We found ourselves in the area and google searched for something to eat. Up popped the Royal Oak and off we went for Sunday lunch. What a gem of a place, staff were very accommodating, we had 3 dogs with us, we sat in the beer garden and enjoyed good beers, delicious food and very friendly & professional staff. If we lived closer, it would probably become 'our local'.

Me and my family stayed here for the weekend. We have stayed in alot of places around the country, but this was the best ever. They made us feel very welcome, the staff are second to none, and the food is outstanding. I would recommend this hotel to anyone! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone at The Royal Oak..

Stayed at the Oak for the second time last weekend. Since we stayed last year the bedrooms have been refurbed and our room was lovely very clean, plenty of gorgeous fluffy towels, tasteful good quality pine furniture, a wonderful comfy bed and of course a delicious breakfast. We also had dinner again and the food doesn't disappoint a good menu with tasty well prepared ingredients. What makes the Royal Oak extra brilliant is the friendly, efficient staff from the waiters to the bar staff they are all lovely. Thank you for another great stay.

Spent an evening last night at The Royal Oak for a 60th Birthday Celebration, food was very good with everyone cleaning their plates, service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Stayed the night for B&B in recently refurbished bedrooms, perfectly comfortable with comfortable beds, upstairs still a work in progress but not far off finished, rooms have TV and tea/coffee making facilities, air conditioning of a next door property was a bit noisy, not sure what time it kicked in but noticeable around 7:00am. Shower was tank fed and a little tricky to set perfectly but plenty of hot water. Breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit, fruit juice, cereal, full English and a Vegetarian option, toast and coffee with great service. If you wanted more just had to ask. Friendly staff and would use again.

Great Sunday roast - I had the triple meat and couldn't believe how much there was! Luckily friendly staff offered a doggy bag so took what I couldn't eat back for my pooch Food was delicious and cocktails were lush. Also loving the new bistro look.

Booked for 4pm. Arrived around 3.30pm, seated straight away by a friendly and welcoming waiter. We were able to order straight away and drinks arrived promptly, shortly followed by our Sunday lunch. Our pooch was catered for also with his own meal served with ours (£4.50 for doggy meal). Atmosphere lovely as always, food delicious 😋 pork crackling especially so. I had the trio of meats, my mam went for beef dinner and with a bottle of red and a coffee thrown in the whole bill came to £62.30 (I believe). Which I'd say is value for money given the quality of service the food and general ambience.

We had two work functions here. Food and drinks spot on, including hot drinks ready on arrival. Much appreciated. The events ran very smoothly, thanks to the excellent organisation and attentiveness of the staff. The private room is ideal for an extended work meeting. Thanks so much to the team. We will return and would recommend to others.

Really friendly staff and great food. We need to come back and try all their Parmo options. The rooms were nicely decorated with comfortable beds. We couldn't hear any noise and had a good night's sleep.

Upon fishing a lovely walk around Roseberry Topping, me and my 3 sisters were on the hunt for a good meal to refuel before driving the hour journey back home. A quick Google search lead us a few minutes down the road to this little gem of a place. First impressions were that it was a very welcoming cosy and friendly place very traditional, the staff were amazing, very accommodating and thankfully didn't mind we were a wee bit muddy from the walk 🙏 hot drinks brought straight out to us. We weren't waiting very long before our breakfasts were brought out , and they were delicious very good quality ingredients and you could tell everything was cooked fresh and was full of flavour, I must give a big shout out to the black pudding it was the best I've had ( tasted and looked home made) we were all very impressed and cleaned our plates leaving feeling very full and satisfied, if I was in the area again I would 100% be eating here again.

We booked a table for 4 and 3 dogs and they were more than happy to have us. We all had the Sunday roast and it was very nice. Plenty of veggies and extra gravy to share. I upgraded for the large Yorkshire pudding with a roast chicken, and it was very nice and moist. The stuffing was nice as well, but some more would have been good. The staff were very nice and helpful. I would definitely come back again.

Traditional Yorkshire pub in the center of a lovely village. Beautiful room furnished in a modern country style and immaculate newly refurbished shower room. Delicious food! We had dinner and breakfast and the ingredients were all quality and cooked to perfection. The sausage, bacon and black pudding come from the butcher next door and the eggs are really fresh. For starters we had the ham hock terrine with piccalilli and thd seafood cocktail, very generous portions. Lots of smoked salmon, crayfish tails and smoked macrel on the seafood cocktail. Can recommend the lasagne, the parmos and the chips are proper chips, yummy. We tried a bailies creme brulee and a lemon and Berry delicious, both scrumptious. The bar has a great selection of beers, lagers, gins & wines and gas a real fire. The staff are all really friendly and attentive. Love this pub and can't wait to return.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all at the Royal Oak for making my Father-in-law's 96th birthday lunch last week such a great day. We needed a quiet corner so he could hear which you prepared, the food was excellent and really tasty, the service from all your staff was friendly, attentive and welcoming. It was truly a very special occasion thanks to all your efforts. Dog friendly too. We will be back!!
