Review The Wildfowler Inn - Greyabbey

Tim Gaston
Found this place on a street corner while passing through Greyabby and looking for somewhere for lunch. Parking at the side nailed the deal. Decent ambience inside. The staff were prefessional and as friendly as they should be. Fish chowder was off the menu so I had the salmon. The portions were average, and while I have seen some reviews saying they were huge this was definitely not the case. But that is often the case when you opt for fish. The food itself was good and the fish perfectly cooked. Really good. When we visited there were only a few tables taken but we waited a long time for the food to be served. Overall, recommended and if passing I'll definitely call in again.

Our first time dining here and it won't be the last! They had lost our online booking but they had no problem in accommodating us. Our children had the pizza and sausages followed by chocolate ice cream - both were enormous portions and they really enjoyed their meals. My husband and I had the steak sandwich and blue cheese Angus burger. Both were superb quality and the pepper sauce is unreal. Friendly and efficient service from lovely staff. We hope to return very soon.

The food here is incredible and the portions are huge. We had the salmon and the chicken stack. I absolutely love the Wildfowler Inn, but I always feel like I need rolled home after. The desserts were also fantastic and the girls serving are always courteous and lovely. Very highly recommended!

To be fair I was there on a quiet Tuesday night. Didn't have any food but did have a lovely craft beer made by a local micro brewery. Nice country pub and if there was a fire lit on these darker colder nights it would be great.

We popped in on the off chance and were found a table. Staff are friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and hot, portions are generous! Definitely recommend

Wow!! What a place! Eight of us went for dinner this evening and boy, what a treat! Wonderful tasting food, great portion size, friendly and efficient staff all for a very reasonable price. Thank you.

Called in for lunch in the beer garden. Weather was great, service was great & food was great. Large selection on the lunch menu & portions are big. Not too busy at 13:30, but got busier before we left. I would recommend the Wildfowler Inn for lunch.

Came in last week with my family! There was 10 of us and we weren’t waiting long before our food was served! The staff were lovely and came to check on us often to make sure we didn’t need more drinks etc! The food was well presented and tasted as good as it looked! Would definitely book again and I would highly recommend the Wildfowler to anyone!

Faultless local cuisine and hospitality. My Australian partner noted the Strangford Lough Mussels were the best she ever ate hands down! Great selection of international wines also. Highly recommended stopping here for lunch if exploring the Ards peninsula.

Called in on Mothering Sunday having pre-booked. First class service very attentive especially with the young grandson. Food was excellent for quality and price. They pour an excellent pint of Guinness. We will be back.

Called in at 3.30pm bank holiday Monday with no reservation but thankfully they were able to accommodate us (party of 4) lovely staff, quick service even though they were busy, excellent food, we had burgers x2, scampi & chicken strips, good portion sizes & value for money.

The food was excellent and plenty of it. I liked the little gravy boats on the side of the plate. I can't say enough about the food except to say it was very well presented. The dessert was to die for. The staff were very friendly and attentive

I was so looking forward to the Senior Citizens lunch today, but unfortunately was very disappointed. There are now only 3 options on the menu. None of them suited me or my companion, so we ended up ordering from the main menu at £11.95 for one course in stead of £8.95 for 2 courses on the Senior Citizens menu. The meal was ok but spoiled by over cooked or re cooked chips. There was one young girl on duty but in fairness there was only about 3 tables occupied. I think Wildfowler management need to take a closer look at their menu. It all started to go downhill a few months ago when the deep fried Brie was taken off the menu. We will not be back in a hurry.

Really disappointed in the food at the wild Fowler. Had lunch yesterday with my family. Everything was so dry and over cooked. Took most of it home to my dogs and even they weren’t keen. We used to love the food but sadly won’t be back

Have been curious about this place for a while, so finally called in yesterday. We only wanted a main course and a drink. Having looked at the menu we both plumped for rump of lamb. There was quite a wait for the food to arrive. Personally, I think we get uptight about this because of the pace we live! Why not relax? I told my wife I didn't mind waiting if the food was good. We were not disappointed. The lamb was superb. We both had champ plus the usual trimmings. This was the best we have ever tasted anywhere. We will be back.

The food was lovely but the staff could do with a lesson in smiling. We arrived at 430, the place was empty apart from one or two other tables, and because we hadn't booked we were made to feel like we were putting the staff out, shoved at a table right at the bar, when we asked was there any chance we could get another table, the waitress told us they were booked up, the majority of tables were empty!! The lack of customer service would put me off going back, although the food was delicious, and piping hot

Im really disappointed we went today and food wasnt the best and there were only 2 staff on who didnt smile very much and we waited for ages for someone to collect our plates and offer us dessert but after waiting 20 minutes we gave up. Poor service and mediocre food
