Great food fault less. The tandori was spot on and as a guy who likes his food the portion sizes are great one happy full stomach

My review relates to TASTE OF CHINA which is now permanently closed.
Excellent food, quick service and very friendly and obliging staff. When we asked to take home our left over food, the staff gave us extra rice without us even asking them. We ate there on a Friday evening and there was a very friendly, happy atmosphere, but no one was loud or in any way annoying.

Where do I start. I’ve been Eating Chinese food across the UK for the past 30 years and this place took me by surprise. In fact it took my breath away. It’s food from the heart severed in quite simply a very professional and sincere way. The ribs fell of the bone. The noodles melted in my mouth. The food was fresh, perfectly marinated and seasoned. I could go on and I will.. If you are in the area get a booking. Get involved. Get with the new boys in town. The big boys. The best boys! The taste of china boys

Poor poor service!!!! I could never understand the opening and closing times of this place...totally inconvenient for customers. They open from around 10 a.m to 2 p.m then close and reopen at 530p.m., they only want cash as they have signs up saying that they only accept credit card for purchases above £15. I mean the business is so anti-customer I would never buy there again !!!

I am gutted, I have been to many places around UK and sincerely review good places, but today I feel pity for myself for spending 19.95£!

I am not trying to be a prick, but this is what you get for a 10.95£ Dumpling "Platter" - 4 dumplings, and the sizzler!

Don't be misled by the rating guys.

I happen to have tried vegetarian food here. The dim sums were well cooked and really delicious . The noodles were a bit hard but still manageable . The prices are not so high. The service is very very slow. The staff doesn't seem to respond at 1 go.

Taste of China offers a very good menu for vegetarians. The chilli paste is seriously powerful, take it with full respect!!! Food wise it's got a good menu. Advisable to book before going.

Average meal, with very fast service (almost too fast in fact...), but it was very expensive for what it was. Ordered 3 vegetarian starters, 1 vege main, 1 noodles, 1 steamed rice, with jasmine tea for 2 adults and 2 young kids (who hardly had any), and the bill came to £55! The tea was charged per person as opposed to per pot, and the portion sizes were quite small. Plus the bill didn't come itemised, but just a piece of paper with the total amount so we don't know what we were charged for service.

Having lived in Harrow on the Hill area for at least 10 years and as someone who enjoys tasting food from a different country I was looking for some exciting taste and flavors that a UK restaurant could provide. As most average middle-class people we are not expecting fine in a normal restaurant, so bearing that in mind I would comment.
I did eat at Taste of China in Harrow on several occasions, definitely more than a dozen visit and tasted a variety of dishes that they provide on their menu with group of friends, colleagues or for a casual romantic evenings. I genuinely loved the food and quality they used to provide. Price wise it varies but surely not the cheapest.

On my last visit on the 21st of April 2015, after a long absence in UK for 1 and 1/2 year I convinced my guest from Australia to give it a try as he was raving about some crispy duck he had in Northampton and was saying it's the best.
Remembering my past experience at Taste of China I told him that the crispy Duck there is as good as you can get for £19.50 which is the average price in most restaurant for 1/2 Crispy duck..
Booked a table for 3 pax and ordered soft shell crab and 1/2 crispy duck with some drinks as a starter. It did not take us long to be served but at first glance the crispy duck looked burnt (Over Cooked) and dry. After my first bite, I called the waiter and told him this was dry. The waiter, I surely remember his face as for the last 5 years at least he works there; told me that this is how it should be.
Now I am a great food fanatic and used to work as a Food & Beverage Manager in a Hotel with a Gastronomic Restaurant that I was in charge when I was a Manager. I knew what I was talking about, but the waiter insisted. I did not want to spoil the evening so I just paid in full for what they served and after I had to apologize to my guest we walk off and had to settle for another restaurant after having just the starter at Taste of China.
Would surely not return ever again as I believe they don't value their customer and therefore I personally don't wish to spend my money in such place. I might be a bit harsh, but reality is that we paying for a service and if it is not provided with an ok average level then it's not worth it.

Poor service and rude manager. I dined at Taste of China this evening along with two friends. I ordered a glass of white wine which tasted very bad. I had 3 sips and couldn't bare the taste. I therefore opted for water. Upon receiving the bill, I informed the male manager that the wine tasted very bad (although it was actually toxic and tasted worse than bleach - I was trying to be polite) and that was the reason I hadn't drunk the wine. He said that there was nothing wrong with the wine and the issue was with my personal taste. He did not offer to remove the cost of the wine from the bill. After receiving this treatment, we informed the manager that we were not willing to pay any service charge which had been added to our bill. The Manager then had the audacity to tell us that he knew we were regular customers and that if we did not pay the service charge, he would not allow us back to the restaurant. We are shocked, appalled and horrified by this terrible experience that we have just had at Taste of China. More so, we are saddened at the fact that our loyalty to the restaurant has been disregarded over a glass of wine. We will not be going back to the restaurant and urge others to resist temptation.

Good variety. Lots for vegetarians, great family venue

Disappointing. Visited in a group recently, staff variable, some OK,some surly, food again variable, some quite nice other dishes very standard which considering the price was disappointing.Service all over the place, some starters had been eaten before others arrived,a request for tap water was met with sideways looks to other staff.Overall this was a poor evening and other diners didn't sem to be enjoying themselves much either.

Brilliant place and ethnic Han Chinese friends have confirmed that this is perhapsbone of the best Chinese restaurants in town. Can't say anything wrong about it, all dishes are good although if you are a vegetarian, you might struggle a bit. The huge carp fish pond in the restaurant is a hit with the kids.

I love chinese! And taste of china did not disappoint me! The food, specially fried rice was just great! The only problem occurred during payment as our card did not work in their machine. Rest of it was just great! ????

I have been coming here regularly over the last 15 years and can honestly say I have never been disappointed with the food. Taste of China is located in the heart of Harrow and their signature chicken in black bean sauce is one of the best in the area. Upon entering, I am always welcomed with an endearing smile and seated within 10 minutes, even if the restaurant is heaving!. The service is also excellent with waiters who are extremely clued up about the menu and limited waiting time on food ordered. The décor is typically traditional and includes both a Chinese fountain and wishing well, which create a very peaceful and tranquil ambience. The food is delightful and the extensive menu offers a variety of dishes to tantalise your taste buds. All food can be tailored to how spicy you would like the dish and this enables you to tweak the menu to your liking. However, if you are looking for something spicy to eat from the menu, I highly recommend the Kung Po Chicken, which is a dish infused with chillies and spices to create quite a fiery meal. I would also suggest the lemon chicken, a very mild dish consisting of diced chicken breast alongside a pungent lemon sauce.

Taste of China is well located, unassuming and friendly, serving quality Chinese cuisine with excellent service. Its popularity is evident from the limited parking directly outside but evening parking is free in the Debenhams car park just across the road.

We have been coming here for years, and only once was I disappointed with the food. Their dishes are very tasty (they cater mainly for Indian taste buds), their chilli sauce is divine. Definitely worth a visit if your in the area. I recommend their hot and sour soup, chicken in black bean sauce and salt and pepper prawns
