One of the best fish and chips we have ever had. Great prices and lovely old school atmosphere. The lady serving was also really lovely and made us feel very welcome. Would love to come back here again and would really recommend.

Delicious gluten free fish and chips available on Monday and Wednesday nights. I’ve had gluten free fish and chips everywhere I come across it in the UK and this is one of the best. Eating gluten free fish and chips with Oliver’s delicious mushy peas and tea in an old fashioned cafe is an enjoyable and comforting experience. I only wish the gluten free option is available during lunch time as well.
Incidentally, my husband is not gluten intolerant and he also enjoys his standard fish and chips so no sacrifices on his part for joining me on gluten free night.
Fantastic Eve's Adventures
Nice fish and chips restaurant. The two ladies who served us were nice, especially the lady who took our orders. They also give you proper heinz ketchup.
The haddock was nice, the batter was light, crispy and tasty. We totally enjoyed our meal. I had the regular fish and chips with mushy peas, and a slice of bread/butter, which was more than enough for me.

Great spot for a good honest fish and chips. Or sausage, or pie...
Really good service and Dan making you feel at ease.
Well worth a visit.

Had the gluten-free fish and chips and it was delicious. I'm usually very sensitive and had no problems at all. I'm planning on going back soon.

We ordered 2x cod and chips and 2x battered sausage and chips. All were very tasty and freshly prepared while we waited. Staff friendly, welcoming and efficient.
Tasted fantastic too

The best fish & chips I have ever had. Super moist and tender. I had the mega fish & chips and could barely finish. Make sure you also have a beer to wash it down.

Best fish and chips I've had in years. Good size portions, lovely chips. Sides of mushy peas and scraps are a must! Limited alcohol options, but don't care, I went for the food, not the drink. Waitress was kept busy but coped very well, was attentive and made no mistakes. Recommend you try it!!!

Excellent take out fish and chips. I do find the service a bit slow at times.

Amazing fish n chips, has gluten free too, which is a bonus. Spam fritters are great, and curry sauce is good too. Staff are really friendly and the service is great. It's really good value for money as well.

10/10 best fish and chips in the uk :)

Not good. We have been to Olivers about 8-10 times. At first we loved Olivers, but after a few recent experiences we will not return. The restaurant is not clean, which was something that I was willing to overlook before, but I can't anymore. During our last dinner at Olivers there was a hair in our bread, gritty stuff all in our chips (almost like dirt/sand) and our fish was soooo crispy and dark we could hardly cut into it. Now, normally I like crispy fish, but I was able to see the oil that the fish was being fried in and it was not appetizing at all. It looked dark like tar and smelled really bad. This leads me to believe that they are over-using their oil. If you get fish and chips at a place like Betty's, it's beautifully golden and crunchy. Yes, you'll spend twice as much at Bettys, but I think it's well worth it.

Oliver's has some of the best fish and chips in Hartogate. The fish is always fresh and the batter is crispy and thin--just the way it should be. The interior is also really cool (it's right out of 1970s UK). Prices are very reasonable and if you dine in, it's usually not crowded (although a line can form for take away). A visit to Oliver's is a must for lovers of proper fish and chips. There's also a rotating gluten-free menu. Enjoy!!!
