Review The Blue Egg - Great Bardfield

Doug Regan
Great place for a lightish lunch or coffee. Food was plentiful and very tasty. Staff were pleasant friendly and helpful! Love the buzzers they give you to take to your table which buzz and flash when your order is ready at the pick up point. Freshly made bread sold in the bakery section although quite expensive is large and lovely bread(they will slice it for you if required. Well worth a visit with a well stocked shop adjoining!

Popped in here for lunch unfortunately they had ran out of certain food items on the breakfast menue but food was nice .plenty of staff here but found it strange you had to collect your food and drinks from a trolley round the back of the kitchen. Table seevjce would be nicer .

I would like to show my gratitude to all the staff at the Blue Egg today. My parents and I are regular customers, we love the food, staff and friendly atmosphere. Unfortunately my elderly father had a bad fall on his way out and is currently in hospital. We were helped by so many people including staff and customers, I wish I knew everyones names to thank them in person. Fingers crossed I will return with my father soon to enjoy this wonderful venue. Xx Heather

Great place for breakfast. Vegans and vegetarians are well catered for as well. Nice shop selling local goods as well. Customer service of staff at the cafe is second to none. Lovely n

The food arrived pretty quickly but now you have to collect your own food and drinks. Quite a few tables not been cleared. So, I had to clear one to be able to sit down outside. However, the food was lovely, but the little spark ✨️ has gone a little since the changes.

Great food and service. One star off for the "your food is ready" buzzers. The ringing haunts my dreams. But what a pulled pork bun!!

Lovely place. The cafe is dog friendly, it serves a good variety of food with many vegetarian dishes. Their freshly baked bread is gorgeous. The animals there are well cared for, and the enclosures are well maintained. The craft and general shop are always lovely to browse around.

Popped in today to drop off a parcel. The smell of the fresh cooked food was amazing. Had some hot food and was cooked to perfection. Staff and everyone was so friendly. Highly recommended.

Lots of nice items to buy from cards and gifts to children's toys and home decor items. The cafe has a good choice of hot food items, hot and cold drinks and cakes and other home baked goods such as cookies and brownies. We had a lovely tea and a couple of cakes for a good price. The staff are friendly and there's plenty of parking outside.

The first time I have been to The Blue Egg for breakfast although have been there for lunch many times before. Full English breakfast for £7.95 is good value in my eyes - all the usual stuff and, if like me, you hate black pudding then they will replace it with an extra sausage, rasher of bacon or whatever takes your fancy. Food good quality, not swimming in grease which I have experienced elsewhere. Will happily go there for breakfast again

We rode out to the Blue Egg for lunch on 06/04/2018. I had a coronation chicken sandwich on granary bread which I think was the nicest sandwich I’ve ever eaten!! Very fresh bread and delicious filling served with a quality salad garnish. My husband had the mushroom soup with a selection of bread. He too said the food was delicious. We followed this with a piece of Victoria sponge and coffee & walnut cake. Both were very tasty and decent portions at decent prices. We will certainly be back

Fantastic. Always good. Food freshly cooked each day with local produce. When it’s gone it’s gone. Get there early to experience the full menu.

First visit on a lovely sunny day. Excelent cakes... Nice shop with unusual gifts and nice food.

Excellent. If you are gluten free then it's wonderful. You have choices including sandwiches, even backed beans on toast. A choice of cakes. Can't think of too many places where you get to choose rather taking what you can have. Also excellent for the non GF.

This was our first time here the cafe is well presented and clean. Initially I thought the food was expensive but when it turned up it was well worth the money. Our only complaint was the tea and coffee were cold. But the food was exceptional.

We had a lovely lunch here yesterday. Home cooked food, very tasty and nicely presented in a clean and friendly environment. We had quiche of the day with a green salad, which was really enjoyable 😋

Food was good, service on the poor side, staff could smile a little more maybe. Otherwise all good. Loved their brownies

Coffee is truly heavenly as I am a big coffee fan. Sausage rolls are nice but massively over priced at £4.50. Suggest £3.20 would be reasonable
