I've eaten here twice now, The staff are excellent, The manager is a nice man who can be abrupt at times. Food is of a high quality and generally cooked well, duck comfy with dauphinoise and greens are very good and so is the steak but the triple cooked chips are not so good and I love peppercorn sauce but it was the same as everywhere does that I don't like, probably just me but 1 in 20 of them are amazing not this one. would recommend.

Our first visit, staying local for Revival. Pub was very accommodating when we changed our booking time at short notice when they were very busy. Food was delicious, we did wait a little time to order our dessert (we had to ask) but they were rushed off their feet. Would definitely recommend.

We decided to have lunch out on a Friday and chose the Fox and Hounds in Funtington. We have been before so knew what to expect. We often use the garden but it was too chilly and windy. The menu is varied and the prices reasonable for a pub / restaurant. Service was slower than usual, but we went in any hurry. I chose the pie of the day which was beef and Stilton, with mash and a hot slaw. My wife had the smoked haddock. Her dish looked more appetising. I was a bit disappointed by the pie, in that it was quite a small serving overall, with a sparse filling. More gravy than meat. For dessert, I had the 'special fruit and nut bread and butter pudding. I expected a rich, smooth pudding, it was really quite firm. It's more like a bread pudding. I like a lot of custard with my dessert so asked. When the bill came, I was a little shocked to see I had been charged £1.50 for a large thimble-full of custard. We will return, but we will be a bit more circumspect over our choices.

Really lovely country pub that I always seem to be revisiting as the food and service are great. Nice traditional food always served well, they also have a good selection of beers. Over lockdown they were able to redo the garden out the back which is really nice, they also have seating out the front. Parking is available just outside the front aswell as just over the road they have a larger car park. They also organise various pub quiz nights with meal deals. Definitely recommend this pub to anyone passing.

Popped in here for an early dinner on Easter Friday. Food was excellent, both main and dessert. Staff were friendly and helpful. Was very quiet but it was early (6pm). Suspect booking probably essential most weekends. There are a few parking spaces opposite the pub. And about 8 tables in the garden at the rear (plus a few at the front). Would highly recommend if in the area.

A grand, dog-friendly, place to stop for Sunday lunch before walking at nearby Kingley Vale. Lovely food at a reasonable price. One star knocked off because they had no record of my telephone booking a few days previously. Fortunately they were able to accommodate us!

I cannot thank Marco and his team enough for making myself and my mother welcome on Sunday. Marco made such a huge difference to our visit. Being veggie means I usually have limited options as not many places cater for this or if they do it’s usually the standard “cheese and onion” in some shape or form; especially on Sundays options are even more limited. BUT the Fox and Hounds came to the rescue and offered an veggie option for their carvery, which is so refreshing. Unfortunately the nut roast had almonds in it which meant I couldn’t have it. But, Marco asked us to hang on and disappears into the kitchen and comes back a few moments later after discussing options with the chef and offers me veggie sausages (he also checked the ingredients for nuts) instead of the nut roast. I can not begin to tell you how happy I was and so I went for the veggie sausages - not only that but they also prepare you your very own veggie friendly roast potatoes and gravy. My mother had the standard carvery and loved it too. The meal was FANTASTIC and the guest ale was delicious; even tho I made it into a shandy - the only downside. No room for desert for me but just means we need to return and we can’t wait. BIGGEST thanks to Marco, Chef and All at The Fox and Hounds, Funtington. THANK YOU

We thought you might like to know that The Fox and Hounds was awarded 5 stars on gastrohub. Here is our review from the site. Another day, another new pub, at least for me, Dad has been here before at some point in the past. This beautiful pub in the small village of Funtington, just wants you to come inside. Especially on a dreary Winter's day, when the drizzle is falling on you from a grey and solemn sky, it beckons you through its doors, in to the warmth, where you can forget about the grip of Winter and enjoy a few drinks and some hot food. The pub is much larger than it first appears, with an additional restaurant area behind the bar. Despite its size, the pub was warm, a fundamental area in pub hospitality. We examined the menu, including the specials board, and were mightily impressed. This was certainly one of the better menu's we have come across, showing a distinct flare and imagination. I had half expected the prices to reflect the ingredients and dishes on offer, perhaps rocketing in to the unacceptable bracket, but we were pleasantly surprised. Main meals averaged at £12 - £14, what we would consider about right for a good pub serving high quality food. I chose piri piri chicken with spiced sweet potato and spinach, Dad picked from the specials board, putting his faith in the pulled steak inside a bubble and squeak cake. We soaked up the warm and friendly atmosphere as we waited for the food, noting the Goldilocks levels of both temperature and appropriate music. Before long our meals arrived, and it was immediately obvious that the chef has a wonderful eye for presentation. Both our plates looked stunning, so we quickly tucked in to see if it tasted as good as it looked. It did. The chicken was juicy, the sweet potato lightly spiced and tasty, and the spinach was buttery and luxuriant. Dad's bubble and squeak cake was equally perfect, leaving him unable to make any criticism. If we were to find a single fault, and I realise this is objective, we did find the portions a little small. Being the pub geeks that we are, we discussed this at some length. We decided that as a publican, there is a fine line between leaving your customers feeling short changed, and leaving them with room for a desert, thus collecting a few more penny's. We decided that they fell down just on the right side of that line, and to prove our point, we then ordered a desert. I had white chocolate and orange bread and butter pudding, Dad had an individual lemon meringue pie with blueberry compote. These were both also delicious. This is without doubt a very fine pub indeed. They have well and truly ticked all the basic boxes. The staff are efficient and friendly, and they haven't succumb to the overpricing policy which is so prevalent in many gastro pubs. There's a fine chef in the kitchen, and most importantly of all, the food is excellent. We always ask ourselves after each pub visit if we would return with friends and family. The answer in this case is a resounding yes.

Personally we were disappointed today. It’s my wife’s favourite pub and she’ll use any excuse to get there. We were squeezed in on a table in the bar, as it was so busy. Not a problem she loves the place. But staff were, unusually I must add, unhelpful, inattentive and too busy chatting to each other to be bothered about our needs as customers. Food was good, not the usual great, but service was lousy. Hope the next visit is a better one.

Amazing food amazing staff thoroughly recommend. My family have used the upstairs room for the last 3 years and wouldn’t go anywhere else :)
