We ordered the lamb naga, tarka dhal, paneer karahi and a roti. Absolutely fantastic food and flavours. The lamb was really good, not chewy or fatty and spicy but flavourful. The paneer was a highlight with big chunks and not just an afterthought. Service was great and friendly with a smile. Well wo
Very close to the city center and very kind staff! I've tried the lamb balti which was absolutely stunning! It was really spicy as it should be and the noon bread was amazing. The pilav rice would be better but it was fine. Reasonable prices for fair service.
What a lovely place to eat. Was recommended by a local who had eaten here in the 60s when it was first opened. Food was fantastic. The service was second to none. The place was very clean. Will definitely be back.
Fantastic food and service! Staff are quick and attentive and are always friendly and welcoming Huge choice of dishes, lovely indoor atmosphere, the toilets are also very nice My family come here every now and again and it’s our favourite!
Ordered a take away for collection, it was ready bang on time, the food was excellent, really enjoyed the chicken tikka Vinderloo, and the wife loved the chilli garlic balti chicken, both were very tasty. Very reasonable prices for great food highly recommended.
Fantastic Indian restaurant. The portions were generous and the quality was good, the decor and the atmosphere of the place were also nice. The thing I liked the most, however, was the service and the kindness of the waiters. I would go there again 😊
Easy online booking, recommended as it is popular. Excellent service and the best curry I've had in a long while: the bhuna had plenty of meat in tasty thick sauce. Also recommend the sag paneer. Close to centre. Go and enjoy!
Some of the best Indian food I've had across America and England, and I eat a lot of Indian food. Such a huge variety of curries, and they really do taste different. Each one is super flavorful, and I love their ability to make it as mild or spicy as you want. I really think you can't go wrong just
Great food, beautifully spiced and seasoned. Pleasant staff and only to pleased to explain dishes and recommend accompaniments. Best to book ahead.
I was on Rick Steves' Europe tour. Indian food was on our itinerary so we didn't get to choose. Everything was pre ordered. Having said that, the dishes ordered were absolutely delicious and mostly vegan, which I appreciated.
Being 60 of Asian descent, to say I had the best curry ever is quite a claim- but true! Asked for home style (desi) lamb curry madras hot and it really delivered. This restaurant is a little on the edge of town, but really worth the small extra effort. Add the Black Horse pub on the other side of th
This place is more than a curry house. My all time favourite Indian restaurant in York. Service is always impeccable.
Excellent spicy Indian food, don't walk past (like we have done for years)!
Fantastic tasting food, with many unusual dishes, ones that aren't commonly on curry house menus. It's a little more expensive than other curry house, but well worth the extra. So good, we went back the following night.
There are about 4 or 5 Indians in York which are top drawer in my opinion. This is in the top 2. Can't credit it enough.
Fabulously friendly, welcoming people. And the food is always top quality with excellent flavours.
First impressions: a little outdated. However this is a small price to pay for the amazing food. The service/all staff are brilliant and friendly. 4 stars only based on decor. It makes you feel like you’ve just walked into the 70s
Outstanding! The staff curry, lamb cooked slowly on the bone, is just incredible. Everything tasted fresh, service was great, and very good value too. Highly recommended.
