Review Blenkinsopp Castle Inn & Bistro - Greenhead

We were on a 10-day UK vacation, and this was one of our overnight stays and the most enjoyable! Great B&B. The entire staff was awesome. We had fish and chips at numerous locations but theirs was by far the best. The pub was great (especially the local gentleman and his German Sheppard!). The breakfast is included and was great. We were there to visit the Housesteads Roman fort nearby and very glad I stumbled upon this hidden gem. Stay here if you plan to be in the area, you won't be disappointed!

There is a real castle but the pub and accommodation is next to it. Probably the story about the castle already being there when Richard Lionheart was around and a Muslim princess living there is a bit of a hoax but a good story nevertheless. Dinner is very good, rooms nice with the little patio.

Dare i give the game away but what a great overnight stop, they do do bnb but also if your in your camper you can stop here as long as you have a meal in the inn. The steak i had was spot on .. flavoursome and almost melting along with the peppercorn sauce washed down with a couple of tasty pints. My partners chicken was also a good feast. All in all a good meal with great service. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.. if i lived local i would become a regular.

Please Ignore the recent 1* reviews, there obviously seems to be a little bit of jealousy of how perfect this little hidden Gem actually is!! Myself and my partner stayed in our campervan in the rear car park of the pub after a very busy day doing part of our Nland250 tour. We came across blenkinsopp Castle Inn via a campervan Facebook group and after seeing how many people rated this place we thought we would give it a try. Well let me tell you, from start to finish this has to be one of the best pub stop overs we have ever done. The owners where very welcoming, polite and professional, the food was absolutely insane, that good on the evening we had to go for breakfast in the morning too!!! (all cooked fresh) Harry who was working the bar was extremely professional, polite and also very welcoming. The decor of this pub is beautiful (all done by the owners) with a beautiful open fire šŸ”„ The locals are all very friendly and welcoming into the pub, one of the locals organises bingo & quiz nights in the pub, we actually got involved in the quiz night and it was extremely fun! Felt like we actually made some very good friends! The history of this pub is also insane! Definitely read up on this. All round we had a perfect stay and was so pleased to find this hidden gem! We have added it onto our Park4night camping app to share with others how beautiful this place really is. We will be back very soon!!! Matt & Jen x

We are so glad we chose this place for our overnight stop for the drive between Wales and Scotland. The original castle was built in the 1300s, and was restored in the 1800s as a mansion. A fire ravaged it in the 1950s, and it was rebuilt into the inn that it is today, incorporating some of the original castle structure. The guest rooms are small, but modern, but the best part of this place so far is the pub. It's a popular spot for the locals, and we found ourselves to be most welcome guests, spending the evening enjoying good food, drink, and company before we turned in for the night. We chose this place simply due to its proximity to the ruins of Birdoswald Roman Fort and the adjacent sections of Hadrian's Wall. We certainly chose well. This will be one of the more memorable evenings of this vacation (our honeymoon).

We had a lovely stay with Gary and Carol while visiting hadrians Wall. The room was perfect and the food in the bar was excellent. The hosts couldn't have been nicer, friendlier or more accommodating. Highly recommend staying here, with the added bonus of a castle ruin attached.

Stayed here on a Britstop with my motorhome. Food is excellent and very reasonably priced. Book a table, as it fills up quickly.

I stayed here for two nights whilst walking Hadrians Path. I had my cocker spaniel in tow. Gary and Carol are the loveliest hosts and make you feel very welcome. When I checked in I was taken to my lovely spotless room which was very cosy and comfortable. I slept like a log both nights as did the doggo! You can have what you like for breakfast and there is a great choice. Gary is very accommodating. My poached eggs were just how I like them. The restaurant area is dog friendly which is fab and is a common bond between the patrons. On my first day of walking, Gary drove me and some other walkers to our start points which was very helpful as I couldnā€™t get a taxi booked the night before. When I finished my walk, I was lucky enough to try an amazing roast lamb lunch cooked by Carol. Itā€™s a shame I had to leave as I couldā€™ve talked to my hosts for a lot longer. Go and stay here if you want great food, friendly locals to chat to and a warm welcome. Loved it.

Great little b&b, its in the middle of nowhere but that didn't bother me. I had dinner there too and the food was really good. My only issue was that although the service was really friendly, I felt ignored during dinner but then it could be that they had a new starter so the other waitress was training her. But then take into account I was the only patron there! Service during Breakfast was faultless, the meal was substantial and tasty. Rooms were average size but very comfortable and welcoming. FYI the entrance to each room is from outside the pub. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would definitely go back.

Generous portions for Sunday lunch. There was a narrow choice but the pork was good though lacked apple sauce. Service was a little slow, it seemed they were boxing up a lot of take away dinners which maybe slowed then down a bit

This place is absolutely gorgeous and seems to change everytime we go decor wise. On arrival we walked past the most beautiful lounge/bar for residents or diners to enjoy a coffee or a drink, the lighting and the decor is so stylish and homely. A huge deal of thought has gone into every aspect of the whole place and it shows. There are many drinks on offer and great beers and local ales a huge selection of gins with all the different fever tree mixers to go with them. The restaurant was full but it took no time to be shown to our table with a highchair already waiting, order our roast dinners (we had pork and beef) and they arrived presented beautifully with a lovely selection of veg, huge Yorkshire puddings and 3 kinds of potato. I would go as far to say the best Iā€™ve ever had yesterday anywhere. Beautiful food, lovely warm atmosphere, pleasant surroundings, attentive staff. I would highly recommend and canā€™t wait to go back

Stephen and I booked a room at the castle on a whim. I'm so pleased we did. We had a lovely time. The staff bent over backwards they made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed a delicous evening meal and breakfast cooked by Carol. The inn is just our kind of place surrounded by beautiful countryside. The fire was roaring and the drinks were flowing served by the Jamiroquai look alike. Lizzy was very attentive and Gary extremely easy to chat to and down to earth. The room was very cosy and we slept really well. We are certainly going to return with our dog and do some walking.

Comfortable, friendly, and accommodating with excellent food. Myself and a group of ladies stayed here to do a Hadrian's wall challenge and the owner's of this establishment drove us to and from the start and finish line without any questioning. Would definitely stay again and recommend highly.
