Review Grasmere Tea Gardens - Grasmere

Michael KC Chan
A tea garden located in one of the busiest parts of the village with an outside terrace by the river overlooking the Oswald Church. That's why they seemed to always be very busy and full. It would be a perfect place to take a break or quick bite to eat if they could improve their food. The sandwiches and drinks we had here, imho, were at best of supermarket quality though the service was very quick. Our drinks arrived while I was still at the counter settling the bill. All in all, a four star rating because of the environment. Don't expect too much for the food.

One of the best spot to enjoy your coffee and a sandwich. They have a really cute outdoor space right on the river with a view of the church and a bridge. Food was average, however staff is really helpful and service is quick.

Lovely place at a great spot in grasmere to have drink. I really enjoyed the banana milkshake and apple pie.

Nice little cafe with a great riverside terrace. We opted to sit inside the spacious and airy dining area to stay warm but the terrace was still busy and I can imagine is an amazing place to stop for lunch in the nice weather. We were greeted quickly at the door and chose our table. After ordering at the counter the drinks were with us in a matter on minutes. The food followed shortly afterwards. The panini and sandwich were great and the cup of homemade chilli I had in the side was really tasty.

We just had cups of tea, but really nice little place and the outdoor garden/ terrace bit was sublime. Unless you have a fear of birds. Those Jackdaws are voracious. They will not take no for an answer.

We had the mozzarella paniek and my daughter had the scone. She thought it was the best scone she had in the holiday. The paninis were nice and the service very fast. Food and drink is really affordable.

Came here with my partner's family for a quick bite for lunch. I had the jacket potato with the homemade chilli and some cheese. It was lovely, jacket potato was cooked well and the chilli was delicious with a nice kick. It also came with homemade coleslaw which was nice. My partner and her family had different panini's and all said that they were lovely. Staff were friendly, would come here again.

Absolutely loved the place, is located so nicely beside a river which makes it more enjoyable having a quick bite and drink in the garden. The staff is very nice and welcoming, the food and drinks are very good as well and not expensive either. If your travels take you to Grasmere have a stop and you will not regret it for sure! Enjoy 👍🏻❤

Nice little place to grab a hot drink or bite to eat. Has a mixture of sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes and some sweet foods. Nice little outdoor seating area too with views of the stream. They also sell some beers.

Nice place for breakfast or lunch. Sitting next to river, beautiful. Very soft toast and bacon baked to the perfection. Definitely recommend

The tea gardens have a lovely, heated outdoor terrace beside the river with great views across to St Oswald's church and the graveyard where Wordsworth is buried. The service was friendly and quick, and the food very tasty if not a bit pricey. I'd definitely recommend it as a pleasant place to take a break from sightseeing whilst in Grasmere.

HIGH FORCE WATERFALLS...TEESDALE. ( not Grasmere) Absolutely great day out for all ages. 😁 Walked to top of falls both sides, you can feel the water spray on your face & a walk down bottom falls too. 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️👍

Superb polite smart friendly staff, prices are high end of normal for the area but good location and choice of indoor and outdoor seating.

Went in here with my daughter while waiting for the bus. Staff were immediately helpful and found us a table. We had a window view of the river out the back. My daughter got the ice cream which tasted lovely, I got an americano coffee. Came to a fiver which I thought was a good price. I had a nice experience here and I would recommend popping in.

The view was worth it all! Such a warm and cosy environment. We ordered the ginger cake, this tasted good but could've been more fresh. Cannot wait to visit this place again and try out new food/drink from the menu.

Terrible service - rude staff. No children's menus and incredibly expensive _ ordered a panini and got a toasted sandwich. When we queried this apparently the sausage doesn't fit on a panini and it's in the small print on the menu!!! So we basically got what we ordered...What a joke - we basically got a toasted breakfast sandwich with a bit of chutney for nearly £7 we could have got the same sandwich untoasted and without the said chutney for £2.45 less - but the staff did not like that we were complaining and were Pig ignorant - avoid this place at all costs!! What a shame we didn't choose one of the many other establishments in beautiful Grasmere :

Called into this cafe mid afternoon on Tuesday. Albeit there appeared to be lots of staff only 1 young lad was serving. We waited so long that we gave up. Why have so many staff and only one serving? The place was so untidy and unwelcoming. There was no evidence of a 'manager' or 'supervisor' . The toilets were dirty and smelly. We won't be back.

Called in here today as it was raining and needed somewhere to sit down for a while. They were quite busy but we got seated ok. I had the chilli bowl and my husband opted for soup and a roll. Found the prices to be on par with other places. Staff were curtious and efficient, very busy clearing etc to make room for more people. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and it was served quickly despite them being busy, well done all, a lovely little place to relax for a while.

Visited about 11am for a stop off in the rain yesterday. Ordered 3 bits of cake but only served and paid for 2....helped with the waist line! Son loved his Alabama chocolate fudge cake and hot choc with cream and a flake. Value for money.

Really enjoyed soup and a panini, lovely cafe with friendly staff. All the best for 2018.

Lovely location, especially when the weather is good enough to sit out overlooking the river. Coffee and carrot cake were great and staff friendly. The tea rooms had been recommended to us by a friend who visited earlier in the year.

Lovely spot, very clean, great menu for breakfast, lunch or cakes 😊 Would definitely recommend!

Great little place. Lovely casual food and AMAZING staff! Even gave us some scones to go as they were closing up.

Favourite spot for a bite to eat, after walking over from the Langdale valley, on the terrace by the river.

It is in a lovely spot to sit at and have a chat with friends. We only stayed for a cuppa but have been there many times.

Very rude staff, what ever you do don't ask to use the toilet without saying PLEASE first even though you have a medical condition they will not let you x

If the weather is good and you can sit outside by the river it's a perfect place for a snack and a good cuppa
