I just love this place. It has so much to offer - herbs, plants, gift shop, and a wonderful café with excellent food and friendly staff. I have been going for a couple of years now, with one friend or another, and almost feel I have known the staff all my life. The food is reasonably priced and is freshly made. I usually go for a quiche and salad - my favourite, and it is priced under £10.00.

A really nice friendly little place. Large selection of foods to buy and a great little cafe serving freshly prepared food. There's an added bonus in that all along one side of the cafe is a window outside which are a number of trees hung with 12 or more bird feeders so you can have a snack and drink while trying to identify the wildlife. Oh yes, as the name suggests they also have a large selection of herbs although on our recent visit at the end of September, stocks were running low. However, on previous occasions there have always been a plenty to choose from. Really nice quirky place, makes a change from the massive garden centres where you have to search hard to find plants.

Visited today with my husband after it was recommended to us. WOW! What a wonderful place. We managed to get a tablet next to the window. The view is amazing. We enjoyed looking in the bird books provided, finding the names of the many birds that were so close, and of course the cheeky squirrel. The food was very nice and the coffee served hot. This is now are new favourite places even though we are 40 minutes away. Thank to all the lovely staff, nothing was too much trouble.

We discovered The Riverside Herb Centre on a wet and windy winter's day on the lookout for some lunch and a place to dry out. Lunch was lovely, but on that occasion we ordered far too much. Now we know how generous the portions are it's soup or a sandwich not both. It's hard to choose what to have because everything is so nice. The view from the cafe window is marvellous with bird feeders attracting many different species of wild birds and there are even bird identification books on the tables so you know what you're spotting. On my most recent visit I spent some time looking at the herbs and other plants on sale and quite a few jumped into my hands and are now in my garden. An interesting and varied selection indeed. It's a lovely place and well worth a visit, you'll probably find that you won't just go once.

We visited for the first time today, for lunch with our two children. The chap was very accommodating and explained that any of the sandwiches on the menu could be made into children's portions for half price. We ordered tuna melt, bacon/brie/cranberry melt, and kids' prawn mayo and cheese sandwiches. We were really impressed with the quality of the food, presentation and taste; it was delicious. The salads were amazing. The tea was lovely too (we drink a lot of tea at various places!). And to top it all, there was a constant stream of wild birds feeding just a metre outside the window, so the kids were fascinated (well, we all were!). Will definitely visit again now we know how good it is :-) Thank you for a delicious lunch and warm welcome. x

Great food, great staff and fantastic to sit at the window watching the birds and squirrels. A great de-stresser indeed. And on top of that a lovely deli with gorgeous food. What's not to like?!

Absolutely charming place. The best Victoria sponge I've ever eaten in the best setting. So many gorgeous things in the shop, I have already seen several gift ideas for Christmas. Well worth a visit!

Fabulous lunch and great service in lovely surroundings! We met up with friends - not seen for 15 years .... had so much to chat about, we didn't have a chance to pay any attention to the wonderful bird life! Didn't get a table by the window but, on this occasion, it would have been a waste!

Delicious patė and bacon sandwich. Sinful desserts and friendly staff. The real stars of the show are the colourful and varied birds feeding right outside the window. A lovely hidden gem

I had an unusual alcove in the hallway of my house that was going unused, so I decided to commission John George to design and make me a bespoke cabinet to fit . And I have to say that I am simply Delighted with the outcome, Right from the start the whole process was made effortless. John came round to measure up and get an idea of the style I wanted, after going through several designs we settled on one that wouldn't overpower the rest of the room and compliment the other furniture. The Cabinet is made from quarter sawn english oak with contrasting english Cherry panels. The inside was divided up with glass shelves which allowed the stunning figure of the wood to still be seen. On several occasions I visited the workshop that is nestled just outside of Hathersage in the peak district to view my cabinet being made, I found this so interesting I could have stayed all day. John delivered and fitted the finished piece without leaving a speck of dust the upmost of care was taken, dust sheets and carpet protecters where laid throughout. This was the first time I have commissioned a bespoke piece of furniture and can honestly say that I have enjoyed every stage and will be recommending John George Fine Cabinetry to all my friends and family
