Review Cafe Rouge - Greater Manchester

Fabulous choice of food. Staff were patient and polite. Everywhere really clean no cluttered uncleared tables.

Went here for a belated birthday celebration, armed with a special offer. The food was v nice, the prices not exorbitant, and the staff very competent. I had the Poulet Breton which I enjoyed. They were friendly and persistent in making sure we got our special deal, even though it took a few goes. Hope to be back soon.

We hadn't booked and had a friendly welcome by the chap behind the bar. Hannah was our waitress, she was friendly and very professional. We had 3 courses and all of the food was spot on, the onion soup, my steak and dessert was all perfect . The decor and warmth of the restaurant gives you that french feel. Also the rest of the staff were great too. 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 We will definitely be going to other cafe rouges.

Our first impressions weren't good. It should be noted that if you have an allergy you'll have to run the gauntlet of questions and management avoidance of risk. All before you've been shown to a table. That said, a waiter called Sheldon showed what service and empathy are all about. He resolved the situation with professionalism. We had a quick lunch and I have to say the food was good. Well cooked, presented and served. Will be back, but ready for the allergy quiz.

I love cafe rouge, me and my son went for lunch. There was one waitress seating people, taking drinks and food orders and payment. She was very busy but was extremely polite and was not flustered by all the customers. The food was delicious as always. Good little lunch stop.

Absolutely fabulous first visit for my Birthday. Afternoon tea was delicious. Staff were fantastic. Could not have wished for a nicer venue and service.

Great location, nice food. One poor girl serving too many tables for one server. The Lowry market was on so I guess that's why it was busy... But predictable. Was it beyond the management to work out they needed more staff?

We ordered mussels and croque monsieur. Service was quick and the staff were polite. Food was tasty, fair portions and reasonable prices.

Not the fastest restaurant but surprises us. Food it's great and the waiters not bad but sometimes they forgot that is a table there waiting, the service still be good.

Staff were really attentive and patient. Would recommend 100% the food here too. Waitress made me an iced coffee even though it wasn’t on the menu

I love Cafe Rouge here in the Trafford Centre, the staff are very friendly and it's a very comfortable place to relax. The prices are very competitive and they have a large selection of hot and cold snacks as well as a good range of meals to choose from. There are steaks, fish dishes and everything in between. Drinks are well priced too, there plenty of lagers, beers and wines to choose from. After a hard days shopping it is nice to come here to take the weight off your feet and do a spot of people watching.

The customer service here is amazing! Something happened with my burger where the incorrect order was sent to the kitchen, but they got the right order going, the manager came over to apologize and inform me it would only be a few minutes. Our waitress was wonderful as well. The burger itself was tasty, and on top of my UNIDAYS 50% discount, the manager took off another £5. I've never had customer service like this before in England (I'm an American student studying here) and I was very impressed. Thanks Cafe Rouge!

I called in Cafe Rouge in Manchester, while shopping at The Trafford Centre, I had heard good things about the brand and had wanted to try them out for a while, which sadly took longer after they closed down my local branch in The Manchester Printworks, but still I came today and sadly was dissapointed as it left a lot to be desired from my perspective, which led to me going away and eating somewhere else. As I've said before, this is in one of the biggest shopping centers in the UK, which as I recall has the largest food court in Europe, with so many different types of cuisines, resturaunts, coffee shops, fast foods being here and even a few pubs - Including a Weatherpersons, so they need to get ahead of the game, with a USP to bring customers in and away from rivals, and I don't think they do a good job at that sadly. Other than the sign, this place doesn't really stand out, it doesn't look a really nice place to eat and something they have fully modified to suit their own brand label, such as what other nearby brands have such as The Gourmet Burger Kitchen, often referred to as GBK. I asked about a gluten free menu, and the staff still tried to pressure me into sitting down, despite the fact she didn't seem to be paying any attention to my request, until I had to repeat myself, she tried to spend time looking for a menu only to remember it has been transferred onto the original menu. There were two labels, G and GO, one for gluten free and the other which could be made gluten free, there was a limited selection but I didn't really like the layout or the selection. I don't really feel this place has done enough to deserve two stars, and albeit one star is a little harsh, I feel it is more towards a 1.6 or a 1.7 but still it doesn't seem to have done enough for a low two star rating, so sadly I will have to stick with giving Rouge a one star rating on this occasion.

Cafe rouge is your run of the mill pop in type restaurant. I have eaten at several of their locations across Manchester through out the years. For some reason I always leave thinking why have I gone back. The restaurants are always clean and the staff pleasant but I feel the food is a bit meh. But like I said it is one of them places that you can just pop in for a quick meal. I opted for lasanga which was OK, my friends meal was rather disappointing though as it was rather oily. Unfortunately it does escape my memory what she ordered.

Lovely quiet meal for Easter Sunday, it's the least busy I've ever seen the orient! But as a result there was one waiter and one bar tender, so service was a little slow. No complaints about the food however, we opted for a starter and a main each for the very reasonable price of £12.95. We had the mushroom and late starters, half roast chicken and fries, and steak and chips. The chicken tastes mostly of the lime it was marinated in, but fell off the bone and was very succulent. The 5oz steak was perfectly cooked, medium as I'd asked. Very enjoyable meal.

Very pleasant bistro located in the Trafford centre (next door to Pizza Express and Giraffe). The menu is a la carte French dining and this is reflected in the prices (which average around towards £10-15 per dish). I ordered the seafood casserole, followed by Tarte Tatin and enjoyed both. The food is nice and light and you'll come away from the place moving like a welterweight not a bloated pig. The layout is very Parisian café, to the extent of providing street lamps and hanging linen outside the windows. Very kitsch. Be advised this place can get busy and service suffers as a result.

My wife ate here a few months back and to be honest she wasn't impressed. On the plus side, there was a lot of choice on the menu (with even more on the Specials boards), and the prices were fairly reasonable. However, the service was slow, and the food wasn't great either -- one of her party felt it tasted as though it had just been heated up in a microwave. All of this is a bit of a shame as we had a much better experience of Cafe Rouge in Covent Garden when we went there as a family a few months later. Perhaps the Trafford Centre branch was just having an off-day

Cafe Rouge is a chain if restaurants dotted around Manchester; there is one on Deansgate, on on the side of Printworks, one on Salford Quays and this particular branch at The Trafford Centre. It is a very stylist restaurant; inside it looks like a French Bistro, with steak baguettes and stuffed chicken dishes. For all the style, Cafe Rouge is not cheap, and of all the places you can eat, I feel it is not particularly memorable. Of the three times I have visited Rouge, service on the slow side so for that reason, I would give it a 3.

I love Cafe Rouge, it's romantic, affordable with great food and wine...the best place to eat at the Trafford Centre by far...after an exhausting night shopping what more perfect a way to finish than with a good glass of red wine and a sharing platter for two with olives, pate, bread etc.

Very bog standard, Sandwiches were like cardboard. Processed and over priced.

Café Rouge is very clearly a chain restaurantdon't expect a different experience if you go to more than one of them. But, I think Café Rouge is aware of this and instead concentrates on maintaining a level of consistency throughout its restaurants. For this reason I have found that you will never have a bad meal at Café Rouge. The minute steak is really tasty, as are the frites. It is on the pricey sidethe only reason I have been so much is that my girlfriend knew a manager there and we used to get really generous discounts! Will I go so often now said friend no longer works there? The jury is out.

If you like food, you will hate it here. Poor excuse for so called french cuisine the only thing authentic is the miserable waiting staff, just like in most French restaurants. The food is shameful, i'd say bland but it isn't even remotely that memorable, more like pitiful waste of ingredients blended together then packed like KFC then warmed by someone with an NVQ Level 1, probably gained at from the world famous Colonel Sanders school of food.

The only complaint Is that you do not get enough food, portions small

Cafe Rouge is a beautiful place right in the centre of town, overlooking Manchester. The staff are warm and friendly on arrival. The decor is very sophisticated and modern, but still has an element of France. The bathroom is spacious and bright and you can clearly see it is very clean. The food is also very delicious.

If it was possible to rate 0 stars I would. Food is greasy and mediocre and the service is appalling. I'm basing this on my experiences at the Trafford Centre restaurant. We were one of a about five other tables so it wasn't busy. There were four of us, we had three starters, four mains and two deserts and it took them over 2hrs to get this all two us (I still question why we even stayed for desert when the rest was so bad). We were not asked once if we wanted more drinks, found it impossible to get any member of staffs attention so ended up getting up to find someone whenever we wanted a drink. When the staff weren't serving food, they were just stood around chatting. We weren't the only table not being served drinks! The other people near us also had to get up to find a member of staff. I emailed a complaint to Cafe Rouge about our experience and they kindly offered me a £20 voucher, so I went back to give them another chance and it was just as bad!! The food was in fact worse and the service hadn't improved. By now I don't see the point in sending another email. They're beyond help and there are so many better places to eat in the Trafford Centre.
