This visit, was my first to The Onslow Arms, and the food was awesome! I don’t use that word very often but it was really good. My husband and son had the burger. I was surprised my husband liked it as he has very high standards but he was very impressed.
I find it hard to get food that I like and I had two starters, chicken satay and goat cheese and beetroot salad, which were large and extremely tasty. My favourite was the chicken but the combination was great, and I’m glad I had a variety. Some of the starters are listed with a choice as a main, so make sure you don’t miss them as they are not listed under the mains. I can’t remember if the fish was cod or something else but it looked great and apparently was also great, and I’m tempted to try it next time.
The puddings were also delicious. Fruit crumble, lemon posset, and I had fresh seasonal fruit with peach sorbet, which had a good variety of fruits and the sorbet was delicious and a respectable quality. (I have a pet hate/annoyance of ice cream / sorbet “scoops” being more like “scrapes” but this scoop lived up to its name) I’m already looking forward to going again. Car parking was very generous but the entrance is hard to see, if you are new here. We went on a Saturday lunch time, and the restaurant looked full.

Travelled to the area for work last weekend, just from the website this pub looked inviting so we decided to stop here for a late lunch! Staff were really friendly and helpful. Great selection of drinks and wide variety of food. The food had that extra attention to detail which sets this pub apart from others, while using local ingredients to enhance their dishes. The fish and chips had the addition of Samphire in the batter, elevating the taste, best I've had in a long time! Others on the table thoroughly enjoyed the special fishcakes and the burger with plum chutney and blue cheese. Beer garden had plenty of seating, there is also ample inside too. This pub had such a lovely feel to it, whether a local or just passing through like me, it's well worth a visit! Loved it!

Popped in for a bite to eat at lunch and it was quite busy for midweek, their large car park two thirds full. Nevertheless got seated easily and food arrived promptly. Food was hot and very tasty, service is professional will definitely go back with little dog who enjoyed som chicken schnitzel!!

Top quality food, brilliant friendly staff and a fantastic cocktail to finish. Very dog friendly place with great seating areas inside or outside. Even let us stay overnight in our motorhome as we were on our way to Eurotunnel the next day (90 mins away so an ideal stopover if you’re travelling from the North)

Very much enjoyed meeting our friends for lunch. Waitress taking drinks order could have looked happier. Think she was a new member of staff. The other waitress was excellent.
My coffee was almost cold.

Really enjoyed our evening here. It was a busy Saturday night so we were grateful to get a table.
I used to dine here frequently many years ago but this was my first recent visit and I was pleased to see that the pub has retained its traditional, cosy charm.
We didn’t want starters so just went for a couple of nibbles to start with- the olives were good but the crackling was absolutely fantastic! Such a naughty treat but it was well seasoned and a completely crunchy delight.
We both ordered the 10oz rump steaks medium rare for our main course which we were pleased to see came with peppercorn sauce at no extra charge (unlike a lot of other establishments).
Mine was a little blue in the middle so our server had the kitchen give it another little blast on the grill and when it came back, it was perfect. The only thing that I would say is that it would have been nice to have had something green on the plate (a few watercress leaves or a grilled tomato perhaps) but other than that, it was delicious and the chips were particularly good- they were nice and hot, crispy on the outside and wonderfully fluffy inside.
But the best part of our meal was definitely the Black Forest sundae… utterly luxurious with lashings of whipped cream, vanilla and chocolate ice cream, cherry compote, chunks of brownie and the most fabulous chocolate sauce to finish it off! This dessert is a must try, in my opinion.
Service was friendly and we’d definitely come back again so thank you to all of the team for a lovely evening.

I visited my friend who lives in the area who uses this place regularly. We had liver absolutely the best I’ve had. Her daughter had fish and chips which looked good also. Friendly staff . Kudos to the Guy who served us South African I think. Also the lovely waitress, who went out of her way for me to taste a wine, as I was disappointed they had no Chardonnay. So I plumped for the Chablis which was pretty close to Chardonnay. Finished up with a brandy coffee outside under heaters in the lovely garden. Will def be back

We eat at the Onslow Arms from time to time, but Sunday was particularly special, as it was my birthday. The staff found out and I had the usual celebrations which were much appreciated by us all. The restaurant was crowded but eh staff were excellent, and the food also. A lovely, lively atmosphere.

This has got to be one of the best hostelries in the area if not the region - great atmosphere, interesting decor, beautifully furnished, excellent range of beers and superb food - and all served by really friendly staff. And a really decent size car park too - can’t fault it !

Our first visit. A great Gastro pub linked to the Wheatsheaf in Esher and the Crown in St Margaret's. Atmosphere was buzzy and the food and menu really good. Very attentive staff and mum had a great day for her birthday. We'll be back.

Really busy night with live music. We were still looked after and served food efficiently, happily and the food was amazing. Wanted to eat here for some time and was not disappointed. Great outdoor area and cosy interior. By far my favourite pub around

Sunday lunch for mums birthday, 3 children 6 adults and a large well behaved dog, we orsered drinks but initially we weren't happy with the table as in the window and scorching hot, they managed to get us moved quickly, the drinks were waiting at the table along with water for the dog. The waitress was really fab couldnt do enough for us and v personable. The 2 courses at £18.95 were exceptional value and there wasn't a scrap left on our plates...great atmosphere, great with kids, dogs and grown ups!! Thankyou we will be back!

Good lunchtime meals and lovely sunny day for late September so nice to sit in the sunny pretty garden. Sandwiches, spicy prawns, variety of mushrooms on toast, chips all were delicious.

A beautiful village Pub /restaurant. We booked lunch for 7 yesterday & were not disappointed. The roast pork was delicious & the roast potatoes were the best I have ever tasted, lovely & crisp on the outside & fluffy inside. We are already planning to book again, first class service & a lovely environment.

Had a celebration meal in a perfect setting from pre dinner drinks in the courtyard to be followed by a delicious 3 course meal chosen from a very tempting menu. Service was attentive, friendly but not intrusive. Great ambience in this beautiful building. Must repeat the experience soon !

Visited today after being diverted off the motorway so only stumbled across the Onslow arms and we are so glad that we did.
Very busy as Sun was shining but the manager managed to seat us quickly. All the staff were very helpful and polite and hard working they seemed to be constantly busy.
We both had the nicoise salad and our son had a junior Sunday roast and all three meals were delicious.
I even got food envy from most of the tables surrounding us as everything looked and smelt delicious.
Reasonably priced and a lovely atmosphere, only downside is we live in Cheshire so would be a fair drive to return every week, we will return if ever in the area as we were really impressed x
