The Red Lion Chelwood Gate

Amazing atmosphere, with incredibly attentive staff. From the moment you walk through the door you feel like a welcomed guest. They have a vast array of beers and spirits and have a fabulous indoor and outdoor space with an outdoor area for children to play. There is ample parking and the pub easily accommodates small or large parties. Charlie was our server and I can’t give her enough praise. She made the whole family feel incredibly welcomed and even though the pub was incredibly busy, she saw that we all were served quickly. Will we go back again? Absolutely….would we recommend you go? Without a doubt!

We were recommended to visit here by the lady at Spring Farm where we had been Alpaca walking. I'm so glad we were. We received the warmest welcome by lovely staff. I had the best beer battered fish and chips I have ever tasted! The chunky chips were extra chunky, crisp on the outside and perfectly cooked. The cod was fresh and coated in the most crisp and delicious beer batter. My friend really enjoyed her meal too, ham, egg and chunky chips. This pub is superb, dog and people friendly 😊. If you drive past, youve missed a treat! 😂

The Red Lion in Chelwood Gate was rated the top 5 stars by the Food Standards Agency as of December 2017. The pub is next to Munich Legends, so whilst on a visit to them I visited the Red Lion for lunch. They have a good selection on the menu and nice range of ales and modern brews available on tap. I choose the soup of the day and fish and chips, and sat outside amongst lots of cute dogs that owners had brought. The food came quickly and was hot, the soup was lovely and bread good. The fish and chips a tad oily but very nice portion. Overall really lovely and would definitely come again.
