Me and my good friend visited here one night. I and my friend had the Katsu curry with extra rice which was delicious. He had the extraordinary tea as well! This is well worth the visit!
It was a really cold day and I decided to eat something warm. I found this place after did some research on the internet.
This restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of the building, with a small entrance.
I ordered a bowl of pork katsu ramen, and I would say that the katsu and the soup itself taste perfect!
Probably the best ramen place in Glasgow. Hearty serving of could-be-hotter broth with proper noodle options. Definitely coming back to try other dishes.
Ambiance and service are good and maybe leaning towards forgetful. If this were in a rotting place with rude (they were not at all) service, I will still dine just for the ramen.
Noodle Nirvana. Not easy to find. This highly regarded noodle bar is on the first floor. It's a spacious brightly lit room with rows of benches. I had the chilli chicken ramen and it was delightful. Piping hot and beautifully presented with lovely strips of char grilled chicken, it really ticked all the boxes. The service was quick and friendly and I'm looking forward to returning soon.
Udon. Now that I'm out of Aberdeen it's no longer a problem, but I used to find myself craving a decent bowl of udon. And anyone flying Ryanair is likely to find themselves in Glasgow- time to visit Ichiban! Just go and try it- there's no good reason not to do so.
I've not been to town in years, but I still dream about this place.
Slainte mhath!
Curry & tempura. The food in here is fab, the service is great. If you want tasty fast food, this is the place for you. It is always the same, so you know what you are getting - fab!
Just go, you won't regret it. Love it... I feel only those words are necessary, Ichiban is a truly magnificent place for those who wish to be a little more adventurous with their dinner. My self and two friends have visited Ichiban on several occasions, and every time we go back the first words out of our mouths are "wow, that's amazing" (we order the same thing EVERY time).
It's a little disconcerting at first when you walk in and realize there are only three big tables in the restaurant which everyone sits at. However when you get past that initial shock it's a fantastic place. I would also highly recommend the floral tea's as an after dinner drink; not to drink just to watch (they are unbelievable, witchcraft is the only way to explain it).
The staff are really nice (They can be difficult to get the attention of) and very talkative.
Overall it's well worth a visit and i would defy anyone to dislike the place.
Good food at a reasonable price. Sushi platter seems a little on the expensive side (10 pieces for £12.50).
Love it , love it. I have been a customer for about 5 years, i have always brought people to ichiban as my favorite pleace to eat, The food is always amazing. I have been to every other japaneese place in the city and they havent came close,
I am pleased to say that they are the only noodle cafe that is just like the ones in Tokyo, Kyoto,
The staff are fantatsic, always friendly, always quick, the price is great,
Really you guys rock!
Damn-tasty. Someone said "lack of competition"? No, Glasgow has many Japanese restaurants/cafés, one is even just a few doors away from Ichiban Queen St.
I have been countless times, brought friends who want to try Japanese for the first time, brought my Mum and Dad, went for lunch with college friends, etc.
I can honestly say, I've never been dissapointed. Ichiban holds up well to competition believe me, I've been to most of the other Japanese restaurants in this city!
Wagamama's unfriendly staff and undercooked chicken gyoza put me off, I've never been since. Oko Express is good, but the 'express' part isn't so accurate! Nanakusa, Sapporo and OkSushi are a great experience, but are too expensive to make a regular occurance on my budget, so Ichiban really is number one. Friendly staff, relaxed dining area, it's a great a wee treat.
It's easy to walk past this fantastic restaurant because although the entrance is on ground level, it is not immediately obvious - the service is upstairs, with some diners looking down at passers by on the busy street as they eat their delicious sushi. Ive been here a few times recently and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys good Japanese food. Only a few minutes walk from Queen Street train station. My favourite is the Bento box as it offers a nice array of food types all in the one meal.
It’s a very nice place, the food is great, service is kind and good price/quality! I tried the kind prawn Yakisoba noodles and loved it! Totally recommend it! Quickly served and delicious! Will try again for sure
We popped in on a Sunday just out of curiosity and got some lunch. With both loved the soup noodle bowls, very tasty and comforting. The side order of Gyozas were a good idea too! The staff are nice and the place was very cosy and comfortable :)
Excellent food and delivered incredibly fast, while also not feeling like you are being rushed.
The atmosphere is relaxed and the perfect volume, the seating felt comfortable and something that works great as couples or groups.
The staff were fantastic and always on hand, as well as being very knowledgeable about the menu.
Thank you.
It is good food. Good ambiance. Very nice overall place. Price is perfect!
Easy to book for lunch
Sadly no disabled access that I could see; and the restaurant is on the first floor.
The food is ££ in price range but the food is expertly delicious and filling,
Service is lovely and the servers greeted and checked on us and were very pleasant.
Easy to find on Google maps.
Pleasant atmosphere with music.
The food was swift to be delivered also.
Delicious food and friendly servers made for a wonderful experience. I'd definitely recommend it.
Simple but very tasty food. Katsu was a cutlet over rice with sauce, felt like it could have used some veggies in with. Delicious, but was expecting a little more.
Excellent service though.
Visited last June based on reviews and we were very happy with our food and service! No wait which was great.
First time eating here and it was a wonderful experience. Staff are very welcoming and friendly, portions are generous and the food arrives very promptly. Had a great atmosphere too.
I would say, if you're looking for a restaurant to sit and relax in a comfy seat, the dining experience here is benches at long tables. Just something to keep in mind if you need a backed chair for comfort.
