Beautiful location just outside of Grasmere The pub was cosy with the log fire burning away. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff could not have been any more helpful and made you feel welcome. every single one of them were constantly happy, smiling and polite. Nelly who I believe was the manager was brilliant. Breakfast was really good. A large selection of cereal, bread, juice and pastries and then several hot breakfast options included also. The eggs Benedict were very good. The bedroom was a good size, the bed was very comfy we had a great sleep both nights. Would highly recommended and would definitely stay again.
We really enjoyed our two night stay in The Swan. Very helpful staff throughout our stay and delicious food too. Breakfast was very well organised with plenty of room for all the guests. Nice that there was a separate area for guests with pets. A very good bar selection to finish each evening whether in the cosy bar area or in the well maintained beer garden. While the Swan is next to the main road this isn’t a problem as the traffic is quiet most of the time in the 40mph zone. It’s a short ten minute walk into the beautiful village of Grasmere we’re there is plenty to see in the independent shops, cafes and hotel bars. The views all around the hotel are fabulous with the magnificent fells and woodland. Well worth a visit!
Well presented small chain Hotel.
Lots of bar rooms with local themed decor.
Possibly by someone from London
3 cask ales, mine was nice.
Standard fare if you're struggling for a booking elsewhere.
Clean, well staffed.
Beautiful inn located in the gorgeous Lake District!! Walking trails just outside the door. The inn was lovely, clean, well taken care of. Staff were wonderful! It was a relaxing stay!
Fantastic place for a drink and food. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. We just had a drink and sat in the beer garden. Great view but noisy, due to being near a busy road. The interior looks great, and there's two bars.
What's lacking in the rooms makes up for it in hospitality and service. Booked an above average room as didn't want a small room however the room was cold we asked for heaters to be provided unfortunately none available. The windows weren't DBL glazed either. We were offered another room shown 2 by manager we picked the better one 16 which was still quite large but slightly smaller easier to heat. A very important question definitely overlooked in refurbishment as old property.
Had a wonderful stay with our Labs at the Swan, staff could not have been more friendly, room was spot on, comfy bed, great shower. Bar area cosy with plenty of space in different areas to chill out, breakfast was so so tasty. Location is excellent, 5 min walk to the Gingerbread shop, several walks with stunning views. Free parking.
We stayed here for two nights in April 2024. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the hotel is in a great location and has nice big rooms. It also has its own free car park which was excellent.
The evening food is delicious but the cooked breakfast wasn't great unfortunately. There are both continental and cooked options included in the price
In our room, the water pressure isn't very strong so bare that in mind whilst showering and the only place with enough light to do your makeup once the sun has set is in the bathroom so if you have low blood pressure or can't stand up for long periods i recommend bringing a ring light!
There also appeared to be some mould on one of our pillow cases but we just didn't use it so it wasn't an issue. The pole in the wardrobe also seemed to be a mm or 2 too short so it kept falling down if we tried to put anything on it. So again, we just didn't use it.
Overall very nice and would stay again, but I'd maybe bring a ring light next time!
The lobby and resturant is fantastic, every corner is well decorated, full of antique style decorations. Clean and tidy. The food was simply delicious.
We spent Christmas here and honestly didn't know what to expect. However, everyone who worked here was fantastic. The two guys working the bar made a brilliant guiness and cocktails. The serving staff were always there when you needed and how they managed to get all that food out on time waa amazing. Highly recommend this place.
Visited Grasmere from Ireland and stayed here this weekend for the Wordsworth conference. It was so cozy, clean, the food was delicious and the staff were so helpful. We needed a late check out and the wonderful staff were more than happy to help. Would hands down recommend.
We had a 2 night stay in January this year and everything about the hotel was brilliant. The staff are very friendly, the food was great, the rooms were lovely and the location is just a few minutes from the centre of Grasmere. We had a fabulous time.
My husband and I visited this pub and restaurant one quite Sunday afternoon for our 1 year wedding anniversary meal. There were some issues with our order initially. However, the managers have since resolved the matter, and we will return in the future!
Lovely rooms and excellent service. All the staff are very welcoming. Breakfast is very good, with a good range of food. We loved the location, its on the edge of Grasmere, but close enough to walk into the village.
my husband and i have been spending our honeymoon in the lake district and we've really been blown away, particularly by this pub. the pub is absolutely gorgeous, great food, nice selection of beers and incredible staff. hats off to Tony who really made us feel at home. it was a lovely, wholesome experience.
