Review The Royal Oak Inn - Handcross

Ate outside, nice and clean. Small menu with no childrens options unfortunately. Luckily we visited specifically for the Ploughmans which had been recommend. It was delicious and a large portion for the price so we could share with our son. Very impressed.

Amazing traditional pub. Great ploughman's. If you enjoy your ale they know how to look after it and serve it

Always a pleasure to eat in this pub. Being bank holiday Monday, and with live music, this was an especially busy day but the two girls serving the tables never stopped and maintained high quality service. Well done girls.

Food was delicious, service was good although a little bit slow today. However the delicious bread rolls arrived warm and freshly baked so that's probably what we were waiting for!

Went for supper last week and had a super evening. Aside from the location, which was gorgeous, the staff, who were friendly, attentive and professional, the thing that stood out was the stunning culinary experience!!! I chose the mushroom pate for starters, which was delicately flavoured and generous in size, with bread. I had pulled Jack fruit wings style and salad as a main course because I'm always looking for ways to enjoy Jack fruit, however, I'm usually very disappointed. On this occasion I was overwhelmed by the beautiful presentation of the dish that was placed before me. There were fresh herbs and plenty of carefully prepared salad goodies, peppers, tomatoes, cucumber etc, sun dried tomatoes, edible flowers etc, a spicy salad dressing was drizzled over. Much to my delight the Jack fruit was amazing!!! A proper summer salad! Portion size was huge so I took left overs home to enjoy the next day. Price was very reasonable. In fact I wondered of they had made a mistake on the bill. Best value for money and absolutely cannot wait to go back again!!

A gem! Lovely cosy atmosphere. Food was 10/10 - we had the ploughman and the special smorgasbord which was impressive. Staff were all very friendly. Thank you!

One of the most antiquated pubs I have been in for a long time but very nice. Food service a bit slow but worth the wait. Real ales still served direct from the barrels. Looks like it could be well worth a visit in the summer with its large outdoor seating area

What a find. Fabulous place, with low beams, real fire and a warm welcome. It is how a British pub should be!!

Great Sunday lunch after a walk in the Bolney Bluebell woods. We all had a ploughman's and all agreed that they were excellent. Service was friendly and efficient. We will be going back to try more from their menu!!

Great country pub, with excellent friendly staff providing great service and awesome tasty cuisine. There was plenty of outside seating and if you want to eat, I would suggest you book as there is limited seating inside, but it's so well worth it. Well done all the team.

We live just down the road from this lovely pub. Great local, ambiance of the place is fantastic and the food is amazing, the owner is Canadian and this certainly shows in the food, if you like your smoked meat this is the place!! Thank you guys we had a lovely meal yet again!!

After missing out on a family meal due to drunken behaviour, later in the day I ordered ribs and wings takeaway, the food never disappoints, portion sizes are massive but still retain quality, if you are looking for good pub food then look no further than the Royal Oak.

The best Caesar salad ever! Nice relaxed pub that allows dogs. My friend and I had a lovely walk and went to the pub for lunch.

Probably the best pizza and ribs in sussex. Red stripe on tap too.

I took my elderly parents today for a Sunday roast. The roast beef was outstanding and as previously experienced the landlady was very attentive. As my dad is 90 and not always up to a trip out I couldn’t book his Father’s Day treat in advance. My parents thoroughly enjoyed their meal as did I. Thank you. They have said they’d like to return soon.
