Fantastic steak burger, huge fish and chips & delicious sea bream. Very large inside although looks tiny from the front. Could do with a sign out front advertising seats available as we almost walked past convinced it was full.
Friendly staff and warm booth seating with light music
Had the best vegan burger today, absolutely delicious! So nice to have the lentils mostly whole, and the beetroot jam was amazing. I am not vegan, so can’t wait to try the other meals!
Great food good service very nice location. I stopped here for a quick bite to eat and was able to get dine without making a reservation. The staff were polite friendly and helpful and the menu is good. Lots of choices for all tastes and I had a delicious monkfish scampi and an asparagus starter. The beetroot and goats cheese bonbons also great.
Lots of spaces huge dining area and I will definitely return to try a Sunday roast!
What a revelation this place was! I'd been here before but not for a while and it was pure luck I decided to eat here as we were going to the Italian way. This is far superior, in fact its more on par with either Bella vista or AMA and for those who don't know AMA has a 2 star Michelin chef! The best part.....2 courses for £15! They must be losing money on these dishes as the ingredients are top notch, look at my photos - the sticky toffee pudding came with the kids meal! I'm 45 and it was probably the best pork Belly I've ever eaten. I urge you to go and find out yourself as you won't believe it for the price.
We went for drinks and snacks. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We had the whitebait, halloumi fries and loaded fries. Ell 3 snacks were very tasty.
Absolutely delicious top notch food. Possibly one of the best meals I've had in Hastings. Goats Cheese Bon Bons, followed by Lentil & Bean Burger and Celebration of Chocolate for dessert (brownies). Washed down with Curious Brew. Great food, great service, great location.
Amazing food! Awesome cocktails would defiantly recommend.
On the hunt for a chilled place to host our wedding dinner for 50 people, we found The Old Market. The Manager was fantastic and accommodating to most of our reasonable requests and arrangements. They made it very easy for us and our guests to have a great time.
Arranging a chill and wholesome "reception dinner" with them was very easy and I highly recommend coming here for a good meal, brilliant old town Hastings vibe and wholesome hosting.
Thanks Rebecca and Team!
We went here for the two course Sunday roast. We chose a starter and dessert to share whilst choosing the Roast Beef and the Lamb.
Starter was Monkfish Scampi with a wild garlic mayonnaise, perfectly cooked and very tasty.
The mains, well the Lamb was a little fatty and slightly undercooked, whilst the Beef was raw. Shame as the accompliments were so yummy and well presented.
The dessert was the Sticky Date Pudding with apple ice cream and salt caramel sauce....WOW. Absolutely divine and the lunch was washed down with a Tempanillo which was perfect as well.
They was a Chef down and was told this when we sat down and would presume this was the reason for the undercooked meats, but all in all would have received 5*s otherwise. The staff were friendly and accommodating and also gave a reduction on the cost. Would definitely be going there again.
Great food, cooked to order, fresh and local and served in a pleasant atmosphere. Yes, tables are a bit sticky but nothing a white vinegar solution will cut through! Desserts took a while to come but we were enjoying a chat anyway!
Visited Hastings over weekend. Took our little jack Russell with us.
Found this dog friendly gem of a place and booked in for a meal on Saturday night.
We can't praise the staff enough for their kindness. Even gave the dog his own plate of biscuits lol.
Bod (the dog) says he will be back soon......PS....food was lovely....thanks...mark, cay and Bod.....
Strolling down George Street, you would only need to glance at the Tattoo Shop to miss The Old Market.
Yes, it’s unremarkable. But once inside, it only takes a while watching the world go by through the picture window before the remarkable happens.
Delicately cared for creations from their new chef arrive with unfussy service to be accompanied by a slender but thoughtful wine list.
We had pickled mackerel on a watermelon and watercress salad with apple sauce. Sautéed wild mushrooms on sourdough toast. ( my partner had started so quickly I never even grabbed a pic!)
Pan seared skate wing with caper butter, spinach and new potatoes followed and pan fried sea bass with a chorizo potato cake, samphire and white wine sauce.
It was all delicious and, yes, remarkable value!
Visited on the 31/07 at lunchtime. Staff were especially attentive and exceedingly kind. The girl serving myself and my partner was very very friendly and the food was quick and delicious. Very happy to have stumbled upon this place :)
I’ve walked past this place many times and never given it a second glance. Doesn’t look inviting from the outside but don’t let first looks put you off.
No hand pumps but still a good pint.
Had the chicken burger as the pulled pork wasn’t quite to the chefs liking yet. Was expecting standard pub fare but WOW! The tastiest thing I’ve eaten in a long time. Not going to explain further, just try it.
