Lathcoats has a fantastic farm shop and tea rooms. Produce excellent and tea room food amazing and all served by lovely, polite members of staff. Would definitely recommend both shop and tea rooms.

What a gem of a place. Somewhere to take the kids to enjoy the animals or in the summer and afternoon of pick you own fruits. The coffee shop is a delight, as are all the staff. The shop sells almost everything you need and caters for all budgets. You can even hire an apple tree for a year and have a bounty of fruit in the autumn. Just wonderful to have this little haven on our doorstep. Keep up the fantastic work.

A little hidden delight We Iove Lathcoats from summer days strawberry picking to winter hot chocolates in the cafe.lovely donkeys and cheeky goats that love some attention! There’s something very nostalgic about the place . The little farm shop is like a cavern of delights from fresh produce to countless jams pickles and spreads. Lovely little gifts to be found too. Our daughter loves the outdoor play area from the tractors to a simplistic area of tiles to make her own game jump on your favourite design. The bee shed is Such a nice place to connect with friends old or young. Keep up the loveliness of this place lathcoats we will continue to visit time and time again!

Great place to spend a morning or afternoon. Took my 3 yr old who really enjoyed picking strawberries and cherries. Then had a look around the farm shop, drinks in the cafe then to the play area. Lastly, spent a bit of time seeing some farm animals. Lovely place and very friendly staff.

We love having this place so close to home. My daughter loves visiting the animals and playing on the tractors. The farm shop is great for something a bit different or some fresh fruit and veg and the coffee shop is great too. One of our favourite places to visit as a family or with friends as it entertains the small ones while we have hot chocolate and cake!

Great farm shop! Love that most of the produce is local! The apples are so yummy and there are lots to pick from. The coffee shop is cosy and the cakes are very tempting. The farm is a perfect size for toddlers.

I love Lathcoats. I always PYO each summer and the produce in the shop is outstandingly good. Don't let an organised campaign of bullying get you down or put you off visiting. We are so lucky to have this place in Chelmsford. Thank you to everyone who works there to make it such a great place. J x

Lathcoates is great. My little boy loves looking at all the animals and riding around on the tractors before going into the shop and choosing an apple to eat. There aren’t many places in Chelmsford that visiting costs just the price of drink and an apple (and probably a slice of cake too because they are so scrummy!)

Such a fabulous place with loads of home grown and locally sourced goodies!! Friendly staff, who are always there to help if you need it and the owners really do care about involving the local community ... there’s a fab apple day in the autumn and you most definitely can’t visit without heading to the beeshed and sampling the amazing cakes and coffees (and breakfasts and lunches).

Love Lathcoats farm shop. The selection of apples are amazing and reasonably priced. My daughter loves seeing the animals and has already demanded I take her strawberry picking again this year. Although I don't agree with caged hen eggs it wouldn't put me off shopping here! Everyone has a choice!!

Great place to visit. The farm shop was typical farm products at the higher price. The parking is limited but free , however the cafe was lovely with a family room and a quiet room for those with our kids. The rear of the ground has a pet area which is great and makes the visit with grand kids great fun and a more enjoyable time.

Amazing! @Lathcoats Farm πŸ‘Œ Was here with my 3yrs old daughter who already loves animals. It was indeed the best experience for her seeing different kinds of species, how they feed, what they eat and so on... She was super excited and didn't want to leave the farm πŸ˜€ Even I, her mum was very impressed πŸ‘ πŸ‘Œ Loved the co-ordination of staffs with the animals. Unfortunately we couldn't stay that long, but was elated being in that kind of environment with the awesome animals. So many various species. Well done guys πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Keep up the good work God bless you all. Amen πŸ™

Amazing place. The shop, cafe, pick your own and little farm is just all round amazing. Has a lovely feel to the place and always very good value for money. The farm itself is free so we just potter about and enjoy watching them as and when we like. We went to the pick your own at the weekend, had great fun walking around to see what late season stuff we could find. Love this place.

This farm isn't really that far out in Chelmsford, to the point I really wasn't expecting it to be very big. When we turned up there was a sign to either short or long car park (long to the left / short to the right). It looked busy I short stay area so we went to long stay but the business was more likely due to the fact that you drive through the short stay area to exit! Car park itself is a fair size, and it looks as though they do strawberry picking when in season. We had intended to visit the cafe, but it was too busy and just a little too cold to sit outside with the kids. We went to visit the animals, there isn't loads but uts free entry and nice to see the animals being kept so nicely. They also have a little play area with some ride on diggers that the kids had a go at. The farm shop itself doesn't look all that big when you walk past, but when you go in it's actually filled with a fair amount of stuff! As with most farm shop type places some of the goods are a tad on the expensive side, although we found the stuff they make themselves fairly reasonably priced (we got apple juice, apples, some salad bits and some cider!) It was a nice visit and I would visit again - and the apple juice was pretty good!!

Beautiful farm & friendly staffs! The strawberries are still unripe. Should be better in the next few weeks when we get more sun. Would love to be back! Fresh fruits. Love the animal section as well! There’s one particular goat that was so friendly ❀️❀️

The store is very complete with varied products and all organic. Quality high price. The girls in the cafeteria are very friendly. You must order at the bar and they bring the food to the table. Everything organized and clean toilets. The farm is small but ideal for children to come and see the animals. You can take a walk to see the trees and the harvest depending on the season. Highly recommended.

Apple day and pumpkin picking. Great day out for the children. Some craft activities kept them busy. Finally I bought a variety of apple juice to take home. Recommended

Really great activity to do with the kids during summer. Very clearly marked out and easy to pick all fruit and veg. Lovely farm shop to look round and staff are so friendly. Little farm park for the kids too which is free to see animals and have a play. Come here every year. Highly recommended.

What a lovely place to enjoy some quality times with the grand littles. First, we had lunch in a wonderfully clean and friendly cafe, the staff really did make us feel special, helpful and understanding. The menu offered a great choice of lunch bites with a separate children's menu. Plus a special options list. The Mushroom soup was awesome. Plenty of cakes for an extra treat to. The rest rooms clean and sparkly and the hi chairs and disabled facilities met with our kindly approval. Outside we enjoyed the farmyard experience with goats, alpacas, donkeys and a huge pig resting up in the hut. Kids loved it and the little buggy sized tractors made it fun for grandad hat (me), as he pushed Maisie around the circuit. Finally, did some shopping in the farmshop coming home with plenty of beautiful goodies to fill our hearty needs. They even had eco friendly tubs of green body washes where you top up your existing containers. Well done Lathcoats Farm, a gem in Chelmsford.

Really lovely, we done some young farmer experiences and walked the alpacas and the bug experience with 'all about alpacas" , so have been a couple of times, which was really lovely. You have to book that separately, the cafe was lovely but busy and the shop had a good range of food and drinks . The farm itself Is very small and there is a little play area with some ride on tractors. So unless you have booked a experience day , there isnt loads to do hit good if meeting friends for lunch or something, Would be back for sure

First time visiting, went with our 2.5year old and it was brilliant. Great day out for the kids to learn where food comes from. This place is an absolute gem! We picked raspberries, apples, plums and corn, then spent time in the play areas with the little toy tractors and seeing the animals. We also stayed for a late breakfast in the cafe. We didn’t get a chance to visit the farm shop but we’ll definitely be back to check it out next time. In terms of what we did do: 1) Pick Your Own - be sure to check in advance and pre-book a slot (requirement). This is very clear on their website, so if you don’t book it’s your own fault. The raspberrries and apples tasted amazing. Loads available to pick. Sign-posted well. Great experience for little ones. 2) Play area - clean and well looked after with plenty of ride-ons. I love how natural it is rather than a massive play structure. Very wholesome. 3) Animals - great variety. Pig, alpacas, donkeys, goat, rabbits, chickens, guinea pigs. 4) Cafe - Food quality was really good and delicious. Great menu too with lots of options, inc for kids. Reasonably priced. The place was very clean and great feel to it. As a minor improvement suggestion - it would be good to offer pre-made sandwiches like cheese and ham for kids all day, not just at lunch. 4) Facilities - lots of free parking. Clean toilets, lots of friendly and knowledgeable staff, easy to get around / good signage. The place is well staffed and clearly well managed. Highly recommend!

We had a great time at Apple Day 2023. There was a community feel to the event and the organisation was very good. There were lots of stalls and plenty to taste.

This place is great. The Farm shop has a wide range of food, gluten free and vegan options. It’s also a great place to go Zero-Waste with pick n mix of fresh fruit, veg, nuts and seeds. As well as frozen fruit as well at a reasonable price. The cafe is good, could do slightly better on the soya coffee frothing but still not bad! Also had vegan specials on offer! The animals are adorable and well looked after, all loved to cone say hello!
