Warm and welcoming pub with friendly and down to earth staff. My wife and I went for a drink and a Sunday lunch after a snowy walk. The roaring fire was fantastic. Food is delicious and beautifully presented. My wife had roast pork and I had but roast. First time I’ve ever had a delicious nut roast.
What a great place with lovely proprietors and staff. We had a really tasty lunch in a place with really good ambiance. We were checking it out because we have a family function booked in October for 32. They couldn't have been more helpful, fab function room and super menu. Can't recommend this lov
Great food, marvelous staff and great scenery, rare to find a place these days that serves Sherry. Very pleasent visit and a lovely Sunday roast dinner with some fabulous views of the hills.
Very enjoyable visit, give it a try, sure you won't be disappointed.
Enjoyed a drink and some home made soup here on Sunday after a lovely walk on Kinder Scout. It was happily busy, good atmosphere, a lovely log fire and excellent beer.
This place has a new chef and the food is really great now. We had a lovely roast by the roaring log fire and loved it. Best chocolate brownie I’ve had for a very long time too. Friendly, accommodating staff too who gave our slightly over enthusiastic dog lots of love.
Excellent service, friendly staff and the food was excellent. Only ate in the pub,, small menu. Would like to go back, stay as they do accommodation and I would like to try the restaurant.
I am writing this review because of the excellent customer service received.
We were staying at the local campsite and I emailed them to see if they were serving food as it can be hit and miss as we all know due to the pandemic.
I received a reply quickly.
Unfortunately due to staffing issues they w
Great little spot. Typically priced pints (3.85 for a pint of ale) and the outdoor area (as this was during restrictions) has a large tent like structure to keep you out of the rain and most of the wind. The staff were amazing, serving us quickly and politely with a good chat also! The main courses
Checked in, fires burning down stairs. Large parking space to this once rectory, coach house, large bar, fire place, log burner. Room is fantastic. Leaving on Christmas Morning.
Lovely home made food. Reduced menu ATM . Fresh local veg and good pie. Excellent gravy. Wide range of real ales and helpful staff. Still busy for food at 3:30 on a Monday. Continental trade helped by stunning local views. Right next to the crystal clear river and floral memorial gardens. Big fre
Really nice staff and great service while we stayed. Daughter left behind her stuffed bunny and they even helped to post it back to us. Very thoughtful! Thank you!
Never been in here before but I'll definitely be going back,so warm so friendly and the food was lovely.highly recommend the Royal Hotel
Post walk lunch was very good. Reasonable menu with "small" portions of some meals like fish and chips which were still a good size. Nice coffee as well.
Only just got in to our room, which is spacious, clean and very comfortable. The staff , who we have met so far, are lovely, very accommodating. And welcoming.
Update by the end of our visit.
Good food and a fine selection of beers. Very hospitable staff and a very nice pub. I had a lovely pie, packed with chunky pieces of meat. Something for everyone on the menu.
A comfortable nights stay. Had a small issue with our evening meal which was quickly sorted. Good breakfast with proper sausage, could have been a bit hotter though. Food was tepid though still tasty.
