We came here for the secret menu and weren't disappointed at all! We also had the optional wine pairing in addition to the food and it was incredible. The starter of pigeon with mushroom/truffle risotto was out of this world. It was exciting to have pigeon as it's often a forgotten protein but it was incredible and cooked to perfection. The risotto was quite possibly the best I've ever had too. The main course of halibut was the perfect size after such a rich filling starter, light and crisp, just lovely. Finally, the pudding was a beautiful rustic pudding with that homemade pudding made my grandma kind of feel. The interior of the place is beautiful and welcoming without being pretentious. Oh, and the staff are lovely. The guy who served us and explained the meals to us most of the night was such a lovely person and a credit to this place, he made the night so much better. Would love to return here even if it's not for the secret menu!
This place is an absolute gem! The menu had an amazing selection and I could hear other customers raving about the food they'd chosen - a good sign. I was dining alone but Josh made me feel very welcome and explained the menu and specials thoroughly. Throughout the meal he made sure I was looked after both with service and snippets of conversation which I hugely appreciated. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or come back here myself next time!
Only advice you need is, just go - you won't be disappointed!
Best 3 course roast we have ever had!!
What an unexpected find! From start to finish the Sunday roast experience was exceptional.
Excellent wines, staff who couldn’t do enough for you and possibly the best roast we have ever had in a pub.
The pea ravioli starter was absolutely beautiful, fresh full of flavour and as good as a starter gets.
The roast certainly didn’t disappoint either, everything spot on including delicious meats and roast potatoes and a homemade Yorkshire to die for.
If we could give an 11/10 then we would.
Home cooked fresh and tasty pub food at its best. Beautiful presentation across all 3 courses. Can’t wait to return to Harrogate to try more of the menu!!

Couldn't recommend enough!
Had a really enjoyable boozy Monday lunch. 2 decent cask beers, which does not compete with the wider choice in many Harrogate bars, but good enough. Decent and reasonably priced wine list. Very good service, friendly and helpful but professional. The food was excellent, I had bavette (flank) steak, quite a difficult cut to get right, so I left it to be done “chef’s choice’ and it was delicious, finished in a butter and chilli oil.
I find the seating/tables a bit too hard and basic, but overall a really good experience. I learned later that they do special price cocktails on a Monday, but we missed those, I think details are published on their social media.

The food was really good, the presentation was very nice and overall the taste was of a high standard. We booked for Sunday evening and didn’t realise that we would be limited to the Sunday ‘lunch’ menu, it wasn’t very clear on the website. So this was slightly disappointing but there were a few non roast options too, and in general the quality of the roast was good. The only part of the meal I didn’t enjoy was the pumpernickel crumb on my starter which nearly broke my teeth! The waitress was lovely and the service was very attentive.
Been meaning to try the food here for ages and finally I did. Why did I wait!!
It was fantastic and the service was awesome! Big shout out to Lochlan who was an absolute star and made the experience even better.
Also would like to point out dogs are allowed I and made to feel very welcome.

We came in for Father’s Day and we were not disappointed! The food was incredible, we got the beef roast dinner and it was the best thing I’ve eaten, my kids who are quite fussy ate all their kids chicken roast dinner! They loved the food! But they enjoyed the ice cream more 😂! I managed to get the sticky toffee pudding and it was the BEST sticky toffee pudding I’ve ever eaten! That toffee sauce was amazing! Dad got a little goodie bag which he was super happy with! And the kids got a little bag of toys which kept them entertain for whole meal! Our server was very attentive and made sure everything was perfect for us! So thank you Scott! All the rest of the staff was super friendly and super helpful! We will be back 100% Thank you for a wonderful Father’s Day meal!
Great food and high quality. Lovely staff. All are pros, however it is way too noisy. Roof needs rethinking.
