendly which is a bonus for those with four legged friends. We look forward to returning.

A ray of sunlight on a rainy day off the A36 on the way to Warminster. Sunday lunch at short notice, with 2 small dogs the staff bent over backwards to help. It was carvery day and self service on the veg. I ended up with a very large plate of good quality food, a pudding and a drink all for £20. The atmosphere was good and I was greeted by the most amazing smile I've seen for a long time. Only small niggle, but if you're tucked around the corner and it's busy, you may have to chase to pay your bill!

Excellent food and service . The restaurant was too hot though due to the hot Day and the carvery made it uncomfortable . Keep up the good work

Really lovely meal out as part of our holiday. My partner and I enjoyed the food here, especially their lovely desserts! Lots of choices of drinks too. Lots of outside and inside seating although it seemed very quiet when we ate on a weekday evening. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend.

Stopped at The Bell for a bite of lunch. Tasty Greek style salad and delicious beef lasagne. Staff could not have been more helpful and the huge beer garden was perfect for the dog. Will definitely go again.

As always great, friendly staff. Always happy to help. Went for a 40th Birthday meal and although there was a large group of us we didn't have to wait long. Self serve on potatoes and veg was great as you could have as much as you liked. And the puddings... would definitely recommend the malteaser sundae or the choc fudge cake. Great sized puddings too. Overall a fantastic place to visit. Would recommend every time. Been here a few occasions now and no complaints on and of our visits. Well done everyone who works there

We went for Sunday lunch today to celebrate family birthdays. The meals were superb and the staff were amazing , especially with Mum who is in a wheelchair. Cannot thank them enough for making our visit a memorable one.

Pretty disappointed with today...not with the food, that as usual was very good, and the waiting staff were also as lovely as usual...however, firstly I booked a table for 12.30 only to find out that it had been booked in for 12.00 not 12.30 so that isn't particularly efficient. Secondly, we were finishing off our drinks and chatting after finishing our food...family lunch for my sister's birthday...and the lady with long blonde hair wearing a cream dress came and plonked our bill on the table (this hadn't been requested) saying that we needed to pay and go as the table had been booked for someone else after us! We were not happy...especially as there were a lot of empty tables. This lady is so rude and her attitude stinks. I have eaten here several times and every time she is really bloody rude and snotty.... I think she needs her P45 as she is really not doing your pub any favours. I will think twice about eating there again....

Sunday Bar team refused to top up my pint to the top. £5.30 is highest price in the area- so I expect it to be full. Think they need some extra training as lager glasses are a legal measure to the brim only. What I received was an 18 year old arguing with me that £5.30 is an average price for a pint in the Frome area and they left it 10mm lower than the brim! Weekday team is much more accommodating. No problem with the weekday team.

This little gem is a beautiful place and the food is amazing and so fresh and tasty , visit here on our way home from Salisbury to Wales and would 100% travel to eat here
Claire Hardaker
After a long drive in horrendous weather, we just wanted somewhere warm and welcoming for something comforting to eat before we carried on home. This was perfect, a warm welcome, lovely staff, food served swiftly, it was very tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Don Carter
Without doubt the place could do with a spruce up.
But in terms of value for money you could not do better. Food is exceptionally good value but also good quality.
Acid test as always would we go back, oh yes please
Hazel Franklin
Excellent Sunday carvery. Attended a 40th Birthday lunch yesterday and although part of a very large party didn't have to wait too long. Would definitely recommend
Rosie Sutton
Waiting staff were slow and inexperienced Waited 45 minutes for our meals.
Everything tasted of dirty / used / old oil.
When paying for our meals which we had ordered from the 'specials' board we were charged full price because it was Bank Holiday! At no point were we told this would be the case and nothing advertised that fact.
Very disappointed, had been there previously and it was lovely .
Patty Jones
A lovely meal the pie was delicious and staff very friendly and attentive

Fabulous hospitality. We took a chance to drive around the country on Christmas Day. Over on a visit from Auckland, New Zealand. Hadn't booked anyway for a Christmas dinner. Popped in by chance and we were accommodated for dinner. Lovely people.

So disappointed, went for lunch last Sunday. Have been many times before. However seems standards have dropped. Frozen roast potatoes. Yuk. Over cooked meat as well. Won't be going again.
