Just had a lovely family lunch celebrating my birthday (21again🙄) Very warm welcome from the two ladies, explained the menu and took drink orders. As I was opening cards they also wished me a very happy birthday. At the end of the meal, which we all enjoyed, the two ladies appeared with a delicious slice of cheesecake complete with candle, iced ‘happy birthday’ greeting on the plate and then sang ‘happy birthday’! Completely unexpected but a lovely thoughtful gesture - well done ladies! Hadn’t been to the Castle for a while as after having new owners, standards and staff had slipped a bit, but I can honestly say after today, the staff, service and food couldn’t have been nicer. Thank you ladies for your thoughtfulness and your singing!!

Had our 53rd Wedding Anniversary lunch yesterday. The staff were courteous. The atmosphere excellent. Very clean and excellent food. Highly recommended.

Came for Sunday roast. It was one of the best roast dinners I've had in a pub/restaurant! Service was excellent, the food was so nice and the price was so cheap, I actually questioned the bill! Cannot recommend enough and will be back regularly for dinners.

Good choice menu and reasonably priced wine. (But no list available and limited choice) As good as any pie and pint inn. Nice comfy setting. Picture of food says it all!

Fantastic service!! your really couldn't fault the food the staff couldn't do any more than they did very attentive but not overly in your face definitely worth a visit this is on my list fir a return visit!!

I had a roast. The beef was so tender & tasty, the roast potatoes could not have been any better. Every thing was faultless.

Nice pub restaurant. Went on a hot day and sat inside to eat then outside for a drink. Food decent and service was friendly. Would go back

We organised the wake for my late husband at the Castle recently and while it was a very emotional time for our family, Cheryl and her team pulled out all the stops to ensure went smoothly on the day. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone who attended, were very impressed.

Just dropped in for a quick bite of dinner when passing. Service was great but they were a bit short staffed in the kitchen so the food was slow to arrive and turned out to be cold in parts, but was tasty none the less, so just ate it all up!!

Just want to say the food was top notch! Shane the new manager was fantastic and very accommodating.

Just went on a whim to the pub and wasn't disappointed. Good pub food which is a little bit different to other pubs in the area. Felt very welcomed and would always go back

Went to the Castle last night 28/7 for a family birthday dinner 6adults and 4children (2preschool age) not the first visit for us but was for some of our party as usual warm reception on arrival and quickly served with drinks good and varied menu and also specials of the day all the staff we had dealings with were very friendly and nothing seems too much trouble for them our waitress Lesley was a delight very good with the little ones as well which was appreciated everyone enjoyed what they had ordered food was delicious big thanks to the talented chefs biggest hits seemed to be the cockle popcorn and the sea bass would definitely recommend as we have been about four times now and never a disappointment

Really nice food and staff very welcoming. Took my 3yr old and the waitress was so good with him, offering me a plastic cup for his drink and removing the knife from his place setting. Would recommend.

We had a lovely breakfast even though the hash browwwns were crunchier, but we forgave them as everything else was lovely we ended up being there till start of lunch felt so relaxed and welcomed, our disappointment comes on when paying the bill, 2 paid on card and the other cash, as we sat waiting for her change we realised the the female staff meme we had put it in the tips pot with out asking tut tut bad manners. We asked for our change and left - the morning waitress was going to get a good tip until the lunch time waitress did this - please remind staff it is polite to bring all change back to table and not expect it as a tip - otherwise great experience hence 4 not 5

Another great meal with friends, we shared the seafood platter to start there was plenty for all of us. For main course we all had ribs which were delicious. No room for dessert!! Great service

Went for breakfast here today, I have been several times before and had always had a nice meal, however they have changed the menu and have removed the "eggs royale" (eggs benedict with smoked salmon instead of ham). This means there is very little for non-meat eaters unless you want sweet food like pancakes. The member of staff was not very polite about it when I expressed my disappointment, and the 2 poached egg on toast that I did order were not cooked properly. It is such a shame and I won't be going back again.

This was the 1st time for the South East Lotus Owners Club (SELOC) to have their Christmas party night at the Castle and I can’t thank the staff enough for making it a great night. They were so attentive polite & couldn’t do enough for us. Everyone who attended said their meal was excellent and was impressed with the venue. The pub also had a visiting carol singing choir which made the evening even more festive. The Castle experience is definitely worthy of 5 stars. We will definitely be making several return trips to the Castle.

Went for lunch yesterday. Staff polite clean and tidy. Ordered a sharing platter for starters. Couldn't fault it, was lovely and worth the money. The gammon salad I had for main was a different story! Two small half slices of warm thin fatty ham a dollop of coleslaw yuck! Hardly any vegs in it all mayo some new potatoes and the salad was some mixed leaves. Would definitely swerve the "salad". I was a cook in a kitchen for over 14 years and would never had served it as an excuse for salad. If I go back I will stick to a sharing platter but not share it next time. Bitterly disappointed

Went last night. We both ordered the small fish and chips. Only to receive fish battered fish fingers. Not what the menu stated. Will not return for a while.

I guess we were 'unlucky' an hour after ordering, the meal was still not in sight, it eventually arrived with a free bottle wine which was appreciated . The soup followed halfway through the main course. The quaility, presentation of the food did not warrant the cost, we were disappointed, We were given 20% off our final bill as there were chef issues, will try out again but maybe on a lunchtime :0)

Yet another lovely meal served by a very helpful friendly waitress. Best pub to eat in by far in the area.
Dianne Worthington
Shared a seafood platter which was delicious. Pleasant service.
Jessica Arnold
It’s such a lovely room but the food was not good. The ‘spicy chicken tenders’ were just grilled mini-fillets in a bbq sauce? Odd. Chips not homemade and slightly anaemic. Chicken with the ceaser salad was freeeeeeezing! Service was slow. Wine was nice though Won’t rush back

Lovely friendly atmosphere, staff very accommodating, Food was absolutely gorgeous, we had a table of six and everybody enjoyed the food. Would recommend this pub to anybody .
