Review The Thatchers - Hatfield Heath

First time visiting whilst my dogs were getting groomed nearby. Lovely pub. Car park is a bit tight to get in and out of spaces when busy. Two bar staff were great when I arrived, very polite and helpful. I ordered the chicken and ribs. It was very nice. The boneless fried chicken in the meal was lovely. All the food was cooked perfectly. The coleslaw was very tasty. Will definitely be back when I get the dogs groomed again. Great pub.

My partner and I loved the place. It’s a very cosy and pretty pub with friendly staff. The food was excellent - great portions, really well seasoned, and a good price. The staff were very flexible with our booking and also very helpful giving us recommendations for a taxi. Would totally recommend The Thatchers to others :)

Always a warm welcome, Traditional pub. Lovely staff and good food, I hear Sundays are busy with people having the Sunday roast. Full range of drinks, sell a lovely Doombar real ale Log burner fire is lit in the winter Parking to side.

Had a lovely meal at the Thatcher's. I had the Suffolk chicken with Potatoes, cabbage and a mushroom sauce. Prices a little on the high side but the food is very good. A very cosy pub with plenty of seating.

Nice and charming place serving traditional pub food. Waitresses were friendly and nice. My wife's sea bass was perfectly cooked and really tasty. The Ox cheek was great as well and the cod tasted fresh. 2 reasons for the 4/5 : While the food was really good, it was way too salty. For a English country side pub, not having any local or even British beer on tap was disappointing.

Lovely traditional English pub. Food was very good but the service was even better. Young blonde girl was excellent. I'd thoroughly recommend.

Been here twice and the food is lovely. Lovely old beamed pub with lots of character. Such a lovely cosy place yet also roomy. The staff were lovely, very attentive and friendly. Efficient and looked after us well.

Cosy pub, delicious food (I had the haddock and triple cooked chips and it was very tasty), friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere. Does get busy at peak times and the car park is relatively small.

This is without doubt one of the best pub grub eateries I have ever been to. Creative menu, great food and amazing staff. If only all pubs did food this well!

We were just driving though the village and thought that looks like a nice pub, so stopped for a quick pint, first impression very nice, we didn't eat as needed to crack on, but was very tempted. Will probably return at some point as only live 20 miles away.

Popped in whilst passing for "pub food" bit of dinner. WOW... the meals were fantastic. Great menu with great little twists Beautifully presented, and delicious. Rivalling some high class restaurants I have been to. What a very pleasant surprise. Compliments to the chef. Will definitely be back !

A traditional country pub but with the attitude of Grandeur, the Guv wandering around in shorts/ cargos . drinks very expensive £5.70 for a pint of Peroni and not even in a Peroni glass??. Nothing Special

Quite nice food, except Shell on prawns served on Brecheta with loads of garlic butter and no finger bowl. Too messy for bite size starters.

Food was great no problems but our table was booked for 20.15 and we didn't leave until after 22.00 only having a main course. Service was incredibly slow and the manager apologised and gave us some olives which was a nice touch. We waited 15 mins to be asked if we fancied desert only for the waitress to totally forget because she was talking behind the bar to her co worker. We waited 20 minutes and no sign of a desert menu and not a member of staff in sight. When we finally got the waitresses attention i asked for the bill she came over and and asked what we were having before realising she had forgotten to give us the menus. No apology was forthcoming even though she realised we were pretty annoyed at waiting and decided to just get the bill. That said the food was still great and the manager did apologise for our mains being slow and did his best although he won't be happy with what we experienced after. We will return in the future and I'm sure this was just a one off

We attended this terrible, unhelpful pub last night as a party of 13 and promptly left after it was clear that they were not capable of catering for one of our party who had a dairy, but and egg allergy. We found it incredulous that something as simple as a plain steak and salad was beyond what their chef was capable of. My friend did call earlier that afternoon to make enquires but was told 'it's best you don't come' ... Terribly unfriendly response ... Followed by the comment 'there is flour all over the kitchen so we can't guarantee you won't react' - it is flour you cretins!! That doesn't fall into any of the above categories we stated. So we assumed there was a misunderstanding and gave the pub the benefit of the doubt and still turned up. Nope, still the same response. They didn't even have an allergen menu that listed everything in each meal - which is a legal requirement!!! This is actually the second time I have had issues with the unhelpfulness of the staff in this venue and will never visit here again, let alone recommend it to others.
