Have been to this restaurant many times food is always good quality at reasonable prices, always willing to change menu to suit your needs,I've never had a bad meal from this place and would thoroughly recommend it
4th time we've visited The Barge, gorgeous food (both for meat eaters and vegetarians), always a lovely welcome and love how small it is, can't wait to go back
Excellent breakfast plus coffee very reasonable with a good selection on the plate. Lovely & friendly very clean.
Amazing food, menu, venue and exceptional service with a smile... highly recommended. We will definitely be back.
Awesome food and great service, Tina was efficient and informative and made our visit worthwhile
First visit to this restaurant but I would return. Bright and cheerful decor and friendly staff. Food was lovely.
Lovely restaurant. Great location. The welcome was warm and the food magnificent. We were down from Nottinghamshire for the day and next time we're in Gloucester we will return to The Barge.
Wanted to try the Barge restaurant for quite a while, it's got great reviews and it offers homemade desserts etc, got the chance today, Me and the bread knife had stake with vegetables, then I had Homemade Rubarb crumble with custard, wife had vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, overal it's just great wholesome food, nice cosy atmosphere, service was good, will definitely go again when I get the chance.
What a pleasure to find The Barge in Gloucester which is head and shoulders above the expensive and dull mass catering of most outlets in the docs. A freshly prepared chicken and mushroom dish served with fuelling followed by wine poached pear and ice cream plus a large diet coke all for under 20 pounds. Lovely setting and perfect service. So very good.
... really don't want to review as don't want everyone to know about this hidden gem !!!
Found by just wandering around the quay side , small restaurant offering fantastic home made tasting food at very fair prices!!
We had a Sunday roast which was lovely!! One of best I've had for a while .. they do a 1 , 2 or 3 course deal . No alcohol but bring your own is no problem. Soft drinks fairly priced.. so I've left the best bit to last.. !!!@@@
The crumble !!! Choice of rhubarb or apple . I had the rhubarb with icecream..
Seriously best I've had since me nan made when I was a kid !!! I would go back just for that .
Girlfriend had the Eton mess which looked great and she told me tasted amazing and home made ..
I will give this place a 12 out of 10 !!!
And not forgetting front of house A1 ..
Food really well presented and tasty, everywhere very clean and comfortable, toilet immaculate, will recommend to all my friends
Fabulous Sunday lunch and service my husband has certain food allergies and the owners made absolutely sure that there was nothing in his meal that he would react to. Very pleasant people good varied menu excellent prices. Definately will be back.
A fantastic place for a meal. A hidden gem as they say. Went in one morning for the full English Breakfast. It was so good. Even came with toast.
First off this is not some fancy place. But what it offers is very good food and friendly service.
No alcohol license but no problems as they are then happy to provide glassware so you can bring your own.
In closing I would recommend.
I booked well in advance a meal for 12.30 on the day I would be visiting places in Gloucester. Having spent as much time as I could at my first place of interest, I checked on-line for The Barge Restaurant and found that they were open. I got there at around 11.00 and was told that lunch might be prepared as early as 11.45 or even 11.30.
I settled into a soft drink 🍸 and was served my prawn cocktail 🍸 around 11.15. My main course was presented 🎁 just after 11.30. I knew immediately that it would keep me going well through the day.... and it did. It was no surprise that I needed a second pint of that soft drink to was the food down.
The early meal allowed me ample time to get to the bus station (Gloucester Transport Hub) at my leisure having taken in another local attraction on the way.
This all meant that I was in a good frame of mind for when I reached Kingsholm Stadium 🏟 for two matches. It was a shame that Cardiff lost the latter game but I could throw the earlier result back at Gloucester fans who engaged in friendly banter. That result was Gloucester 7 - 44 Hartpury.
Besides the food at The Barge, I also liked the old-time music that they played.
Very solid vegetarian food. I look forwards to coming again.
If you're planning on trying this place, *make sure you check the opening hours*, as they're not always open in the evening. Also, given the small size of the place, it would be good idea to book ahead.
